Bling it up with Krunch!

Advantages: Gorgeous detailing and comfortable
Disadvantages: A bit pricey
I mentioned in a few of my shoes reviews that I would be leaving the dreary UK for sunnier climes and fortunately for me I am there as I flew out with my daughter early whilst my other half is on a week long course in Surrey! I am writing my review from a lovely villa in Tenerife on the outskirts of Los Christianos. A close relative owns the villa and a few of us (family) have travelled out to get some winter sun. Because I had bought the majority of my holiday clothes last year I didn't particularly need anything to wear but it gave me a reason to invest in shoes. I have quite a few family holidays coming up this year (treated by both my parents and the in laws to summer holidays) so I want enough footwear so I am not wearing the same shoes everyday.
I love a good day on the beach but it is always nice to get out and see what is around you. My aunt owns her own car out here so it is easy for us to visit local places. Because I like a little bit of extra height I tend to wear my flip flops for the beach and like to wear something a bit higher if we are out and about but obviously a pair of platform courts are not going to be suitable! One pair I bought just before I flew out was a pair called Krunch from Carvela.
What Carvela say:
"Krunch by Carvela is a glamorous wedge sandal featuring contrasting straps and heel detailing. Wedges are a huge trend for this season and these are finished with eye catching jewel embellishment making them an ideal evening style."
Krunch are available in either black or taupe and I ended up going with the taupe or nude as I want to call it. I preferred the taupe version as they look a bit more casual than the black. Carvela do say in their description that they are "an ideal style" and yes they are definitely suitable for an evening out but they are also quite casual so you can team them with a casual maxi dress or knee length denim shorts and they will just give your casual outfit a bit of glam.
Krunch are made of leather, or the straps are which makes them pretty comfortable as the leather is quite soft to begin with and it doesn't take long for it to supple enough around your feet so they are not as tight as they were when you first wear them. The strap around your ankle is adjustable with a bronze coloured buckle but there are only a few holes so you are limited with the adjustable but if you are wearing them on holiday you only want the strap done up loosely but even if you have it on the tightest hole because its leather it will soon loosen.
The main detail on Krunch is down the strap which rests on the front of your foot. The whole strap (which is quite wide) is covered in a variety of gold coloured jewels in all different sizes. The gorgeous, rich coloured gold really suits the colour of the shoes. The jewels are all well secured on the front panel of the shoes which ensures they will stay on the shoe although I am careful when I wear them just in case.
The heel on these shoes is 12cm which for me is an ideal height but for some this may be too high but I like the added height. There is a platform to Krunch which takes off a little height off the heel so they don't seem as high. The shoes are a wedge which again makes them easy to walk in and they don't feel as high as say a court shoe. The wedge material is made from a synthetic material which is brown at the platform and on the wedge part of the heel it is the same taupe coloured leather that covers this part of the shoe. This gives the shoe a nice contrast against the lighter leather and the darker coloured platform. The sole is made from quite a hard material which although smooth when you wear them it won't provide you with any comfort.
I've worn these a few times now mainly to walk around town or on an evening out and they have been incredibly comfortable. Although because the shoe is solid and there is no padding they do make the arch of my feet ache a little but they haven't rubbed my feet or caused any major discomfort so I can't really moan. I bought them mainly because they were wedges which are more comfortable to wear and because of the jewelled detail. They are definitely a versatile pair of shoes, ideal for both day and night.
Krunch are a new pair Carvela have brought out and can be purchased from any Carvela retailer - Johns Lewis, Kurt Geiger, Debenhams etc. They currently retail at £95.00 for either colour which although is a bit more than I would of wanted to pay I was able to get 10% off which made it a bit easier to part with my money. Sizes start from a 3 and go up to an 8.
Summary: A lovely summer shoe
