A great summer buy
Member Name: mich3980
Advantages: Cheaper summer shoes but a great fit
Disadvantages: £20 is still quite a price to pay for shoes that only fit for 3 months, not waterproof
A friend once told me that if there is one item of clothing I should try to ensure I invesedt money in for my little girl it should be her shoes. She beleived that little girls in particular will probably go on to wear ill fitting 'cheap' shoes later in life (we have all done it) so in order to look after their feet while there young it is probably worth spending that bit extra. I think I probably shrugged this advice off at the time but as a bearer of 'funny feet' myself in my early 30s I have now become determined to do my upmost to prevent my little girl from suffering the same.
I always buy clarks shoes for my little girl and ensure that they are properly fitted and measured. This can sometimes be costly I think I payed £35 for a pair of ankle boots late last year which she probably wore for about 12 weeks but in my opinion it is worth every penny. Clarks doodles are great as they are a slightly cheaper option for the summer but still fit brilliantly as you would expect any Clarks shoe. My daughter had these last year and I was so impressed I have recently bought her a pair to wear in this warmer weather,
Doodles are canvas shoes but still come in the clarks range of sizes in the different width fittings. This means they fit better than the standard canvas options available elsewhere, They come in a range of styles from sandals to velcro or buckle/clip fastening versions. I normally buy the velcro options as the ones with the buckle fastenng seem to come up a bit tighter over her instep. The sole on these doodles are extremley hard wearing made of thick rubber with a good grip to them. As they are made of canvas they are much lighter on my daughters feet and do not make my daughters feet sweat as much as her trainers. This makes them a much better shoe option for the summer. They come in a range of colours and patterns so there is lots of choice and the range is updated frequently so my daughter has been able to choose a different pair everytime. Her most recent pair are made of blue denim like material. They have pink stars and sequins on them so are still quite pretty and girly
When I first bought a pair last year I was a little concerned that they would get dirty easily however the shop assistant advised that customers tend to pop them in the washing machine to freshen them up so I decided to give it a try. I washed them on a 30 degree wash and it really cleaned them up nicely and have since done this several times. Even after extensive wear her previous pairs have remained in brilliant condition and I have gone on to sell them second hand on ebay.
Clarks doodles normally retail for around £18 - £20. I am really lucky to have an outlet store nearby which sells them for £10. The only real disadvantage is that they aren't good on those wet summer days we have tended to have a lot of in recent years.
I will continue to buy these for many summers to come and I am giving them 5 stars.
Summary: A great summer buy
