A smart comfortable pair of shoes that look and feel good

I love Clarks shoes and have several pairs of their shoes, sandals and boots. They are not the cheapest but are excellent quality and last for ages. I would say that most of their shoes are quite plain and I was pleasantly surprised to see these striking animal print ballet pumps at a Clarks outlet shop in Birmingham. They were reduced from £34.99 to £19.99 so were reduced to almost half price.

These come in a massive range of sizes from 2 to 9 including half sizes and two widths D and E. I am not aware of any other makes of shoes which do half sizes nowadays and this is perfect for me as I am (in Miranda style) what I call a 'good 5'. I bought them in a 5 and a half and width D which fit me perfectly.

I love these ballet style pumps as I think they are so versatile. They look good with jeans, leggings, shorts and skirts and are suitable for all ages. I think this particular pair is quite dressy and smart so I don't wear these for work but usually wear them with mid calf length trousers when I am going out of which I have a few pairs of beige coloured ones which they really compliment.

Another thing I like is the heel which is the heel which is half an inch which gives you that little bit of height and I find my foot is at a perfect angle, not too low but still very comfortable to wear. They fit me snugly but are not too tight or too loose and I can walk confidently in them. The first couple of weeks I wore them they rubbed me a little bit to my heel but not enough to cause a blister and this soon wore off the more I wore them.

The upper is made of leather and is very flexible and the sole is synthetic so is hard wearing. The insole is made of cushionsoft comfort and does feel quite spongy and soft to the touch. When I am wearing these for a long time and walking a lot in them the balls of my feet don't get that hot throbbing feeling I get from some of my shoes. The toe is nicely rounded so my toes have plenty of room to move.

They have black edging and a small black bow to the front which really adds to the smart look. I think they look a very expensive pair of shoes (well they actually are quite expensive if you pay full price). I can say that they have worn very well and there is no visible wear to the heels or any scuff marks to the top. However I do look after my shoes and am quite careful with them.

I haven't yet had to clean these shoes as they still look very clean, but this may be down to the print disguising any marks, but they do still look as new. I am not sure why this particular pair is named Carousel Ride as I cannot see any connection with a fair other than maybe the animal print, but when I looked on the website the plain ones are also called Carousel ride so I have no idea. I do find though that Clarkes name their shoes quite random names.

This range of shoes comes in a wide variety of colours but they are all plain and these are the only patterned pair. I would highly recommend them as they are well made and smart, and are extremely comfortable to wear.

        leopard print pumps from Clarks

I love buying shoes and boots and have dozens of pairs tucked away in my wardrobe;some worn more than others! The latest addition to my collection is a gorgeous pair of leopard print leather pumps from Clark's. I was looking for a pair of comfortable shoes to wear with both jeans and leggings and these caught my eye. Priced at £34.99 they are not so expensive that I am afraid to wear them!

All Clark's shoes and boots have strange names for some reason and these are oddly named * carousel ride* why? Anyway there are several colour options in the range bearing this name including black patent, teal, nude and fuchsia. I loved the leopard print option and this was the pair I bought. The pumps are available in sizes 2- 9 including half sizes. They are also available in 2 width fittings, a standard D fitting and a wider E fitting. I am really pleased that Clark's has at last started to offer a choice of width fittings ,as some of their shoes are quite narrow. However these pumps seem true to size. I usually take a size 5 in a D fitting and found these fitted me perfectly.

The pumps have a small string bow at the front that looks simple and compliments the style perfectly. I have now worn these pumps several times and the bow has stayed in place. The pumps are made of leather with a synthetic lining. I was a bit disappointed at the lack of padding inside as I have come to expect Clark s shoes to be supremely comfortable with their generous inner padding. However although not that well padded they are still very comfortable and have enough padding to cushion my steps.

I really love the simple ballet style of these pumps and think they look great with jeans, leggings and shorts. I do not wear skirts or dresses often but I guess they would be suitable to wear with anything! I recently wore these on shopping trip involving lots of walking. I found them really comfortable and liked the fact I could easily slip them off to try on clothes.

When I first bought these several weeks ago I had thought they might prove difficult to keep clean. However I am pleased to report that despite wearing them almost constantly, they are still looking as good as new. The animal print leather doesn't seem to show the dirt at all. I have given then a quick wipe over with a cloth to remove any loose dirt and this is really all that is needed. I have not worn these out in the rain so can't say whether they are waterproof but as they are open pumps they really are not designed for this type of wear .

I bought these pumps directly from my local Clark s shop but they are available to order from the Clark s web site with free delivery and free returns. If you do order on line, you may want to use a price rebate site such as Quidco in order to get some money back from your purchase.
