Advantages: Great summer shoes for outdoorsy kids

Disadvantages: Ugly

Never in my life did I actually think that would be parting with our hard earned cash for a pair of these monstrous shoes....hmmmmm.... ok well a couple of years have passed since my initial repulsion and I have indeed just purchased a pair for my three year old daughter.

I am still 100% commited to my resolve never to wear these ugly creatures on my feet but for my daughter I really couldn't think of anything better for the summer that we have got planned. Most of my friends with children have told me many times how great crocs are for kids during the summer and how pleased they are with them. My daughter is also getting to the slightly impressionable age and she saw her best friends crocs and desperately wanted a pair on her own.

Due to the credit crunch, holidays aboard are not an option for our family this year and instead we will be dusting the tent off and trying to fit in as much camping as possible in the English summer. It was mainly for this reason... and the constant nagging from my scrummy little girl that last week I made the trip to the shops and bought a pair of sky blue crocs for my little girl.

Firstly I could believe how light they are, I can't say for how they feel to wear but my daughter says that they are very comfortable. Already she has worn them every day in the garden and they did really come into their own during a trip to the beach last week. It was great not to have to spend ages trying to get the sand out of her shoes and she way able to keep them on her feet while she had a little paddle in the icey cold water.

I do think that they will also be great for our camping trips, it will be great for her to have something she can just slip on going in and out the tent and will also be great as she can keep them on while showering in the campsites shower blocks.

I paid £20 for her croc from our local camping supplies shop, which is a lot of money for what is essentially a bit of moulded plastic but I do think she will wear them heaps and I will get my moneys worth out of them... and will probably end up buying her another pair next year. Still positive that I won't be wearing them though!
