Advantages: Comfy, keep feet warm, versatile, fashionable, very durable, high quality

Disadvantages: Need breaking in unless you buy them secondhand, heavy

I've had my pair of doc martens for around five years now and I don't think I'll ever get rid of them! I went through a stage of wearing them pretty much everyday and then I just lost interest and moved onto uggs and ballet flats but in the past year or so ever since Vintage fashion started to become more popular I've been wearing them more often.

Doc martens are a very well known and iconic brand of boots and they've been around for ages. They're fashionable but they're also incredibly durable and they can be worn as work boots as well as casual boots. I've got the classic 8 eye boots which are the shorter version - they're longer than ankle boots but not so long that they make my legs look stubby!

They come just under mid calf on me which took some taking used to when I first got them as I was used to trainers and flats. There are a lot of different designs available in the doc marten range of boots and I have the 1460 which is unisex. Doc's aren't the most feminine boots but the black ones are great for grunging up outfits to add a bit of a twist. I have the black ones but there's a huge range of colours and designs available including bright pink, lime green, floral prints and so on.

The design of the boots is very distinctive and because of the yellow stitching, thick rubber sole and the legendary black and yellow Doc Marten label on the back it is easy to tell that they are genuine Doc's rather than a cheap dupe. They also have the Doc Marten logo on them engraved into the material which also says 'all cushion soles'. Because mine are black this isn't very noticeable though.

The boots are made of thick, good quality leather which was really stiff at first but over time it has softened. The material is waterproof and easy to clean as well. I've had my pair for around five years and the material is in amazing condition. There are a few minor scuffs and slight creases because I've got so much wear out of them over the years but this just adds to the vintage look. The boots took me about a week to break in when I got them which I remember being quite painful but after that I was able to wear them everyday.

My boots came with black laces but they're easy to change and I decided to put some pink laces in for a bit of contrast and of course to make them look a little more girly! The boots are easy to style and it's really fun creating different looks. They look great with literally everything in my wardrobe including my floral dresses, dark skinnies, pale skinnies, leggings, jeggings, knicker shorts, cut offs.. the list is endless, it's literally impossibe for these to clash with an outfit!!

I have these in my usual size five and they're a perfect fit. They've adjusted to the shape of my feet over the years and there's plenty of space for socks as well - I love pairing these with chunky knit socks and the socks don't make the sides bulge or anything. I like that the laces can be tightened so that the boots cling to my leg rather than there been space between my leg/ankle. The boots cushioned sole makes them comfortable to walk in and the grips are incredibly strong so they can be worn in any weather.

The only disadvantage that I can think of is the weight - they're a lot heavier than normal boots which took some getting used to. I do recommend them though and I love my pair. I paid around a hundred pounds for mine but the current retail price is around the £80.00 mark which seems expensive I know but they're well worth it considering how durable, versatile, fashionable and comfortable they are!!

Summary: 5/5
