I used to have 2 pairs of converse, a low white pair, and a hi top pair in black. Over the years the hi top pair disintegrated and throughout summer I was just wearing the white pair, which are now so ancient they aren't really white anymore! I was on the school run when I (being quite bored and nosey) was simply looking around at the other parents waiting for their children to come outside when I saw one of the mums wearing these ox canvas converses. They looked really nice with her jeans, so when I was at home I had a browse around online and saw these on sale on office for £25 reduced from £44.99. I also did a little cheeky purchase through quidco to get cashback so I was happy with my bargain purchase!
As I was buying online, I wasn't sure of the size guide, but by checking the converses I already own which are a size 5, I decided to pursue this option and also buy a size 5. Now, it has been a while since I bought new converses but all I can say is OW! They look lovely and stylish, but boy do they hurt and rub my baby toe! I've had these about a week now and they have slowly broken in but I wish they didn't arrive so crisp and stiff!
These ox converses are slightly different to the usual kind, as they have a much thinner rubber sole, and they are slightly flatter and lighter than the traditional type. The front of the shoe slightly turns upwards but I definitely expect that with more wear this look will change and they will flatten out! The sole is quite sturdy though, although not anti slip and for some reason I find they squeak if I wear them at home on the wooden so to avert this, it is easier to just take them off as soon as I get home.
These ones in my opinion look much more stylish as they are neat and fitted (or could be because they are brad new compared to my old ones) and I get loads of compliments on them! They have the usual canvas upper which means they aren't waterproof, but I only wear them in mild weather anyway. I bought these in a very cobalt blue colour, which is quite bright and colourful and can easily be co-ordinated with all my jeans and other outfits in my wardrobe on a low key day. They are laced up, and come up to just around the ankle so means I am able to tighten them to my suited comfort to give the shoe more support.
With quite a bit of wear, these converses are actually really comfortable, trainer type shoes that can be worn every day and I tend to keep them for days when I'm really busy running around doing errands, or the days I finish work at 2 and have to a do a marathon type sprint to get the mini me from school at 3.15. I would definitely recommend converses as they are comfortable and stylish, pretty cheap (if you nab them on sale which you still can!) and so I will give them 4 stars.
