Advantages: A great comfy slip on.
Disadvantages: Not glamorous !
When Crocs were first introduced to the market I took one look at them and vowed that I would never be seen dead wearing the ugly old things but things have moved on since then. My friend bought a pair, she thought they were the latest thing since sliced bread, she customised her Crocs with some novelty Croc buttons. I soon started to look at the lightweight shoes in a different light and before I knew it I was the proud owner of a pair of crocs.
But I bought my pair of Crocs towards the end of the better weather and I am now limited to wearing them indoors because my feet get chilly.
But at Art class a few weeks ago a fellow dauber had an awesome looking pair of Crocs on her feet, I thought that she had just stuck some boot socks inside of her normal Crocs to keep her feet warm - until I carried out a full examination during coffee break !
Joan filled me in with the details, the Crocs were called Mammoth Crocs, the same odour resistant, lightweight Croc constructed from Croslite but they come with a removable fleece liner.
I know Crocs are not the most elegant of footwear but Joan was wearing her jeans and sweatshirt and they looked the ideal footwear to match her outfit.
The Croc clogs have no strap at the heel, I like this because it means that the clog is easy to pull on. But you do have to get used to having no strap, it is essential to take care when you are walking downstairs.
The Crocs Mammoth have a slightly higher heel than the normal unlined version and because you are buying them with a foot warming fleece that fits inside you may need to move a size up from your normal foot size. I take a size 5 and I ended up with a size 6.
The Croc mammoth clogs are available in a few colours, navy/oatmeal, khaki/oatmeal, cotton candy/oatmeal, grape /oatmeal, chocolate/oatmeal, chocolate/chocolate and black.
I have a black pair, call me boring but black is not a colour that stands out in a crowd and it will mix with most other colours.
The Croc clogs are superbly warm and comfortable and the only drawback is that once you slip your feet into them you are reluctant to wear anything else.
The fleecy liners are washable but when you try to remove the liners for the very first time it can seem a little bit daunting. As you start to remove the liner it actually feels that it is going to split but the whole art is to `unhook` the liner from the side rivet/button and then you can remove the liner with ease. When you put the liner back into the Croc clog you need to remember to tuck the liner over the back of the heel to secure it into place.
I just hand washed my Croc liners and dried them on top of the radiator, they washed well.
The holes at the sides of the Croc clogs have been filled in, this allows you to wear the clogs in wet weather without fear of getting soaking wet feet. But if you love the pretty charms and buttons that you can attach to your Crocs then you can still fit them into the ventilation holes on the top of the clog.
Because the Crocs let your feet breathe I find that my feet stay comfy, any foot odour can soon be sorted out by washing that fleecy liner.
The Croc clogs are light and very pliable and your feet can bend freely which is a lovely feeling.
I chose the black clog with the black fleecy liner and they cost me £24.50 from E bay. Maybe that seems a lot to pay for what is in actual fact a pair of plastic clogs but they are very comfortable and convenient.
I agree they are not fashionable or shoes that you would wear for an evening out but for everyday wear the Croc Mammoth clogs are the bees knees.
Summary: Great for casual wear.

- 04/11/09 I have never seen these furry ones. I have an ordinary pair for nipping to the shop and going out to the garden in. Well great read! |
