“ Brand: Carvela / Type: Sandals „
Over in Lincolnshire we have had relatively warm, summer weather for around a week now and it has been great and makes such a change from cold, damp conditions. Since having this warm weather I have seen plenty of women walking around in sandals and flip flops. Now although it is still only March (just) I have been lucky to have had a recent break to Spain where I lived in sandals quite happily without my toes freezing.
One pair I took with me were the most recent purchase as I was able to get a small discount as a close friend of mine works in a concession store which made it a lot easier to part with my cash, especially for sandals! They had been on my wish list as soon as they came out so I was very happy to have them at slightly reduced price. The pair in question are called Krazy and are by Carvela. I'm a huge fan of Carvela and even more so now with their gorgeous sandal collection for spring/ summer.
What Carvela say:
"Krazy by Carvela is a 70s inspired toe-tong sandal adorned with bright multi-colour beads. With a nod towards this seasons bright colour trend, these will give your look an instant update!"
Krazy only come in one colour version which Carvela class as purple but I quite like all the different colours which manage to brighten up any outfit. I'm a huge fan of maxi dresses and these sandals go perfectly with them especially if the dresses are dark in colour. Carvela class them as a 'day' sandal but I think they could be worn both day and night with ease and the detailing is so unique.
Obviously the main detail on the sandals is the multi coloured beads which adorn the front of the sandal. Most are all the same size but there are the odd few which are slightly larger which again add a little more detail. There is no specific pattern of the beads as some help form circular patterns and other beads form straight lines. But the bold, bright colours really are eye catching. The beading goes right round the ankle on thicker leather straps which is really nice.
The main colour of the shoe is actually brown and made out of leather. The type of sandal is classed as a toe post or thong as the strap goes between your toe which some people do dislike but it doesn't bother me at all. Like most leather shoes the straps do stretch a little with wear. As with all sandals of this style there is no support at the sides of the foot other than two slim straps which go at the side of the foot.
The sandals have a strap which goes around the ankle and is done up by a small zip which rests at the back of the heel. By having the zip at the back of the heel there is a little support for the heel which is quite nice as your feet do feel a bit more secure in the sandals as opposed to just a thin strap around the ankle which is done up by a small buckle. The zip is hidden so you can't really see it when you are wearing them.
The soles of the shoes are synthetic and are quite durable. The lining of the sole is brown in colour to match with the straps and the zip. There is no lining in the sandals which is what is expected but they are comfortable and the straps around the sides of the feet are not too tight. The beads are on a leather backing and are tightly stitched in so they won't come loose.
I've worn my pair a few times whilst in Spain and I will definitely be packing them in my suitcase when I next go away. They are an incredibly versatile sandal as I wear them both day and night and go perfect with a pair of knee length shorts, maxi dress or skinny jeans.
When I first wore them I did find them a little stiff to begin with but it didn't take long for the leather to finally soften a bit and the sole was a bit more flexible to walk in. The zip at the back is easy to do up and isn't stiff in the slightest. The side straps didn't rub and neither did the heel part of the sandals which was good as I did expect them too as the leather was stiff to start off with. I can't complain about these whatsoever and I am very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend them to anyone willing to pay their asking price. However, they are very well made and will last for quite a while so you will be getting your monies worth.
