The brand DC was founded in 1993 and are well known for their skate and snowboarding wear. They are now a global company which over the years have expanded from producing men's skate shoes to women's and children's products as well. DC no longer just make the shoes but they also make skateboards, snowboards, clothing and accessories and going even further they have athletics behind them doing BMX, skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing and more. What started out as a skate brand has turned into a common fashion shoe.
I wanted my first pair of DC skate shoes when I was fifteen years old and I knew Christmas was fast approaching. Getting all excited I browsed the internet for hours and hours searching for the right ones for me. The ones I originally wanted where black with a grey DC logo on the side. Putting forward my list of ideas for Christmas I specifically said that I wanted these shoes even if I don't get anything else! On Christmas morning I remember the feeling of unwrapping that box to reveal a big DC logo on the box, not being able to contain my excitement I ripped open the box too to take a good look at them, they were not the ones that I wanted but they were black with a big pink DC logo on them, I still loved them so much.
My feet had grown to their full size at a really young age and I was a size six from the age ten and luckily they stopped growing because they still are. These shoes were a size 6 but trying them on I have enough spare room around my foot for it to be comfortable without being too loose but it's nothing the laces wouldn't sort out. Looking at the shoe it's made of black suede like material including the pink DC sign, this really makes the shoes stand out and is noticeable to anyone who knows who DC are. The sole seems a fair size and there is definitely a lot of grip.
Sliding my foot inside these feel bulky inside, the sole inside in stead of being flat it has a little bump in the middle where the curvature of your foot is, this makes it very comfortable as the sole fits the shape of my foot. The thickness of the sole is very noticeable on my foot, when I stood up it was slightly springy but really comfy. The tongue of the shoe was extremely padded too so when I did my laces up I made sure they was quite loose and this made the shoes really comfortable.
I used to always wear these almost everyday and I wore them most of the time with my black or blue skinny jeans. It was just something simple that made the shoes stand out, not having much fashion sense at that age I can't say what I might of looked out but these days I would probably wear them differently. I sued to walk everywhere and these were great for walking long periods of time and great distance. I found that these were brilliant in the snow and ice because of the amount of grip on the bottom, this is of course useful for people who skate.
After time and me wearing these day in and day out, because I put more weight on my heels that my toes when I walk I found that the heels in the shoes wore down more than anything and did eventually end up getting some holes there. I have no idea about the price of these but they were definitely the best shoes of my young adulthood.
Several years ago I decided it was time to get a new pair of shoes, I searched around for ages and eventually came across these as ones I like. I'm so glad I spent the money on them. Now I own two pairs and they have both been in constant use.
DC sell loads of different colours in these shoes so whatever you're taste, you are likely to find one that you like. The first pair I bought were pale blue with a velvetty finish, like the one displayed. I usually have trouble with shoes, they need breaking in and making comfortable. But from the moment I put these on I knew that wouldn't be the case. I wore them constantly for at least 2 years, and I mean every day. I use to walk a 20min trip to uni there and back each day and after 2 years they still looked like they could take the usage. In the end I decided I needed a new pair of shoes because I was bored, not because I necessarily needed them.
Again when I went to the shops I was drawn to the colours of these brand, the style and knew how good they were. Unfortunately I was swayed at the last minute by another pair, oh how I regretted that decision. I have now gone back and bought another pair of DC Graffik. My feet are back to comfort, back to style and back to quality.
When I got my shoes they came with a choice of laces so I could match the laces to the colour of the shoe. I thought this was a really good idea and meant that there was colour throughout, however, for those that prefer you could use black like the picture.
The first pair I thought were expensive, I was hesistant about spending that much money, however, due to the quality of the shoes, I believe they are worth the money. You won't need to buy a new pair every year so it's money saved. Next time I need shoes I will head straight to this section and not think twice about the price, they last.
After 4 years now I have sadily had to say goodbye to my first pair, I have totally worn the soles through. However, the top of the shoe is still looking great, the colours are still lovely and bright and the velvety material has lasted. I have put these in the washing machine and they came out glowing.
The only flaw in the design is like most other trainers they have no grip, the soles are flat and smooth with just a few ridges. Most of the time this doesn't bother or affect me at all, it's just something to watch out for on those wet days.
So I believe that these are really great shoes. They are so comfortable, great colours, great styles. Good quality and very readily avaliable. I see them in many shops around. Don't let the price put you off.. buy these!!
court graffik come in such a huge range of colours and patterns they can suit any style. my personal favourites are the hologram styles, although these are pretty hard to come by.
generally two new styles of court graffik are realised every year. They are the same basic style, and the base colours are usually black or white. White is always leather and black is usually available is suede or leather. The colour and material of the large DC logo changes every season, and the colour of the logo matches the colour of the rubber sole.
court graffik are a pretty padded shoe, with a comfortable and flexible sole. Although they're designed as a skate shoe, you can wear them for just general wear, although I don't think they have enough support to wear for running or sports.
Because the tongue especially is really padded, they feel a bit tight when you first get a pair, but they soon soften up and 'mould' to the shape of your foot. They're so comfy you'll find yourself wearing them years later, even if they look really tatty.
I find that because of the loose fitting that the back of my DCs gets worn down quickly and the padding becomes exposed, but this doesn't really cause any problems, the shoes are still really comfy.
The main thing that bothers me with DCs is that because the sole is so soft and flexible (which does make them really comfortable) they get worn down pretty fast. That's the main thing that shortens the life of court graffik.
court graffik are available in leather and suede. the leather ones are really easy to keep clean and looking good but they suede ones do wear down a little faster. protecter sprays do help a little but they're still not as hard wearing. The designs are really well applied and i've never ever had a problem with them fading or coming off.
DCs are generally a little bit more expensive than other skate shoes on the market. Although you might be paying for the brand, they are really comfortable and stylish.
For quite a few years I wore converse trainers everyday. Eventually, I got fed up with how cold your feet were when you wore them for more than a couple of hours, and how they wore out quickly.
So I went in search for a new brand of trainers, ones that would be much more durable and comfortable. I found these shoes in Schuh, retailing at £49.99.
The look of these shoes are gorgeous. I love the striking hot pink on black suede. They appear quite wide in comparison to my old converse, but I found this is what was lacking from Converse shoes to give warmth.
The shoes have the DC shoes logo at the rear of the outer side of each shoe in a metallic material, as well as a smaller logo at the top of the tongue. A very small rubber version of the logo is located at the tip of the shoes. The sole of the shoes are also pink to match the large logo.
There are many different colours available for the logo, sole and main body. They are also available for men.
The shoes come with a second pair of laces, to give you a choice. The original laces are plain black, and flat. The spare pair are black & pink, which are a more traditional tube shape.
Overall, I really like the aesthetics of these trainers.
Next, to the comfort of them. These trainers are extremely comfortable, with the foam padded tongue and collar. They keep your feet very warm in cold weather. Added vent holes mean that your feet do not get too sweaty when worn for long periods of time. The only disadvantage is that, when you step in puddles deep enough, you might experience some water come through these vent holes.
These trainers also grip very well, and I'm sure this will please those that purchase these shoes for skateboarding.
These shoes are also extremely durable. My old Converse used to wear down quickly, and the soles would eventually come away from the fabric. However, these are excellent with not a fault on them, after owning them for the best part of a year.
Therefore, these shoes really are proportionate to the price with their quality - an excellent pair of trainers!
