“ Brand: Miss Selfridge / Type: Peep Toe „
This year I seem to have fallen in love with flat peep toe shoes as I think they look so nice on with jeans and leggings, which is what I seem to be living in at the moment.
I saw the Elfin cross over peep flat sandals with buckle detailing on the Miss Selfridge website a couple of months ago selling for £25. Even though I do not usually tend to buy non leather shoes (these are 100% man made) I fell in love with them straight away and did not hesitate to get my debit card out and buy a pair in tan (you can also buy them in black). Also, even though I do not like buying shoes online as you can never tell if they will fit, I had no choice if I wanted these, as the nearest Miss Selfridge store from my house is about an hour's drive, and anyway you do get free returns.
On arrival, the shoes looked just like on the website, pretty and well made, not flimsy like some other peep toe shoes I have bought recently. They looked like they would last me more than one summer! Upon trying them on, they felt comfortable enough, not too big and not too small and my toes did not feel squashed in at the end. They did however feel a bit stiff and I wondered what they would be like to walk in for a few hours. So next day I put them on and off I went about my daily business! After about 2 hours of wear, I had 4 big sore blisters. Two on the back of my ankles and two on top where the buckles had ended up irritating me. Bearing in mind that I had worn these, I was now stuck with a pair of shoes that I could not return for a refund. The chances of them giving in are non existent, as these are not leather, so are not likely to soften with time! Even if I thought they would get more comfortable with wearing, I am not willing to risk acquiring any more blisters, and so these shoes have ended up in the cupboard, waiting for the next trip to the charity shop!
What I would recommend is that you try these on in the shop and walk around in them before buying!
I bought these tan peep shoes last week when shopping on the Miss Selfridge website. I didn't actually own any tan coloured shoes and so I was after a pair this colour. These are also available in black too.
I am usually a size 5 and whilst I sometimes struggle to fit into size 5 shoes from some places, I decided to purchase size 5 on this occasion as Miss Selfridge offer free returns, so I could easily exchange them for the next size up if need be. However, I did not need to as size 5 fit me perfectly.
I wasn't sure if the cross over detail and buckles on the ends of the shoes would hurt my toes or not, but I can safely say after wearing these almost everyday for a week, that they don't. The only discomfort that has occurred is the backs of the shoes rubbing against my heels and hurting them slightly. This only lasted for around 2 days though as I quickly wore into them, and they now no longer hurt my feet. I think the 2 days of slight pain was worth it because these shoes look so pretty on!
I think these can be worn with work clothes and look smart, as well as with casual clothes, which make your outfit look that bit more summery. I also like that they are peep toes and so you can see my painted toe nails. The actual material of the shoes is not flimsy and so I think these shoes will last for ages, and they can also just be wiped clean. These cost £25, which I usually wouldn't pay for a pair of flat shoes, but I don't mind with these as the material is strong. I am even considering buying them again but in black!
These shoes are available from Miss Selfridge and are available in sizes 3 up to 8. All sizes are still currently in stock on the Miss Selfridge website too.
