During the last month or so of my pregnancy I had finally given up my beloved heels as like most pregnant women your feet swell and you want to be as comfortable as possible. However, one thing I didn't give up was being social however tired I was feeling! Going out with friends and family meant that even though my gorgeous heels were taking a rest in my wardrobe I needed to find a glamorous alternative to my evening wear.
One pair of shoes that I purchased were from Carvela and called "Low" and they are classed as an evening shoe. The name suits the shoes as they are a pair of flat shoes which a very small 10mm heel which doesn't make them feel as flat as you would expect. I really like Carvela shoes and it was nice to find a pair of flat shoes which were quite glitzy and suitable for an evening out.
What Carvela say:
"Low by Carvela is an opulent ballerina tapping into two key trends for this season, velvet and embellishment. The luxe finish and eye catching beaded bow make these the ideal update for your wardrobe!"
For me I wanted a pair of flat shoes which were more evening wear than everyday wear which would also be suitable for work so I wasn't asking for much! As soon as I saw "Low" I was hooked by the gorgeous jewelled bow which is on the front of the shoe. The jewelled bow gives just enough glitz and glam to transform these flat shoes into something a little more special. The fabric has a velvet feel and look to it which again adds to the glamour for a night out.
The shoes are not made from leather but are made from fabric which is quite robust but it doesn't soften up as easily as leather and the shoes keep their shape incredibly well while being comfortable. I did however get a little bit of rubbing on the back of my heel because they are a bit rigid. However, after wearing them quite a few times the fabric does loosen and I haven't had any more rubbing.
The shoes are round at the front and are actually quite narrow so if you do need a bit more room at the front, especially if you have wide feet you won't be comfortable in these shoes until the fabric has stretched out a littler. As I said above the shoes do have a slight 10mm heel which is barely even noticeable but does give a tiny bit of height to those used to wearing heels.
For me these shoes provided a bit of glitz on my nights out but provided the comfort I needed from flat shoes. They are incredibly comfortable which was ideal for me when I was heavily pregnant and it doesn't take long for the fabric to loosen up around the foot. They are however casual enough to wear at the office which is ideal as when I go back to work I have a wonderful pair of flat shoes to wear on my no doubt very hectic days!
Carvela Low are available in blue, black and the tan colour (as pictured). They are now on sale and at Kurt Geiger they have been reduced from £85.00 to £59.00 which I think is great value. I however bought mine at the original price and I am more than happy with the price of them as they are incredibly well made and will last me for a long time. Definitely a recommendation from me, even more so now they are on sale!
