Converses might seem like they're an investment when you first get them - and I can remember my mum balking at the price for a "pair of fashionable trainers" back when I was at school - but they get worn so much that they are worth it. I have a red checked pair currently, and these are my favourite by far although I started with a pair of hi-tops. Those hi-tops, a previous Classic pair and this red checked pair are the only genuine Converses I've owned, and after experience with an uncomfortable knock-off pair which I wore in quite quickly I'd advise that you get the real thing! Some of those knock-offs can even be more expensive because they're fashion items, but Converse does it best and the best of Converse are the original hi-tops and the classic versions.
You don't see hi-tops too much these days and the classic Converses are just more versatile, as they go great with jeans and with leggings and don't carry the stigma attached to Uggs or other popular shoes. You can even wear them with dresses like Lily Allen if you're into that look. I'd recommend getting a fairly neutral colour like navy, white, or a basic patterned pair, unless you want to be co-ordinating an outfit with your Converses, because for me that immediately reduces their appeal. The classic ones have seen me through everything from hiking to learning to drive, and they've been all over Europe and back!
For sizing, I can't say that they fit me perfectly. I'm somewhere between a 4 and a 5 and opted for a size 5, which makes them baggy but always comfortable. Make sure you don't end up with a smaller pair that rub against your ankle, but at the same time, the material will loosen up with wear. They look even better when they're worn in though!
I am a big converse lover and own many different styles, from the hi top, to the classic ones, including these ox version. I have had different colours, including black, white, blue and leather ones, but when I bought these I decided to get them in a nice maroon colour!
As I was buying online from the shuh outlet website, I am always slightly wary of the size of footwear but having already owned plenty of converses I opted for my usual size 5. I have had these ox converses for almost 2 months now and at first I regretted buying them in a size 5 as they rubbed something awful on the heel and really squished my toes at the front so felt too small in all areas! I had thought about sending them back and exchanging for a size up but knowing how converses always tend to feel in the beginning I stuck to my guns and wore them around the house. Nevertheless, being a new pair they just needed some breaking in (which took a lot of painful walking to get to the comfortable stage!) but once this was out the way they felt beautiful!
These Chuck Taylor All Star Classic Ox converses are really comfortable once worn in, very trendy and can easily match with loads of outfits, as I get away with wearing them with tights and a simple bodycon dress, or jeans and a top and so they are really versatile. They are laced up, and come up to just around the ankle so means I am able to tighten them to my suited comfort to give the shoe more support and they aren't a hassle to wear every day or get on and off. They have the all star logo on the tongue and have a very flat, streamlined look to the design with the white sole and canvas upper.
I always think of converses as a wardrobe staple - so I would definitely recommend these converses as they are comfortable and stylish, reasonably affordable as they are always in fashion and not close to £100 like some other trainers out on the market! Despite the initial pain I tend to get whenever I first buy a pair I will still give them 4 stars.
Converse, an American brand, seem to have been a brand that's always been around in England as far as I remember (though I am young) perhaps so much so that you may think it was an English brand. Anyway Converse are a brand which specify in shoes however they're also in the fashion market though this may not be as popular.
In this review I'm going to write about my Converse All star classic trainers. I as I said above have known about Converse trainers for a very long time though I can't say I ever thought I'd buy a pair. Converse may be seen as shoes for 'skaters' or for 'basketball players' the two obviously very different but those back in the day were my stereotypes. However probably a year before University I decided I actually liked the look of converse and as they gradually become more popular I wanted them more and more and when I got to University and had my student loan.. mixed with a student discount I gave in and bought myself a pair.
Converse can be bought pretty much in any shoe shop selling trainers from sports shoe shops such as JD to other shoe shops such as Schuh, Office, Amazon, ASOS.. or obviously the official converse website. www.converse.com. Obviously prices will range from shop to shop as you may guess but on average £35-45 depending where you buy them from, but I would advise you to shop around first. Though even if you do end up paying £45 pounds for the trainers that's not necessarily a bad deal as the trainers will last a long time and your paying for a brand and other brands are similar prices if not more expensive therefore I believe Converse are reasonably priced, I'm just a cheap-skate being a University student.
Converse I believe are a very very stylish shoe and definitely 'in fashion' whether it be for a child, teenager, or even a mum or dad. The shoes are certainly popular with my age group at University but I believe most ages can pull them off. Converse as a whole do come in lots of different forms and styles however my focus is on the Converse All star Classic which is a much flatter standard trainer with no hi top around the ankle. They are very low cut and tie with laces as a normal trainer would do however the laces are quite wide (wider than most trainers) however this is probably one of Converses trademarks. The very well known converse 'all star' logo is printed onto both the back of the trainers on the sole and on the top of the tongue. I believe this shows the converse are a brand and gives it a more professional and stylish look and I guess you could say shows off what you paid that potentially £40 for. As for the look of the trainers they come in possibly any colour you could think of even sometimes prints and you can actually on the converse website personalise your converse to exactly how you want them this making them a great way to jazz up your outfit! I personally went for the safe option with white converse when I bought my own however since I've had that pair my sister bought me a burgundy coloured pair which I also love! I have to admit my white ones no longer are white due to constantly wearing them on nights out at University. But do not let this put you off getting white converse as they can easily be put in the washing machine as I've done numerous times which doesn't ruin them at all.
You may be wondering are these stylish shoes comfy... They do feel really really flat in comparison to other trainers as there isn't as much of a sole however this is easily got over and I think there very comfy (This coming from someone whos feet aren't in the best shape after injuries and lots of physio). To be honest I even sometimes exercise in mine this showing they really are comfy. I personally wear the shoes with small trainer socks too which do slightly show but this isn't a major issue. Also if you get the right size converse they will not rub the back of your feet and are in fact very very comfy shoes. Though when I bought my first pair I bought a size 3 which then rubbed the back of my feet as they we're too small but if I'm being honest I carried on to wear the trainers and they no longer rub my feet but my sister certainly didn't make that same mistake when she bought me a pair and bought me a 3.5 size. The fact that converse come in half sizes I believe is a great advantage because most people swap and change between shoe sizes depending on the brand and Converse offer a wider range of sizes. If I was to give advice on the sizes I'd say that its probably best to get a smaller size than you usually would as I'm normally a size 4 but size 3.5 is certainly better for me in Converse but obviously try before you buy!
When is it suitable to wear these shoes?
I believe all the time that you wish to do so. I personally even wear them in the rain.. its only if your in the worst rain possible for a long time that the rain will soak through and you end up with very cold wet feet. But most people do see them as a summery kind of shoe which is understandable with the material being slightly canvas type.
What to wear the shoes with?
I really do shove my converse on with pretty much all outfits. I believe there a comfy reliable shoe which always looks good and adds usually a bit of colour and style to your outfit. I personally often wear mine with leggings or skinny jeans or even shorts or a dress depending on what I wear on a night out around University as they are very casual but still nice enough to wear out.
I really would recommend Converse. I think if you like the look of the trainer then it would be a great buy and something you need waiting for you in your shoe rack. I'm glad I bought these trainers there reliable, I've had one pair for over a year now and there still in a wearable condition and they were one of the best purchases I ever got.
Go get yours.
Thanks for reading my review.
All Star are a large very popular brand among all ages especially teens - everyone has seen them around. The shoe itself is available in many colours from black and white the burgundy or pink! The shoe has a thick base, each shoe has the white rubber edges and white rubber toe cap. This Ox version is a low cut style that stops at the ankle. There is a white lace that is also threaded on the shoe. The All Star logo is stamped on the tongue of the shoe and the heel to add that stamp of class. The main materials are rubber, as previously mentioned and the canvas material.
I have had 2 pairs of these shoes, one pair burgundy and the other a slight variation that was blue with a red star on the side. Both of my experiences have been very comfortable! When the laces are done up tightly the shoe is comfortable, you could walk a long distance pain free! Everyone is different, some people may find the top of the heel material digs into their heel as I know people who have had this problem. The shoe is rather strong, I have not had any problems with the build quality! On one occasion I was out at a party in them, the grass turned to mud rather quickly and I thought I had ruined them, as a last ditch attempt to save the I put them in the washing machine. The came out looking brand new!
The pair of shoes cost around £40 in most stores and online. Which isn't cheap but the quality and comfort make it worth the purchase, plus there are so many colours and styles to choose from. I would have a pair for every day of the week if I could! A great investment!

Converse is a brand which I have seen lots of people wearing over the past year and especially during the summer. Their canvas sneakers come in a huge range of designs and colours suitable to go with everything and anything. Converse started as a rubber company, transitioned to sneakers and boots, then they found basketball and reinvented the sport. The converse Chuck Taylor All Star Sneaker (the one I am reviewing) became the court sneaker. From there they moved into other sports with new sneaker silhouettes like the Pro Leather, Star Player and the Weapon. Just when they thought the sneakers were destined for athletes only, they started showing up in rock clubs, on the streets, on rappers and on icons. Converse has now become the sneaker of choice for individuals. Many of you will probably have heard of Converse before and some of you may even own a pair of converse sneakers. I heard of this brand around a year ago and noticed a lot of people wearing them with leggings, jeans and even skirts for a casual look. I loved the look of the trainers and they looked as though they would last a lot longer than my cheap Shoe Zone trainers which aren't the most comfortable shoes ever. I decided I would buy these more of comfort and style rather than because lots of other people were wearing them. I always wear flat shoes to work and these would be perfect for walking to and from work in and also for work in the warehouse. Calling them sneakers is very American so I'm just going to call them trainers.

These trainers are the most famous and recognisable trainers on the planet and they are perfect for off-duty wear and adds a splash of colour and style to your casual look. The Ox version of the Chuck Taylor trainers features a low cut, lace fastening and a toffee bottom sole. It also has the legendary All Star logo to the tongue and heel for a stamp of quality. Although the these trainers come in various colours including red, white, black, pink and blue , I am reviewing the navy pair as that's the pair I purchased. The trainers come in a black and brown box which looks as though it's made from recycled card. On the box it states that trainers they are also it also gives you the size of the trainers as well. If you open the box, this reveals the trainers which are wrapped loosely in white tissue to ensure they don't scuff each other whilst in the box. When taking the trainers out of the box the first thing I noticed was the slightly shiny rubber bit on the front of the trainers which goes over the toe area slightly. As far as I'm aware most of the converse trainers have this.
The trainers were a navy colour which I thought was nice a change from either black or white trainers which is what I normally would have gone for. The white on the trainers which is on the front and the sole of the trainers is bright white and looks very clean, this goes well with the navy colour of the trainers. The front part of the sole is slightly textured and the back has the All Star logo tag on the back. The actual tread of the sole is a toffee colour and it has the size and Converse on the bottom. The material that the trainer is made from is a canvas material so isn't that thick which makes them perfect for wearing during the summer or warmer weather. There are two small holes located on the inside panel of the trainer which allows air into the trainers to help keep your feet cool. There are 6 silver loop holes either side on the trainers in which the white laces thread through to enable you to fasten them up. The laces are a good length and aren't too long but at the same time aren't too short either. The tongue to the trainers is also made from canvas material and it has a large 'All Star' tag sewn onto it. The inside of the trainer is a cream colour and it has 'Converse' printed in black in the heel area. The size of the shoe can be found on the reverse side of the tongue to the trainers. There is some small stitching detail on either side of the trainers near the holes in which the laces thread through.

You can purchase Converse sneakers from a range of different shops including Schuh and Office. You can also purchase them from various places online such as the Converse website and other website such as Littlewoods and Very. Prices may vary very slightly between different stores; how-ever they should all be very similar prices. I paid approximately £54 for my pair of converse sneakers which does seem a little pricey, how-ever I was confident that these were going to be better quality and more comfortable than my previous canvas shoes which I purchased from Shoe Zone for around £10. On the converse website they say that these shoes do come up about half a size bigger, so you may need to go down a size. Please note that they don't do half sizes.
Wearing the Trainers

I wasn't really sure what size to purchase in the trainers as I am normally a size 5 & and half, how-ever as they didn't do half sizes I decided to go for a size 6 as I thought the size 5 may be a little too tight. All the shoes I have purchased recently have been a size 6, so I definitely think a size 5 would have been too tight/small. I personally think these trainers look better with the laces tucked in so this is how I was planning on wearing them. The trainers are really easy to put on which is good as I find some other shoes can feel really tight when putting them on for the first time. As I put them on I needed to pull the tongue up slightly as this was getting pushed down a little into the actual trainer. When walking around in the bedroom (trying the trainers on to check the fit was ok), they felt really comfortable and I didn't find the trainer too tight. They did feel slightly big around the toes; how-ever if I had purchased a size 5 they definitely would have been too tight. The shoe felt light and quite cool. I did how-ever think they made my feet look a little bigger than they actually were which I wasn't too keen on, how-ever I couldn't make them look smaller so they were going to have to do. After walking around the bedroom for a good few minutes I decided that I was going to keep them.
I wore the trainers for the first time to work with leggings and a long vest top. Trainer socks can still be seen when wearing these shoes so I purchased some smaller socks which you can wear with pumps. These were perfect as it meant I could still wear socks with the trainers. I tightened the laces a little before tucking them in under the tongue and then slipping them on. The trainers were easy to put on and although the laces were tucked in they felt like a good fit and were also comfortable. I left the house and walked to the bus stop to go to work. When walking in the trainers they felt comfortable and were a nice fit and didn't slip off the back of my heels which was good as the last thing I wanted was blisters. I wore the trainers for the majority of the day as I was at work. The trainers looked really good with the black leggings that I was wearing. I found the trainers comfortable to wear during the day and was also easy to walk in. My feet didn't really sweat in the trainers, despite wearing socks with them and the trainers didn't cause any rubbing or sore on my foot, even when wearing them for the first time. To keep my trainers smelling fresh I always spray a shoe deodorant in them so I did this with these trainers as well. I have now worn the trainers a few times with jeggings and again with normal jeans. I personally wouldn't wear these with bootcut jeans. As the trainers are made from a canvas material it does mean that they are not suitable for wet weather as they will get damp and I heard that the colour may also run as well so I will only wear these during the summer.

Although I spent £54 on the trainers I wasn't 100% sure if I should have spent the money on these or another brand instead. I am very glad I purchased the trainers as I have been pleased with them so far. I have heard mixed reactions about these trainers, some good and some bad. I personally think that these trainers look great with a range of different outfits including leggings, skinny jeans, shorts and even a denim shirt. These look much better than the cheap Shoe Zone trainers I purchased and they are much more comfortable and a much better fit as well. I like that the trainers come in a huge range of different colours and slightly different styles. I think the quality of the trainers is also good and I expect them to last me over a year as I will only be wearing them during the summer. It's hard to clean the trainers due to the canvas material they are made form so I would advise not getting the trainers too dirty. I love the look and the fit of the trainers so much that I am thinking of treating myself to another colour at the end of this month once I have been paid. These trainers won't suit everyone's tastes but I think they not only look great but feel great as well when you are wearing them.
