Advantages: Comfortable shoes
Disadvantages: Price, quality can be a little iffy
As a child, all my shoes came from Clarks, their shoes were according to my parents the best that you could buy. As I headed towards my teens however I started to feel that quality they may well be, but cool? No way!
So having sworn off Clarks for life as something for old people (no offence meant), I decided to reinvestigate about 18 months ago. The first thing I noticed was the price, I was going to have to pay significantly more for a pair of shoes than I would normally do. Realistically you're looking at at least £40 for most shoes, although they do have the odd flat pair for around £30. I saw a nice pair of black flat shoes for £35 and decided that you have to pay more for quality and it would be worth paying. I'm not so sure it was. I expected them to last and they didn't really, after about a year (and I wasn't wearing them all that frequently) the inside of the shoe turned a horrible tan colour and the shoes looked old and worn, even after a good polish.
I tried again and bought a pair boots in their Christmas sale, they were £55 reduced from £110, which seemed reasonable to me. I wore them pretty much every day from Christmas to March and I think perhaps my first purchase was a one off, I certaintly can't fault these boots at all!
I've since discovered Clarks outlet stores, these are a much better way to buy Clarks, for example just this weekend I purchased a pair of shoes and a pair of sandals for £6!! Yes just £6!! The shoes were red leather flats and reduced from £44.99 to £5, the sandals were gorgeous, they were flat with jewels attached to a silky looking cream material, reduced to £5 from £29.99, however they were on offer - buy one pair and get the second for £1, so £6 for two pair of Clarks shoes. I've worn both pairs for a full day and found them very comfy so far.
Clarks shoes are always comfortable and don't hurt even if your on your feet all day, they are expensive, so I would recommend looking for your nearest outlet and perhaps being a bit picky as some shoes last and some just don't!!
Summary: Keep an eye out for bargains!
