A great pair of casual shoes

Despite having so many different styles of shoes in my collection I do have favourites, the shoes that never rub, shoes that are completely comfortable for hours upon end and those that you can just about get away with wearing with anything. In my ever expanding collection I have quite a few pair of wedges. I find that wedges are incredibly comfortable especially when wearing them for quite a substantial amount of time. They come in a wide variety of styles which for me makes them quite a versatile shoe.

One pair of shoes that I have spent many hours in is a pair by Dune called Montage. As soon as I saw them on the Dune website earlier this year I knew I just had to have them! My theory behind my purchase was that I could wear them to work and they would be great to wear outside of work i.e. everyday wear and out on an evening so I would definitely be getting my monies worth.

Dune Montage are a leather wedge shoe which is available in either black or taupe. I opted for the brown leather as I thought it was a better colour for the spring/ summer and that I already have a tendency to be drawn to black items and I'm trying to wear other colours!

Dune Montage have a fringe at the front of the shoe complete with leather tassels which sit just about the wide peep toe. The shoes are done up with a colour co-ordinated zip at the side which is quite small (I do wonder why they actually needed a zip as the shoe fits just below your ankle and would probably be easy enough to slip on). The heel is about 9cm which for me is the normal height I have but walking in these is so easy compared to stilettos due to the wedge as the whole foot seems a lot more supported.

I have to admit that I have never had a problem with these shoes and rubbing, the leather is incredibly soft and does give a bit after they have been worn for a while. Sometimes with peep toe shoes I find that my toes get crushed which eventually becomes quite uncomfortable but as the peep toe is quite wide on these shoes meaning that my precious toes have plenty of room. It may not bother some people but it is a big gripe of mine as I really don't want rubbed toes especially if I'm wearing the shoes for quite a while.

The shoes don't have a platform whatsoever and they do lack a bit of support on the ball of the foot as the footbed of the shoe isn't really padded which even though I personally don't find this uncomfortable some people may. One thing I have noticed is that because the wedge of the shoe is also leather that they can scuff easily as I have unfortunately found out however keeping them polished and in good shape will make them last a very long time. I have had mine since the beginning of spring and they still look as good as new except for a few minor scuffs.

Dune Montage as I said are available in both black and taupe but from doing a bit of googling I can only find them in the brown colour on the Dune website. They come in sizes 3 to 8 and cost £90.00 per pair which even though is slightly expensive I find that they are incredibly versatile and they are made of very good quality leather. I know they definitely won't give up the ghost after a few months of wear and I will be happily wearing them again next spring.
