Advantages: bright, colourful, machine washable and lightweight

Disadvantages: Dont get velcro straps they lose there stickiness

When it came to my sons feet and buying him shoes I knew it was something I really didnt want to compromise on. I didnt want to buy a cheap pair of shoes from Primark and for him to be covered in sores and have deformed feet by the time he was four years old! (Maybe thats a bit extreme:). So when he started walking at 17months (yes very, very late) I quickly (or rather very slowly) marched him down to the local Clarks shop. I didnt have a clue what I was going to get for him but I knew from my childhood that the staff were trained in measuring feet and would check the fitting of every individual shoe we tried. After looking through the shoes I spotted 'doodles'. It was the start of the summer and these looked perfect for this time of year.
The shoe itself is very lightweight and is made of canvas which was a great first shoe for my son. I chose a pair that had a crab on one shoe and a turtle on the other which I thought would be great for an older child as they could learn which creature goes on which foot.
They are machine washable which was great because you can keep them on at the beach and in the water and give them a quick wash when you get home without them getting absolutely ruined.
My son absolutely loves these shoes as they are so bright and colourful and he has now taken to calling every pair of shoes, slippers, flip flops and trainers 'doodles' which is quite funny:)
Obviously they do cost a bit more than a shoe from any old shop but Id say the extra is definately worth it and if you can get them when the sales are on then they tend to reduce them to a ridiculously low price anyway.
The only negative thing I would say is the doodles we chose had a velcro strap which has lost its stick a bit so pings open every now and again. If you can stick to the buckled ones then you wont have this problem.

Summary: A great shoe worth paying the extra.
