Advantages: Cheap, hard wearing, cute

Disadvantages: None!

When it comes to kids feet, you can't compromise in quality. Their bones are still soft and their feet need adequate room to grow. Poorly made or tight shoes can cause long lasting or even permanent damage to children's feet.

Knowing this, you can see how important well fitting shoes are, this is where Clarks comes in.

The obvious problem with Clarks is the cost, this is where Doodles come in!

For me, it has to be Clarks as they are the only shop in my area that measure feet and fit shoes properly. Being a single parent and a student, money can get tight but I'd rather cut back on my shoes than my sons (my feet are ruined through years of wearing too tight heels anyway so what does another pair matter!).

The average price of Clarks shoes went up again a couple of months back and is now around £30-38 depending on wether you buy shoes, boots or trainers. So Doodles, at around £15-18 each are a godsend for the summer months.

Doodles are leightweight canvas shoes or sandles, they are perfect for summer but not obviously not suitable for the colder months. They also do wellies in the winter at around the same price.

They are available in sizes 4 to 12 1/2, so from quite young to around school age. My son has had a couple of pairs of Doodles each summer since he was 2, unfortunately this will probably be his last year as he is a size 11 now.

The thing that I like about Doodles is that they are in such bright, fun designs. Even the boys shoes.
Usually you will walk in to a shoe shop and see a huge range of bright, shiny, glittery or embroidered shoes for girls, then in a corner somewhere there are about 5 or 6 pairs of plain boys shoes, usually in various shades of beige - yuck!

Each year there are around 3 different themes and a couple of styles in each theme. They had a lovely Jungle theme last year in green and orange with lions on the front ( I actually went in the other day and found that they are doing this style again this year). They also had Sammy sharks which were a deep blue underwater scene with fish on one foot and a shark on the other.

I usually buy my son shoes in the style shown in the pic above as I think they look so cute and traditional on little boys - they look especially cute when teemed with dungarees!

Even though they are light and canvas they are still extremely hardwearing and will last the whole season - if they are not outgrown by then!

I would thoroughly recommend Doodles as they are very reasonably priced and as they have been professionally fitted you can guarantee that you are giving your childs feet the best start in life.

Summary: A great buy that will last all summer long
