Advantages: well-made, long-lasting
Disadvantages: the claims made by the manufacturers didn't come true for me
Earth Shoes are a brand that claim to give the wearer an extra workout of the legs and bottom, and I have had mine for around 4 years now so I am well-qualified to write this review :)
The main pair of Earth shoes that I have tried and tested are called 'Pacific'. They are black leather lace-up's and basically look like trainers. I bought them from a website called lovethoseshoes.com . I am not sure if 'Pacific' is still available from them, but there are many other similar equivalent styles.
They are quite clumpy and not particularly feminine, but I was willing to try anything as I always want to tone up and/or lose weight - who doesn't?
I wore them continuously for around two years - school run twice a day, out shopping, I even wore them on holiday while walking around all day long.
They feel quite comfortable on your feet, and of course being lace-up's you can adjust them to suit your feet perfectly. When they are on, they look like normal shoes or trainers, unlike their rival the MBT shoe.
You do feel a bit strange when you first put them on and stand up in them, as you can feel the 'negative heel' inside the shoe - Basically your heel is slightly lower than your toe, making the back of your legs 'stretch' a bit.
When you start to move around and walk in them, you can feel a stretching under your feet and up the back of your leg, so you do 'feel ' something happening, and it's actually harder to walk and really feels strenuous, so you think they must be 'doing something'.
Now for the bad news:
I can honestly say though, there is absolutely no difference in the size or shape of any of my body parts, and I really did wear these shoes all the time for quite a long while. I don't think I am any fitter or healthier than if I walked the same amount in any comfortable walking shoes.
I do quite a lot of walking and yes, they are good, stable and sturdy walking shoes, but in my experience, that is all they are.
A positive point about them is that I have still got them today and they are not showing any signs of being worn out any time soon, so they are very good quality and well-made - they cost me around £70.00, which I think is about average for any good trainers or running shoes, so the price is probably average.
Summary: Buy them if you want a good walking shoe, but don't expect miracles
