Advantages: Cheaper than usual clarks shoes, light on feet, washable
I have recently bought my daughter her first set of doodles. My son had several pairs and i truly forgot how great they are.
Given british weather is very unpredictable buying sandals in May is not a fab idea when your child is so young their feet are growing quickly so they generally have the one pair of shoes at a time. Yet boots and heavy shoes are too hot for their little feet when it is sunny. So we have a compromise - The doodle.
There are two sorts of doodles Clarks sell. The first the one pictured with a t-bar buckle fasten and the other is like a pump/trainer which is a fuller shoe and fastens with two velcro strips. I shall be reviewing the t bar one.
The doodle has a soft flexible sole so is good at any age. The top of the shoe is canvas with a picture on the front. The picture is gender specific and like on this pair is a rainbow with fire flys and hearts on. They are attractive to little eyes. From where the tbar is around the sides and back of the foot is a soft cushioned band wider than the actual shoe to provide a good secure fit and prevent slipping and grip the shoe to the childs foot. The buckle on the shoe is a good stiff one so the shoes stay as tight as you put them. The doodles come in half and full sizes in all widths. Although i was advised you sometimes have to go up a size with doodles. Even inside the shoe is attractive with some sort of print (pink and white gingham in this case.
The shoes are great as they will go with shorts, dresses, jeans trousers, anything really and they are really light on their feet. The doodle as with all canvas shoes they can get grubby in which case they can be machine washed in a pillow case at 40 degrees.
These cost me £15 for the pair at full price and as far as i know they are all about this price but i think the other style with velcro fastening are nearer £18 from memory but are still considerably cheaper than usual shoes or sandles which are mostly between 26 and £30.
Summary: A great light shoe for little feet
