Advantages: Warmer than usual Crocs, comfy, will fit awkward feet
Disadvantages: Appearance for some
As I cannot wear 'normal' shop bought shoes I am constantly on the lookout for any footwear that my feet will fit into and that will offer some degree of comfort. Crocs, although not ideal, are about the best I can get. I have limited choice when it comes to footwear but even if did have a decent choice I don't think I'd agree with those that say Crocs are ugly as I find them quite interesting looking. Okay they don't go with anything dressy and some of the colour options scream out at one somewhat but, mainly I like the chunkiness and the variety on offer. I think they have come a long way since they first were first on sale.
I ordered some Croc boots a few months ago. At this time I had some Amazon vouchers so I decided to also try out some fur lined Croc clogs. I had been considering buying these for a while.
I was going to choose the Mammoth lined Crocs in the roomy fit (not Mammoth Crocband) but noticed they didn't have a back/heel strap and so thought instead, I would opt for the Baya which although of a very similar design to the Mammoth had the straps, yet still offered the wide shoe.
THOUGHTS ON THE BAYA LINED CLOG
I chose this shoe in black with the fur lining also in black. The Baya can be bought in a variety of colours and some have a faux fur lining in a colour which contrasts to that of the outer shoe.
The clog itself is made from the usual moulded plastic Croslite material and has a matching heel strap. The strap can be used for added security or pushed back so the shoe looks like a true 'clog' in shape. I like the strap to be in place if I'm walking a lot but if I'm just slipping the shoes on to nip out to the garden then the strap can be pushed onto the front of the shoe.
The foot bed of this shoe moulds to the shape of one's foot. It is slightly cushioned inside and this, added to the fact that it is lined inside with faux fur makes the shoe soft and comfortable as well as being warm. I have worn these shoes outdoors when the weather has been cold. They are ideal to slip on quickly when taking the dog for a walk or even for a trip to the shops. However, I don't wear these outside when the weather is wet as I find this type of Crocs very slippery on wet ground. But if the ground is dry then they do feel very comfortable and lovely and warm.
I also like the lining because sometimes I feel my big toe rubs on the holes in Crocs but the fur lining stops this happening as it covers the holes.
The shoes can be worn as an outdoor shoe or an indoor foot supporting slipper. Indeed, I think they are ideal for wearing for most of the year in the United Kingdom except for the hottest times, if we have any hot times that is!
The Baya clogs are classed as being of the roomy fit. I find them more comfortable than other shoes and, as my foot problems are pretty extreme, that should be a good recommendation.
The Baya lined Crocs are unisex and are available in a selection of colours for adults and children.
As I have worn a variety of Crocs over the last few years, by now I have a fairly good idea of what type should be the most suitable for me. If you are new to Crocs and fancy trying them then bear in mind that they have different fittings.
The standard fit is the narrowest (although still fairly wide) and wouldn't be any good for me. If you have wide feet, hammer toes, high insteps or other foot problems then you will probably be better to try something in a wider fit than this.
Relaxed fit is still wide and many of the designs come in this sizing. The popular Crocband comes in a relaxed fit and I feel these can look a little smarter than the wider fit yet still be comfortable for most feet, either normal or troublesome.
The roomy fit is the one to go for if you have very wide feet or just want something comfy to slouch around it and be able to conveniently slip on and off.
Also bear in mind when ordering that you need to order in the UK size. They come in US sizes, although the sizes are shown on the outer sole. I wear size five so the shoe will say on the underside US 7, 37.5 cm and UK 5. On the official Croc site you will be advised to order in your usual UK size. If wanting a half size then the advice is to order a size u from that which you would normally wear.
WHERE TO BUY
I ordered from Amazon and also chose free super saver delivery. This meant no extra postage which is good if you can wait a few days. The Crocs arrived within a week.
Crocs are available from some high street stores but these are few and far between in my area. I have found they are easier to obtain when abroad in countries around the Mediterranean. But if you aren't able to travel that far to shop then on-line seems the best way to go with Crocs. They are for sale from many on-line stores.
I would suggest shopping around; even if you don't purchase from the official croc site it's well worth having a look there to see the many designs offered for men, women and children. I find it is also worth having a look at the Crocs outlet store where genuine bargains are to be had.
Crocs sell boots, slippers, Clogs, sneakers, shoes with wedge heels, shoes with and heels as well as flats, flip flop type shoes and sandals. There's a great choice in colours, some being bright and funky and others plainer and perhaps of a slightly smarter appearance.
Crocs can be expensive but I usually buy when on offer. As I have mentioned the Crocs outlet is a good place to buy and even the Crocs site often has good sales on.
I mostly buy from Amazon; a look around usually will find a bargain or two.
I'm not sure exactly how much I paid but think it was less than thirty pounds. This was from Amazon. They are currently on sale in black from Amazon for the price of £28 (adult unisex). Different colours often sell for different prices with Crocs.
These Baya lined in black can be purchased from the Crocs site for the price of £24.99. They were selling for £34.99 pre-sale.
Summary: A good purchase in my case
