Crocs are not to my personal taste. I find them clumpy and unflattering and I am not really sure what type of outfit they actually go with. Needless to say, I don't own a pair myself! However, when I noticed one of my friends had bought a pair for her son who is the same age as mine, I was intrigued to know her opinion. I was looking for some summer shoes for my son and had purchased some doodles from Clarks but these were a little more closed in than I would have ideally liked. She told me that her son loved them, they seemed really comfortable and were ideal for garden play/the beach. My son has quite wide feet so I usually only buy Clarks shoes as they have the width fitting, but these looked quite wide so I decided to buy a pair.
After having browsed around online, I decided I liked the look of the crocband crocs. As pictured above, they have a thick white sole with a coloured line through it. I felt these were more attractive that the crocs that were all one colour. I purchased him some in Navy, which had a red line, in kids size 6-7 from Amazon for around £15. My son is a size 7 so I was a little dubious about the sizing in case they came up a little small, but I felt there was little choice as the next size was 8/9 which would be much too big!
The crocs are, as pictured above, a fairly plastic looking shoe. The top of the shoe has several holes in it and there is a strap that is hinged and can be pulled up around the ankle and back of the heel to hold the shoe on. The material feels like a rubber-plastic and is soft but firm. The sole is very thick and the shoe looks supportive too. The shoes fitted my son's feet well, despite my initial reservations. They seem fairly wide and his size 7 feet were snug but not squashed in the shoes. The only thing that took me a bit of time to get use to was pulling the back strap up over his heel - this felt tight initially but it didn't seem to bother him or rub at all.
My son will always choose these shoes to wear if given a choice and this to me indicates that they must be comfortable to wear. He can wear with or without socks and the style of the shoe helps to keep his feet cool in warmer weather. They are perfect for the beach as they protect his feet in the sea without getting ruined and dry out quickly - likewise for garden play. They stay on his feet well and we have only had one issue with them - once, on a trampoline, he somehow pulled the ankle strap off. However, with a little persistence, we managed to poke the pin that holds them in place back through and it is as good as new. We have had the shoes several months now and they have lasted well, they have not worn at all and they have never rubbed on his feet. I would never put him in these to do lots of walking as I don't believe that they offer enough support for that and I prefer shoes that have been properly fitted for this purpose, but for playing in the garden these are perfect!
