I like Clarks shoes and boots and because their women's size 5 fits me so well then when I need shoes or boots I tend to try Clarks first. Clarks products are available to buy in their high street stores and also available online at Clarks.co.uk. Other places like Very and Littlewoods online also stock a small variety of Clark's products.
I liked the look of these boots the very first time I spotted them in my high street Clarks store. The fit is important to me and the boots in a size 5 fitted me perfectly. The boots are similar to Chelsea boots which were very fashionable in the eighties. The boots are quite flat and the actual heal is only about one inch high. The bottom rubber type sole is ridged so there is a good bit of grip on the sole for icy weather. An essential to cope with the weather this winter!
The boots are made from leather and the leather has a slightly waxed look. I got the boots in black leather but you can also buy them in brown and they are available from size 3.5 to 8, and they are the standard D fit.
The boots are very easy to put on. On the side of each boot there is an elasticated panel and this really helps to ease your foot into the boots, the boots also have a heel loop, this is good to grip onto and pull the boots on and off. The boots are ankle boots and are great under boot leg jeans. The are not clumsy looking boots, they look really neat and tidy on and do not make your feet look as if they are 2 sizes larger than they really are. I find the boots really comfortable to wear and I can wear them all day long and walk in them for long distances without having sore feet.
I have been wearing these boots since December 2009. I am really pleased that this is the second winter I have had out of these boots. When I bought them the quality seemed good but I was unsure if they would just last one winter or longer. I paid £49.99 for them in 2009 and the price has not gone up, it is the same this year.
The cost of these boots £49.99 is a lot of money to me. The main reason I bought these boots was because I was really struggling to walk in the snow and ice and I was really worried that I would slip and fall. I feel quite safe whilst wearing these boots, they are also waterproof. The boots are also very easy to keep clean, I usually just wipe them with a damp cloth.
The only downside these boots have is that they are unlined and not very warm. I only wear one pair of socks under these boots, I think if you wear really thick socks under them then you lose some of the grip you get from the sole but this is just my opinion. Personally I would rather have the security of being able to walk in the ice without slipping rather than really warm feet.
All in all a great pair of ankle boots from Clarks. Hardwearing and very comfortable to wear.
I love buying boots and shoes as my wardrobe can testify! One of my favourite pairs of boots is a pair of short ankle boots that I bought from my local Clarks shop several months ago. Although I had to stop wearing them when the snow and ice arrived, they are now back on my feet on a daily basis, so I thought it was time to review them.
Clarks Orinoco club ankle boot, as they are officially called, come in a choice of either black or brown. I opted for a black pair as I would be able to wear them with all of my jeans and trousers. The boots are ankle length and resemble a Chelsea boot. They are made of leather and have elasticated side panels. There is a loop at the back of the boot, so getting them on and off is made easy! The boots have a very low heel that suits me well, as I really can't cope with high heels! The foot bed is well cushioned, making the boots very comfortable. The boots have a suede look .
I paid £49.99 for my boots and they are available from Clark's shops. Alternatively you can buy these boots from the Clarks web site, delivery and returns are free. The boots come in full and half sizes, although unfortunately they only come in one D width fitting. I have found that some styles of Clark's boots are just too narrow for my feet. I really wish they would offer a choice of fittings! However the Orinoco boots were a good, comfortable fit. I usually take a size 5, but did find I needed a half size larger.
I really love these boots and have worn them a lot; with the exception of during that snowy weather! They have molded to my feet well and the cushioned foot bed makes me feel like I'm walking on air. I think they look great with jeans although wouldn't wear them with dresses or skirts, but that's just my opinion! I have always been impressed with the service I have received from my local Clarks shop and I know that any problems I have will be quickly sorted out for me.
The one negative comment I would make, is that although these boots have fairly thick soles, they don't have good tread and can be slippery, especially when there it is wet or icy. However I have a very good pair of snow boots for those days so this isn't too much of an issue for me. Overall I can highly recommend these boots, they are comfortable to wear and look good. I think they are reasonably priced too.
Over the years Clarks shoes have been a staple of the british high street and not only have we bought shoes for our family from them, but we have bought shoes, boots and slippers for ourselves. I have to say that having hunted high and low for a good quality pair of boots for winter to add to my burgeoning collection of footwear, I came across my Clarks Orinoco Club Boots instore.
Having a number of Clarks boots in my wardrobe I have to say that many but not all are very well made and so priced accordingly. These Clarks Orinoco Club Boots can set you back £49.99 either in store or online, but from time to time there are discount codes for use online, special deals and reductions which can bring prices down by between 20% and 50%. I always try to keep an eye on what I want and then wait till prices are reduced to buy, as I feel I can get more for my pennies that way.
Anyhow back to the boots, these were bought as an every day walking and general wear boot. They are a nice low heeled ladies winter boot with a decent amount of tread to them which gives good grip when out in bad weather. They are not to be confused with a proper walking or hiking boot but they do work well on many surfaces such as grass, tarmac, concrete, tiles, laminate, and wood.
These boots will cope perfectly well when worn out and about walking over the odd muddy field, so are a good choice for light/ short country walks etc. Of course anyone hiking or doing any serious waking will need something more suited to the job. I wanted these boots as I thought they would look great when worn with casual clothing such as jeans for daytime wear. I have to say they do look rather good when worn with them, but they could also be worn with other outfits and look just as good.
The material used to make up the boots comprise of a nice supple but strong leather and they come in either tan or black. Both colours are very smart. I went for the black but I can say the tan is rather attractive, although I have found with some of the lighter tan and chocolate leather boots Clarks sell the colours can vary considerably within a set colour tone. In fact when I was trying on these boots for size in both colours to help make up my mind, I did comment on this as the two sizes I tried in the tan colour did vary with one pair being much lighter than the other.
Talking of sizing, I have found that as a the owner of a number of pairs of Clarks Boots they can and do vary in size from style to style. With these Chelsea style boots I needed a half size smaller than my usual size. This is something I have found to be the case with many of the chunkier styles of boots which Clarks sell, but as sizes very often go from size 3 to size 8, with half sizes in between, its often easy enough to find a pair that will fit well.
The style of these boots is casual but smart and so they are easy to wear in many situations. I have found they are fine to wear if your are a driver, as the heel is just the right sort of height so as not to interfere with the foot pedals when breaking or changing gear. They are also just high enough to give you and inch or so extra height (well every little helps) and are not so flat that they cause leg strain and sore feet after a long day wearing them.
The sole of the boots gives plenty of grip and is also nicely flexible so that when walking you don't feel constricted, but do benefit from that flexible cushioned effect that these can give. The boots are easy to pull on and off when needed, as they don't have laces or buckles to faff about with. Over all these are quality boot that can be worn on a daily basis yet still look smart when needed. I have found them easy to clean and very durable when in wear. As far as rating these I have to say they deserve a 5 star rating and I would certainly recommend them.
