Dr. Marten's Unisex 1460 Boot
Advantages: Everyone should have some
Disadvantages: They need to be worn in
Utter the name Dr Martins and it sounds like some kind of lotion or potion, instead of a pair of bovver boots. I have had a pair of these iconic boots in simple black leather and they have been great for me.
Dr Martins boots are a fashion statement as far as I am concerned and every wardrobe could do with a pair. I like the fit of my Dr Martins and I have worn them with a good variety of outfits.
I think these can look good when worn casually or even when worn with a suit or smart gear to give a more modern twist. If buying them in a plain black leather like mine, they will go with almost anything and not look out of place at all.
When I bought my Dr Martins I paid £54.99 for them which may seem a lot but as they last so long I don't think its too much. The make up of these boots is classic and the quality is really good.
I have found that over time the soles of Dr Martins have changed slightly as they now look almost clear. The look and feel of the flexible soles is not as I remember it when I first began to wear these, but I like the way they have moved with new technology. The tread patterns are still in line with how they were.
The soles on my boots are a semi see through colour that has a great amount of flex to it and I think this makes my Dr Martins even more wearable. The air cushioned soles are great and give good comfort when the boots have been worn in.
When I first got my boots they took some time to wear in well enough for them not to rub my feet. The leather is softer than on some of the older style Dr Martins but it still needed time to blend to my foot shape.
I would say that this is the case with the other pair of Dr Martins I have had in the past too. They do become comfortable with wear if you stick with them, but that wearing in time can be a pain.
The stitching on my boots it very neat and stands out in a contrast honey yellow against the black leather in the sole area of my boots. The eight eyelets do take a bit of time to lace and re lace and thats my only real bugbear with the boots. Other than that I think they have lots to offer and would not be without them.
Summary: They last for ages
