I love a pair of blingy heels as much as the next person. However, on a down day, or even, just a day when heels or ballet pumps just don't foot the bill, my low top converse trainers are a perfect fit.
I own a pair of low top, brown and red trainers which have the white rim around the edge. My dad bought them for me as a present. These trainers aren't the girliest things I have ever worn, but I think this is a good thing, and a clever way of selling them as they can be marked on as unisex. Since I got those I have gone onto buy a different style of Converse, and they have been just as good too.
One particular pair I have are called 'Chuck Taylors' and they have a whole section on them on the Converse Official website. Until I started researching a little more about them and having a look at their site, I hadn't realised that you can actually go on there and design your own pair of converse, by choosing the colours you want etc. I think thats a brilliant idea and they would make the perfect gift for someone, as they would be unique! You can get hold of these directly from Converse, or you can get them in places like House of Fraser and Next. They range from £20-£40 depending on what size you are buying. For the purpose of this review, I am going to do a list of things that I love about these trainers as there are so many!
Here we go...
1. The soles - When I know I am going to be walking for a longer period of time, such as when I am walking the dog I find the soles of my feet can ache and my heels start to hurt near my instep. These shoes are a godsend when it comes to things like that. They are wide so I don't get any pinching and they have lots of padding at the bottom, which makes them unbelieveably comfortable.
2. The design - I love the Converse brand and the pump-type design, with the rubber toes. They are immediately noticeable and the 'All star' label on the back makes them stand out from the number of 'fakes' that are on the market.
3. Softness of the backs - Converse trainers don't have very stiff backs, unlike leather shoes. This means that they do not rub the back of my feet, and thats saying something as I get blisters very easily.
4. Chunky Laces - I have really thick laces with my Converse which makes them really long lasting and strong. I have had my pair for over a year now and not one pair of the laces have frayed. I got two interchangeable pairs of laces in two different colours with mine too!
5. The quality - I cannot fault the quality of these trainers, they even wash well! As said above, I have had mine for over a year and have even washed them over and over again. When I walk the dog, my Converse get covered in mud, and even though they are not waterproof, they do a good job of keeping my feet relatively dry. There are ot holes in them either, as I would usually expect for trainers of their age.
I genuinely have nothing bad to say about these shoes. Even though I have had them for a while, I can see myself having the same pair for a long time!
Overall they are such a sturdy pair of shoes. They have lasted me so long and are suitable to wear with most of my out fits. Most of all, they are the comfiest footwear I own. Would highly recommend.
I bought a pair of Converse Low tops about three years ago. I bought them from amazon, as that was the cheapest place that I could find them on sale. They cost around £35 at the time but they are available for a bit cheaper nowadays, most cost in the range of around £25-£55 from amazon. I think they are really expensive, considering the quality. I have seen much cheaper alterative versions around that are just as good or sometimes even better.
They are available in many different colours. I have seen them in black, white, yellow, red, blue and grey. You can also get pairs that have designs on them, for example little stars patterned all over them, and I have also seen a range once, that were decorated with doodles from Kurt Cobain's sketchbook. So the variety of colours and designs is wide.
The shape of the shoe is shown in the picture. They are a bit like trainers, except they are made from sort of canvassy material rather than leather, which for me is in some ways a downside.
The shoes are laced, and have rubber soles. The shoes look like a more casual version of a ballet pump. Personally I think they look better with the laces tucked under the tongue instead of being tied together.
I have seen a lot of emos wearing these shoes but in black. Normally they wear them with black skinny jeans, I personally don't like wearing these with skinny jeans though. I personally prefer wearing ballet pumps or boots with jeans rather than these. I wear them with trackies and the times I wear them is if I'm doing an exercise DVD or going through a stroll or something in dry weather. You can't wear these in the rain as they are thin and water will leak through. You definitely can't go though puddles in them, and mud seems to stick easily to them and you can't wipe it off easily, and it looks awful. The time of year that I mainly wear these in is in the summer for this reason.
The shoe is comfy but they aren't durable and they definitely won't last forever. Mine are completely wrecked now, and especially as they are white, they look really awful and dirty. They have been through the washing machine a couple of times but have lost their shape a little bit.
Overall I would not recommend these shoes. I think the main attraction when people decide to buy these is the label. But if you aren't that bothered about having brands but like the style of these shoes then I can only recommend that you look elsewhere, for example Primark do a pair that are similar in style and in my opinion exactly the same quality as these - for only £2! And there are so many more like this out there.
If you are just looking for a casual shoe, buy trainers, these are in my opinion not the best shoe you can buy.
Item: Converse All Star Lite OX Low Top's
I'm not really a big fan of trainers, i'd say i'm more of a ballet pump/boots/heels kinda girl but wanted something a little more casual looking for those days when I just want a casual look to go shopping, out for a walk, days out etc.
Converse's Product Description:
Incredibly sleek and infinitely more feminine take on the classic Converse All Star Oxford style. The same canvas upper action with the world famous rubber toe box but with a more refined and streamlined approach Converse is a story of legends, heroes and innovators tied together by the love of sport. Established by Marquis M. Converse in 1908, Converse is an American athletic shoe brand with nearly a century of authentic sports history and footwear innovation.
I decided on the Converse All Star Light OX Low Top's admittedly because of the appearance of the pump as well as reading a few top rated reviews beforehand, my pumps are the exact ones as pictured above.
The converse for me are quite dainty looking, smart and not your typical bulky training shoe, quite feminine which suits a girly girl as myself just fine.
The converse are extremely comfortable, feel really light on my feet, true to size and affordable to suit my budget. I've been pleasantly surprised with how the converse look good with so many of my outfits; boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, straight leg jeans, wide leg trousers, leggings, a cute day time dress..... the list is endless.
Since buying my converse i've worn them quite regularly and they've not worn down at all, i've put them in the washing machine and this hasn't affected the trainer at all, infact they came out just as new as when i first bought them.
A thumbs up from me.
Well, actually Converse are the top choice for my "casual life" and even after trying a lot of diferent brands I always go back to Converse. In a little store right next to where I live the closest shoes I was able to find that match my Converse are Superga. I also tried Levi's with the low top, but honestly I didn't like them all that much.
I tend to use this kind of shoe mainly to take walks, go to the gym, go to my office when I nothing too posh is scheduled and every once in a while to play tennis. I'm not a pro and so the comfort is unparalleled, even better than my Nike sneakers as far as I'm concerned.
I read here and there that they would tend to wear pretty quickly but I have to disagree with this since in my experience all models of Converse are pretty bullet proof! lol The final important selling point is that they are very cheap and for this quality you can't get much better than this.
I really like these shoes. I have been a lifelong fan of converse and have numerous styles and colours over the years. My only reservation has been that I always feel they look too big on my feet. I wear a size 7 but have skinny legs so sometimes my converse feel like flippers!
I have found these much better, they are far lighter than the unisex version so make my feet like slightly more petite! I have bought them in white and wear them with leggings and skinny jeans and they look great.
Unlike some of the other reviewers I have not worn them for sport. However, I wore them at the glastonbury festival this year (it was dry and didn't have to put on th wellies!)l and they were very cormfortable to walk around in. As anyone who has been to glastonbury knows - you do alot of walking!!
I bought mine on Amazon for £24, this does seem to be the cheapest price. However, I did try them on in Office first and found them to be a slightly bigger than standard. I also opted for the classic white, but there are fun colours available.
All in all I think they are a bargain. I picked up a pair of plimsoles from Primark once and they were only £10 cheaper, didn't look anywhere near as nice and fell apart quickly. These are definarely worth the money.
As a fan of Converse shoes I have had a very wide variety of products from the range over the years and one of the styles I have had is the Converse All Star Light OX Low Top Shoe. I have to say that I usually opt for the unisex styles rather than go for this lighter look shoe, because I have found that these slightly flimsier shoes do not suit my feet as much as the other sturdier styles do.
When I bought my Converse All Star Light OX Low Tops they were reduced to £17.99, which I knew was a good price for them. I have seen these on sale for anything from the price I paid up to £34.99 and to be honest as I don't rate them as highly as the other Converse I have, I feel that I wouldn't want to pay more than £25 for a pair of these.
My Light OX Low Tops are a simple variation on the basic style of the classic shoe which are made with womens tastes in mind. The style of these shoes is a little more pointy at the toe end and a bit more streamlined and whilst this is meant to give a more tailored feel, I don't like the way these shoes look as much as my other Converse shoes.
I feel that these shoes are well made and the over all standard is pretty much in line with what I have come to expect from the brand. When I wear these I can really feel that fact that they are lighter than my other Converse and to be honest I just don't find them as comfy as some of the other pairs I have. I do have to say that I didn't have to wear these in at all, but I find that most of the Converse shoes I have bought are similar in that respect.
My particular shoes are in a light check pattern and they have a red line all the way around the rubber edging at the bottom of the shoes. The soles of my shoes have a nice rubber texture with plenty of grip from the textured and shaped design on them and they have remained in good condition since I bought them.
As I don't wear these as much as I do my other pairs I guess to me that certainly shows I don't favour them all that much. I would say that they might be perfect for wear when doing light gym work or areobics and they certainly look nice with casual clothing including jeans. If you want a lighter version of the Converse brand then these Light OX Low Tops will suit you. If on the other hand you prefer the slightly more weighty and firmer feel of the standard Converse shoes then these Light OX Low Tops won't be for you.
To rate my Light OX Low Top Shoes I have to take into account how they fit and feel and how much I want to wear them, verses the price I paid and the over all quality of them. As I feel these lack a little something I cannot rate them as highly as my other Converse shoes, so I am going to give them a 4 star rating which is rather generous, but as I cannot give them 3 1/2 stars I feel thats the fairest rate they could have.
Converse All Star Light OX Low Top are great for wearing to play tennis or if you are working out at the gym, they are a light weight trainer designed for women and wil cost you £25 on Amazon.
You can also buy them at JD Sports for £28 which is where I got mine from as I like to try shoes on before I buy them so buying online isn't a good option for buying shoes for me as you can't try them on and if the width doesn't fit you have to send them back and it takes too long to get the right pair of shoes, whereas in a shop you can see what you are buying and choose the right pair.
These trainers come in lots of colours and sizes but I chose white as I wanted them for the gym. They are lace up trainers and I always think the company makes the laces too long as I have to tuck them in the trainers once they ae tied in a bow.
I've never been sure why they do this but presume it must be a fashion thing as it's not necessary.
The trainers are a snug fit and don't have a big rounded toe but a tapered toe so there's room for your toes to fit nicely, these give the feet the ability to feel the ground better and be more flexable when running, playing tennis or using the machines at the gym.
I don't like the rounded toes where your feet have room to slip around at the end of the trainer it doesn't give you a snug fit or feel proper.
I like these trainers as they can be put in the washing machine wrapped in an old towel so they don't fling around the washing machine, they come out clean and looking new again as if your jogging round the streets they do get dirty.
All in all they are a good light weight ladies trainer, flexible for lots of movement and sports and yet fashionable to be able to wear with jeans.
I like them a lot.
These trainers are supreme in every way. They are light and comfortable and always help you to feel on trend. The colour choices are very good and I am the proud owner of White, Burgandy and Shocking pink. They also have the added bonus of being washable and always come up nice and clean. Price wise they are competitive, as other brands and lookalikes do not last as long. Great for a birthday or Christmas pressie and when the kids wear them too, you know you are on to a good thing.
The deal with Converse is you 'love them' or 'hate them'. I LOVE them!
Yes there are many stores out there you can get shoes very similar for a fraction of the price - but in my experience they wear out, become mishapen, break at the heel very quickly and end up with no grip so you slide about the place very quickly! Not with these little lovelies! I bought a pair for going on holiday and never had them off my feet, they are the comfiest shoes ever, feel rather like slippers
I thought I was an old style Converse person - with the thicker rubber rim, but not once i'd tried these on! They are very light and compact - perfect for slipping into your bag if you think you're going to need a quick change (I swear by sticking my pair in my bag for after a party in heels!)
Yes they are more expensive but far better quality and will last you longer!
I generally like to buy shoes/pumps that have a simplistic design and are fairly cheap. I used to always buy designer shoes at £40 or more but then decided what is the point? so in actual fact, these converse at £25 are still pushing it for price with me since I usually just go for basics now, but nevertheless I decided to purchase them as just a little treat, plus I have always found converse shoes rather comfortable in the past.
The main issue I have with these type of shoes is that it can be hard to find the right size, but when you do, these shoes are worth it because they are comfortable and durable.
What I really like about them is the simplistic design, which is useful because it means these shoes can go with any casual outfit, or can be useful if you just need to go out somewhere quickly and need some shoes to slip on.
Whilst these shoes are convenient and durable, I have come across a slight problem, which is sometimes the shoes can practically crinkle up. The fabric used is not very strong and so it can be easy to say, squeeze the shoe and the shoe end up with dents in.
For the price, I would rather be with my basics.
Converses are brilliant trainers, myself i dont like to wear trainers but i suppose these count more as plimpsoles! My first pair of converses i brought when i was 12, they lasted me a few year but only because i grew out of them..they were still in perfect condition. After that i brought another pair, the Light OX low tops and since then my feet havent grown so i still wear them often enough, they are still in good condition and go with most outfits so i am very pleased with them! If i am too ever need trainers in the future converses would definately be my first option and they are extremely comfortable, cheap and they look quite good too!!
Converse is a brand of designer shoes that all teens and some adults love. Their shoes express young creative teens which are stylish and funky. These are a less sporty version of trainers and more fashionable than plimps.
These shoes aren't too expensive at just £20 for the quality you are gettng. The shoes are soft and comfy and don't hurt your feet even if you wear them all day long. Which I'm sure you'd want to as they are highly fashionable.
These Converse's are lighter and slimmer and just more wearable than the older shoes. This low top design means that the back of the shoe stops just below the ankle. You can get high top designs too but I personally prefer low top.
I find these shoes are pretty hard to keep clean and they need a good scrub very often. I would recommend getting a different colour other than white if you don't clean shoes that often. The sizes they use are very big and spacious so get a size smaller
I really love these shoes and I love the white colour as they are feminine and girly. I would seriously recommend to anyone that wants smart stylish shoes. And to look very pretty.
Converse are definately my favourite brand of trainers to wear. Not only are they highly comfortable but they are also not expensive. I first bought Converse five years ago and in fact I still have them!
They last for such a long time and these Low Top style go with pretty much anything from skinny jeans to a summer dress.
Converse are also good because they come in a range of sizes and as I'm a UK 9, finding female trainers has always been a chore I wanted to avoid but I was lucky enough to find a range of Converse trainers in different colours which had a feminine touch. Pretty much everyone I know has a pair and they have never complained about the quality of their shoes : they are a great fashion statement!
I definately recommend Converse trainers, especially these Low Top ones because they are great especially for this hot weather!
I won a converse competition and won a pair of these shoes in navy blue as part of the prize. Annoying that I already had some lo-top converse in the same colour, I gave them to my sister.
This design may be seen as more in-fashion than other converse designs, with the low top and plimsole shoe look they may be the big thing for the summer.
The design is feminine and goes great with the 'Jack Wills' look of tracksuits.
These shoes are SO uncomfortable, they pinch the foot at the front as they are too narrow and leave a gaping hole at the back of the shoe so they slip off. Im not sure whose foot these shoes where designed for!
The shoe feels less well made and sturdy as the old converse designs, the sole is much thinner and there is less tread and the shoe fabric is thinner. All in the name of fashion I guess!
Also the sizing does not fit with other converse and normal shoes, I am a 5 in normal converse, and a 5 in this shoe I could barely get on.
Not the usual converse nice designs and standard, too aimed at the mass market and not worth the money. I got these for free but I certainly wouldnt buy them!
Not being a huge trainer fan, and living in flip flops or UGGs, I bought these shoes due to needing a suitable pair to learn to drive in. I have had them for around a year of so now, and have lasted very well. In all honestly, I do not wear them a great deal, only when it's necessary to wear a pair of trainers! The quality of these shoes seems to be high, and they are also really easy to clean, as only the white part gets dirty. The limitation of them is that they can rub slightly, even when wearing them with socks. They tend to nip my toes slightly, even though they are not too small, and there tends to be a lot of room at the back of the shoe, like my feet are unneccessarily being forced to the front of the shoe. However, they are a fashionable yet practical item.
