Fab, durable work boots from this quality brand.

I love the quality of Clarks shoes and whilst they might not be the most cutting edge of shoe designs I always use them for my smart work shoes and boots because I know the fit will be comfy and the quality high. I bought this pair of 'Karate Belt' boots to replace a 4 year old similar pair which had been re-heeled a number of times but were really starting to look scruffy due to almost constant use.

I tend to wear trousers to work, in the summer I may wear the odd skirt but on day to day business you will generally find me in a trouser suit. This is why this kind of boot is an essential item in my wardrobe for three reasons, firstly it is smart and fairly nondescript, secondly it goes well with whatever trousers you are wearing and thidly the 2" heel is square and solid which means on the days when I have to do a lot of walking they do not murder my feet.

Clarks is a byword for comfort in my opinion and these boots are no exception, the sole is incredibly comfortable and the shape of the upper boot wraps firmly but nicely around my ankle. It feels supportive whilst also not being restrictive.

I assume this style is called Karate Belt because of the strip of patterned belt-like leather running down the outside of each boot, which you can see in the picture above. This neither adds or takes away anything for me as this part of the boot is generally not on show, being under whatever trousers I am wearing.

One thing I have noticed with this particular style is that the sizing is a little on the generous size. I am a UK size 6 and therefore ordered these in that size. Wearing them over the last month or so I do notice that there is more space than normal around my foot within the boot, this is not causing me any problems however and they do not rub when I walk, it is just something I have noticed. Clark's do half sizes and therefore it may be advisable to try them on in store before purchasing to ensure you have the correct size for you.

The zip on these boots is on the inside of the ankle and the zips are as robust as you would expect on Clarks shoes. The zips were still going strong on my old pair, I think the leather would have given out before the zips would have and this is testament to the quality. I have owned many a cheap pair of zip up boots where the zips are the first thing to go.

I bought these boots online and during the sale, full price they are £55 but during the sale and with deft use of a discount voucher (from Money Saving Expert forums) I managed to get them for the bargain price of £22. I would have been happy to pay around the £40 mark which is roughly what I paid for my last pair, it is well worth waiting for sales with Clarks shoes but personally they are one of few brands I would never regret paying full price for.

Great quality boots here from Clarks, ideal for the busy working woman, especially if you live in trousers; smart, comfy and long lasting, I am certain that I will always have a pair of these in my work wardrobe.
