After a difficult pregancy I had to swap my high heels for flats. As a result of this my trainers and drving shoes have been over used and are now looking very tired. ( A bit like their owner!) As I was passing my local Office shoe shop these Converse trainers caught my eye.
These are eye catching trainers with their double tongue which you can stick out to make them look that bit different. My ones are a delightful shade of shocking pink with a black and white zebra pattern on the tongue. The have the usual rubber toe and mine have white laces.
Well I love the shade and find the rubber toe very usual for dealing with pram brakes so they still look good. I confess I tend to use the top of my toe when getting the brakes off so scuff shoes a lot. They look good with both skinny jeans and boot cut. I adore the fact that I can keep them plain eye catching pink or jazz them up with the tongue sticking out.
As my son is now mobile I spend a lot of time on my feet chasing after him ( and shouting "No" a lot. I worry he thinks that "No" is his surname). These converse trainers are very comfortable to wear. Unlike some shoes where you can feel the cobble stones beneath your feet the rubberised soles give you a bit of bounce in your step without feeling you are wearing a couple of lead weights on your feet.
Of course as they are mostly canvas they are not waterproof although in general they will cope with a bit of rain. I tend to wear my converse trainers with socks which gives an added layer of protection. So far I haven't noticed any pink dye transferring onto my socks which is a good sign.
Unlike my old Keds which sometimes rubbed a bit on my right heel these have been comfortable to wear from the very start. Despite running after my son and lots of long walks around the park in an effort to tire him out so he sleeps ( unfortunately hasn't worked yet although makes his mum very tired) I havent developed any blisters or sore feet. They have survived park life well although I wouldnt want to take them hiking as they are more of an urban shoe.
I prefer to try my shoes on rather than order online so paid a bit more for them because of that. I got mine for around £41 but I see they are cheaper on Amazon. There are cheaper trainers but I feel these are good quality and comfortable so worth paying a bit extra for. My ones are size 4 and fit well despite the fact that I have a half size difference between my feet. I vary between a size 3 and 4 so if you take a half size Ii would take the bigger size if I were you.
If you want a pair of fun trainers which are also comforatable then these are for you. The double tongue is a nice touch and a good conversation piece. A great excuse to stick your tongue out.
As explained in my previous Converse review, I have owned several pairs of these shoes over the years and they are a definite staple in my collection! The double tongue lo tops are a spin off of the original lo top Converse. They retail for a little more, due to the differing style and depending on where you buy them from, will set you back around £45.
As with the original lo tops, they have the thick rubber sole and rubber cap over the toe, continuing the traditional Converse feel. They are then made of the same fabric with laces from just above the toes, meaning that they continue to be suitable for those with slightly wider feet, due to the ability to open the shoes up by loosing the laces. As previously mentioned, I find Converse to be very comfortable to wear although they take some wearing in when initially purchased. These shoes are great for walking around for long days out and about!
Converse can be washed in a washing machine on a cool wash, then left to dry naturally overnight. This is a great appeal because it means that they can be freshened up when they begin to look a bit dirty!
The shoes are able to be worn with many outfits, they are very versatile in my opinion, even more so with the double tongue. The tongue usually has two differing colours, so it can either be pushed up and worn as normal low tops, or one can be folded over to reveal a different colour underneath, which can look great when worn with jeans and the like.
Overall I cannot fault these shoes, they last well and are comfy. 5/5
These famous shoes are popular for their funky look and wide variety of colours and patterns. This double tongue version slightly differs from the standard style in that there are two different coloured tongues in each shoe, the back one of which can only been seen when the front one is folded down.
Like all converse all stars they have flat soles and are comfy for narrow feet. They are good for casual wear however they are not waterproof. My shoes came with a pair of black laces and a pair of white which so I could double lace each shoe with a funky pattern. However you could just use one colour and keep the other laces as spares.
Having two tongues on each shoe is pretty much completely pointless so I would not recommend paying extra for this converse variety over the standard converse all stars. The shoe in the picture shows a tongue which is coloured on both sides however be aware that not all varieties of double tongued converse shoes have this. On mine, the other side of the tongue is just the same colour as the inside of the shoe and does not look very good when in view so they might as well just be standard shoes rather than double-tongued. It is for this reason that I would rate these slightly lower than regular converse however I still like them and wear them all the time.
I have worn Converse shoes of various designs for years now. The Converse brand is very well known in the UK and although their shoes are probably not considered as high fashion any more, I think they are a standard look that will stand the test of time.
As the name suggests, these shoes are not your standard trainer. As most (or all other) styles of trainers only have the one tongue, these shoes have two. There is no useful application for having two tongues on a pair of shoes, but it does make them stand out style wise and I think they actually look really cool.
The second tongue can be left up, lying directly over the normal tongue, or can be folded down over the laces revealing a different colour. There are loads of different colour combinations and pattern styles to choose from and as far as I am aware the second tongue is always a different colour from the shoe and normal tongue so that it stands out. My pair are navy with a bright yellow tongue, plenty contrast to stand out and be a little different from the crowd.
The shoes themselves are the same as standard low-top converses. They have a rubber toe and sole and thick rubber sidewall before meeting the main canvas of the shoe. With visible stitching these shoes look really good and you can see that they are well made.
I think these are really comfy shoes, in my experience it can take a while to "wear them in" as it were. However once you have wore them for a while, you will not want to wear any other shoes as your feet feel so at home!
A downside with canvas shoes such as these is that they really provide no protection from water. So if you're out and about in heavy rain or accidently stand in a big puddle, then prepare to get wet feet!
These shoes are pretty durable; I wear mine near enough every day and have had them for about 6 months. They still look like they have quite a bit of wear in them yet (although they could do with a clean!).
These shoes are priced at between £35 and £45 in most shoe shops I have seen. If you shop around you could get a good deal but with so many different colour combinations on offer, most shops only stock a few so it depends what ones you prefer.
In conclusion these shoes are well worth 5 stars and I would recommend them to anyone.
A couple of years ago whilst I was thinking what I would like for christmas it just so happened that my Primark plimsolls decided to fall apart. This was not a surprise to me as I had been buying cheap Primark plimsolls for about a year and this was the fourth pair that I had gone through. It was then I decided that I would like a more substantial pair of plimsolls so started looking online and in catalogues for the perfect pair that would be able to survive.
As I was looking through one of the catalogues I came across these converse double-tongue trainers. What sets these apart from ordinary converse trainers unless you haven't already guessed is that they have two tongues.
The main part of the shoe is like the generic converse design which is made from canvas with the rubber toe area and rubber sole.
The double tongue feature is what makes these shoes stand out for me. You can either wear the shoe with the tongue up so it is plain white of have it folded down to unveil a bright blue tongue and a navy tongue.
I really like the design of these shoes as they are classic but with a bit of an edge to make them a bit different.
**Wearing the shoe**
I normally wear these shoes when I am out and about maybe doing the shopping or something as they are convenient and go with just about anything. I cannot say how they perform as a sports shoes as that is not how I wear them.
I am a size 5 so obviously this is the size shoe that I received. My feet fit nice and comfortably in the shoe with a bit of wiggle room for my toes. They do not feel tight in anyway and it is easy to slip my feet in and out. If you do want to tighten the shoe it is easily done by adjusting the laces although I like them a bit more loose.
In the past I have worn plimsolls that rub around the ankles but these fit nicely and the material does not irritate at all.
I can walk around in these shoes all day with no discomfort. In fact these are one of my best pair of shoes for when I know I am going to be doing a lot of walking.
I have worn these shoes with socks and without for when I am going swimming and want something that I can just slide easily on and off. My feet still fit nice and snug with no rubbing when I have no socks on.
As much as I love these shoes I do not recommend them in the rain. My other half has a pair of converse and he has got soaking wet feet on more than one occasion. I have learnt from this and just never wear them if I think there is a chance of showers.
As my converse are in a lovely white they can get dirty. I have popped them in the washing machine and they come out fine although the rubber sole which says 'all star' on the back has began to fade.
**Price and availability**
There is a wide range of colour combinations for this shoe that you can chose from and as a result the prices differ according to your colour choice. You can find these shoes online with prices ranging from £30-£45
I really like these shoes as I can wear them with just about anything that I have in my wardrobe and they still look good. They are comfortable yet fashionable and for that reason I give them the full 5 stars.
--also on ciao--
Converse is the brand of shoe that makes up most of my shoe collection. I was first drawn to the brand a few years ago and I think since then, the Converse shoe has surged in the UK and has probably peaked. They continue to make trainers with new twists though to keep the consumers interested. The double tongue effect appealed to me, I had previously owned a pair of K-Swiss that had a reversable tongue effect, so this seemed right up my street.
Available for around thirty pounds, the double tongue trainers are essentially normal Converse, only with a tongue that pops up and one that you can lie flat. The purpose of this? Fashion darlings! There is simply no other reason to have two tongues, other than to make people look at them and wonder what is going on with the trainer. This is why I like them. I like people to look and think 'oh these look different, haven't seen them before.'
The Converse shoe is made from fabric and has a rubbery sole. They are well made and last for a couple of years or so before starting to show signs of wear and tear. The fabric section looks clean and cool and is punctuated with the lace holes, which in turn are thick and chunky.
These double tongued shoes have sufficient grips on the soles, though they are more a summer shoe and would not serve you so well in wet or icy conditions. I have washed mine by hand and also sent them through the washing machine and they come out fine the other end. The comfort that the shoes offer is next to none. One of the comfiest trainers I have come across and that is why I continue to buy them. It is like wearing slippers. They slide on and off easily, the price is good and they work with so many outfits. As for the two tongues, well that just adds to the street cred charm of them!
Converse is a brand very well known among lovers of trainers, although im sure a lot of people wont have worn a pair, im sure many are aware of what they do. These Converse double tongue trainers are very plain and simple and this is part of the attraction for me. Although I say they are plain and simple, they only 'fit' a certain look and dont suit every style of clothes wear. My pair are exactly the same as the picture black and white with a pine green insole. They are very comfortable although I do find that they are quite flimsy. I dont usually wear these if I intend to be out of the house for a number of hours as I have many much more comfortable trainers. very much a pump design they have a thin rubber sole and a canvas outer with a fabric inner and lace fastenings.
As I said, these are very much casual trainers and I would say they would never ever fit a smart look in a month of Sundays! That said, they are perfectly acceptable to wear about town and for general day use. They also come in a shocking pink colour to suit the ladies! The pink certainly stand out as I know somebody who wears them religiously and i can say now that they dont suit anything she wears!
The soles are plain black rubber and 'All Star' is written on the back of the trainers. The label is a clumsy piece of rubber stuck on there for no purpose other than to carry those words! Overall I cannot say they are the most comfortable trainers and I dont like them as every day use, but they are reasonably hard wearing and will last for a while and are cheap at around £30 a pair. Not my greatest purchase ever and I would say unless you specifically are reading this review to buy these trainers then go for it. If you are expecting to be persuaded then you would be disappointed as these trainers are like Marmite.
I have to say that I am a huge Converse fan and as such when I wanted to review my current Converse Double Tongue Trainers and they were sadly not listed here on Dooyoo I was disappointed. However after a quick as a flash product suggestion they arrived all new and shiny as a product here, so I can share my thoughts and persuade you all to go get some.
Converse shoes have been around for a very long time and I have been a fan of them for some time too. Amongst my existing collection of Converse shoes I have a very funky and comfy pair of Converse Double Tongues. I can highly recommend them as they offer a bit more than your average Converse and look great when worn with 2 sets of laces. What are Double Tongues? Well read on and find out!
My current Converse Double Tongues are in a sleek jet black colour and have contrast colour highlights in bright funky fuchsia pink. The sides back and top tongue of the shoes at the front, are formed with black canvas. The second inner tongue on my shoes is fuchsia pink and the highlight trim, which forms a slim line all the way around the perimeter of my shoes, is in the same funky pink shade.
The eyelets on my shoes are in a simple silver toned finish and my laces are threaded through as a set of 2 full sets. When I bought this pair of Converse Double Tongues they came with both black and pink laces in the box. I have threaded the black laces through first then followed up with the same pattern with the pink laces. This looks very, very cool indeed.
Now you might think why would I even want a pair of Converse Double Tongues, well I can see your point if you have never owned a pair, but if you come up against a fellow Converse fan and you are wearing these, they will certainly admire your style if you have a pair in a great colour combo. I wear mine with both laces and I tend to leave the pink laces tied up permanently for ease of use, this works better than you might think.
Now this may sound impossible to do, but I can assure you its not. If you wear your highlight laces and lace them to the point of them sitting tied up in a bow just under the turned over cuff of the first or top tongue of the shoes, they do not need re-lacing every time you put your shoes on or take them off. I know this to be a good idea, as thats what I do with mine and it works very well.
With the other laces which should be in the main shoe colour or white, (in the case of my shoes being black), you then need to tie these laces across the front of the second inner tongue, which then remains flat as it would with a normal pair of Converse shoes. Tie up a nice bow and double tie it if your laces are overly long and you and your Converse Double Tongues are ready to roll!
Prices for these can vary greatly and do depend on where you buy them and what they consist off. I have seen Double Tongues sell for anything from £44.99 to £29.99 depending on style/ colour/ fabric etc. When I bought mine I was lucky enough to pick them up from a shopping outlet which meant they were reduced to £25. Of course I snapped them up as this is a bargain price for a good pair of these shoes.
Having owned and worn the shoes I have mentioned here for more than a year I have to say they remain in tip top shape. This is in part to them being of a good quality and also in part due to the fact that I have a lot of Converse shoes so I can mix and match them. However I must say I have found both the comfort and durability of these shoes to be excellent. The simple canvass material is backed up by good stitching, hidden supports and a good rubber sole with fantastic grip.
With some of my Converse shoes I have owned have had the odd bit of exterior rubber trim come away from the canvas at times. But I have been able to remedy this quickly with a bit of super glue or nail glue for acrylic nails and a light pressure against the two surfaces. Once this has been done the shoes go on and on and seem to last till you become bored with them and want a new pair. My Double Tongues have so far not needed that treatment and so I cannot rate them with anything less than 5 stars.
