Fashions come, fashions go, but through them all, the classic Doc Marten boot, the 1460 Air Wair brand, remains virtually unchanged. It's hard to believe that this classic boot is now fifty years old! But that's where it got its 1460 name from: the date of its introduction to the UK on the first of April 1960 (1/4/60). Once the mainstay of the working class, the Doc Marten 1460 boot has somehow managed to become a cultural icon of the past fifty years. Not bad given that it was the footwear of choice for so many subcultural and countercultural groups over the years - skin heads, punk rockers, you name it, they adopted it. Generations of young people came ... Read the complete review

I can honestly say that I have never been without at least one pair of these quintessential boots since I bought my first pair at age 15, some 17 years ago! My first pair were an incentive to pass my GCSEs (I had sat two a year early) and they were a present from my beloved Grandad. They nearly started a war in my house when, much to my mother's disapproval, I insisted on wearing them to school for the whole of my final year. They were a standard 8 eyehole black pair. Classic in style and quickly customised by myself with colourful laces, beads and (I am ashamed to say) some flowers drawn on in tippex. That pair lasted me a good ten years, in fact I ... I do a lot of walking about during the day and I like to wear flat comfortable shoes. I wanted some sturdy and reliable walking boots that would be good for long day trips and wearing around town during the day as well. I particularly wanted something that would provide me with a strong grip and support as well as keeping my feet warm during the cold weather. These "1460" boots are made by Dr Martens, and are an iconic lace-up ankle boot recommended by just about everyone I have ever met. I bought mine from www.amazon.co.uk during a sale where they cost me around £45.00 including postage + packing, but the going price now is about £60.00 and upwards. ... Read the complete review

Utter the name Dr Martins and it sounds like some kind of lotion or potion, instead of a pair of bovver boots. I have had a pair of these iconic boots in simple black leather and they have been great for me. Dr Martins boots are a fashion statement as far as I am concerned and every wardrobe could do with a pair. I like the fit of my Dr Martins and I have worn them with a good variety of outfits. I think these can look good when worn casually or even when worn with a suit or smart gear to give a more modern twist. If buying them in a plain black leather like mine, they will go with almost anything and not look out of place at ... Read the complete review

I have loved Dr. Martens ever since I was about 10, unfortunately my mother didn't agree! She thought they were too 'manish' and wouldn't look good on a girl. Fast forward 11 years and I have now had these hot pink boots for nearly 2 years and they are fantastic! Even my mum admits that the pink is actually quite fun and makes them more attractive! They were actually the first thing I bought when my student loan came in, I'd had my eye on them for ages and bought them for around £60 at the time. They were slightly uncomfortable the first week or so of wearing, but like most leather boots, once I had broken them in they were amazingly comfortable! I especially ... Read the complete review
