Converse All Star Trainers
Advantages: comfortable, cheap, look trendy
Disadvantages: rub at first, mine lasted 3 years
I used to have 2 pairs of converse, a low white pair, and this hi top pair in black. However, since my hi-top pair becane really busted from constant wear and their became a space at the front where the sole was coming away and I was left with talking shoes! Nevertheless I am going to try not to be biased in my review...!
Converses are actually really comfortable, trainer type shoes that can be worn every day (and I found when on maternity leave when I really couldn't be bothered with looking "glam" I did wear these all the time!) and although they look quite sporty they can be mixed and matched to wear with skirts and trousers etc. I wear mine with skinny jeans as they are†really versatile and make me look quite trendy when I'm having a busy day running around doing errands.
They have a thick rubber sole, and a material upper which means these shoes aren't waterproof. I did make the mistake of wearing them in the freezing cold and I have to say that even with wearing socks and tights my toes were frozen! So being a canvas material upper they do nothing for keeping the heat in :(
They are laced up so means they can be tightened to comfort to give the shoe more support. Likewise, being a hi-top means this shoe covers my ankles and gives me more support, which is great. The hi-top converses costs about £35 but as my mate is a manager of an office concession in house of fraser so I always buy mine with her staff discount!
Size wise these are quite accurate as I am a general size 5/EUR 38 and I have this exact size. For the price though, I don't think its reasonable as I have paid double for shoes that didn't last half as long and I had these for over 3 years.
Another small niggle with converses is that as a brand new pair they rub in my heel something rotten. I overcome this by getting my sister who is 2 shoe sizes larger than me to wear them in for 10 minutes and this makes them a lot better in no time and afterwards they are as comfortable as ever so anyone hoping to buy a pair...DISCLAIMER : you do have to break them in!
Overall, I would definitely recommend converses as they are omfortable and stylish, pretty cheap and although mine lasted 3 years I felt I got my money's worth!
Summary: deep down I'm a lazy and loyal converse chick!
