Advantages: They look nice.

Disadvantages: Uncomfortable. Cause blisters.

When I was spring cleaning earlier on today, I came across my pair of Clarks Oscar Silk Sandals which I bought last year and can honestly say that I've only worn about three times. I know that some of you may not believe that I'm entitled to have an opinion on these shos bearing in mind that I've only worn them three times, but I have to stress that the ONLY reason I wore these three times is that they were so uncomfortable that I couldn't bear to put them on my feet! I would like to emphasise however that I am generally a huge fan of Clarks footwear - which is why I am so shocked that they were the manufacturers of shoes which really offer nothing in terms of anything positive!

These shoes are sandals which have a hard sole but they are backless and are kept on the foot by a leather strap which goes across the front part of the foot. The look like something that would be comfortable to slob around with in the summer - and this is principally the reason I purchased them in the first place. I bought them online from the Clarks online Store for around £35.00 - which is more expensive than most sandals of this type, but they were Clarks and so I was willing to pay a little extra to have the extra comfort, quality and durability that I associate with Clarks.

I bought the red leather Oscar Silk Sandals - but I did also see them in classic white and black (I'm not sure if there are other colours). The coloured part of the shoe is made from leather and suede - and they feel like this leather is of good quality. The upper sole is cushioned, whereas the flat lower sole is made from rubber.

When I first tried these sandals on, I really thought they felt comfortable. The sole are cushioned and so felt gentle on my feet, and the suede felt soft and comfortable. However, this comfort was unfortunately short lived and after walking around in these shoes more than fifteen minutes, the leather strap started to rub on the top of my foot - and became quite grating and uncomfortable. In addition to this, after a little longer time, the sides of the strap also started to rub against the sides of my feet - to the point that I was left with a blister on one of my feet. At first I felt that maybe I just needed to wear the shoes in, but after wearing them a further two times, I just wasn't willing to put my feel through such tortuous treatment.

Having found these sandals, I'm afraid they are going straight in the bin. I can't think of anything to recommend them.

Summary: Don't put your feet through this!
