A lovely pair of casual shoes

My love of shoes knows no bounds! With the summer coming up (should it ever stop raining) my winter wardrobe is slowly starting to be pushed to one side and the more spring/summer type clothes (and shoes) are making an appearance. Regardless of how many shoes I own let me loose in Dune and I can come away with a pair or two quite easily. However, on this occasion it was Mother's Day and I was shopping with my mother and my 2 sisters who are all shoe obsessed but we of course found reason to buy ourselves pair of shoes as well we are all mothers - except my younger sister who doesn't need much persuasion.

The pair I bought was a relatively safe choice for me as I normally opt for the gorgeous skyscraper heels but with the summer coming and that my daughter is a speed demon I wanted a more casual, flat shoe and not one that is black in colour which most of mine seem to be. I opted for a lovely pair called Lorris and they are a gorgeous leather flat moccasin type shoe and I do love moccasins (I have a few reviews on them!). I bought the pale pink version as the colour is incredibly delicate but subtle enough for them not to look too pink especially for a casual shoe, I am not one for bright colours so these are perfect.

Although Lorris is a flat shoe and is casual in style it still has an elegant twist with the threaded ribbon detail which is visable and the lovely little bow, these details just give the shoe a bit of added style which they so desperately need to make them a bit more interesting. However, the moccasin style of shoe is classic in its own right but the ribbon just sets the shoes off perfectly and of course the ribbon is colour co-ordinating with the shoes. Being a pale pink colour they do need to be worn with care as marks will show up easily so you do need to be a little careful when wearing them!

The shoes themselves are made from leather which is incredibly soft and supple already. In fact all of the shoe is leather but being Dune the quality is lovely and hardly any breaking in is required. One thing to mention is that because they are made from quite a soft leather in the first place you may notice that they will stretch so I would suggest that you go into store to try them especially if you are a half size as they may stretch enough so you won't have to go up a size. I'm quite glad I tried them on in store as I managed to get away with a 5 instead of a 6 and now I have worn them several times and the leather has given a bit more they fit perfectly.

The shoes are flat, there is hardly a heel to them so if your feet do need a little support especially the arch then you may find these uncomfortable. Again, because the leather is so soft there is no real support around the sides of the shoes but for me they are absolutely fine but I do have the sneaking suspicion that they may gape with too much wear which will be a shame as once they start to gape they can loose their shape altogether. Like most shoes from Dune I have found that they are naturally quite a narrow fitting so if you have wide feet then you may find them slightly uncomfortable to begin with until properly stretched and broken in.

I've had my pair since Mother's Day and worn them on quite a few occasions and they are lovely to wear. They haven't rubbed or caused any discomfort whatsoever which of course is great. I do however have to be extra careful when wearing them as I am so conscious about marking them as the colour is so delicate however they are currently mark and scuff free! In order to keep them looking their best I do clean them with a suitable leather shoe cream to help protect the leather and reduce it from creasing especially as the leather is so soft. I really cannot complain about them so far although I am aware that they may start to gape at the sides if I over wear them which is a shame but I do have plenty of other pairs of shoes to wear instead!

Overall, these are a lovely pair of casual moccasins which really do brighten up a pair of jeans or ¾ length capri style trousers. I have found my pair to be incredibly comfortable and the quality is what I expect from paying a little more and from a brand such as Dune. No faults from me and I would definitely suggest them if you are wanting a pair of casual flats other than ballet pumps.
