“ Brand: Evans / Type: Peep Toe „
Recently, due to Slimming World, I've lost (so far) 2 stone, dropping 2 dress sizes. I decided to reward myself by buying a lovely 50's style dress, one of those strapless ones that uses your natural curves to stay up, before flaring into a full skirt at the bottom.
When the dress arrived, it fit wonderfully. Knowing that I was going out for a meal with my parents, I decided to surprise them by wearing the dress (I really am a jeans and T-shirt girl) only to find that bizarrely, my feet seem to have shrunk just as much as everything else, and my one pair of vaguely feminine shoes were just too big!
Off I went to town to try and find some shoes that would match the dress, and, after much trying on of shoes in various shops, ended up with these sweet little peep-toe slingbacks from Evans.
These shoes were perfect . Not only did the bright cherry red colour perfectly match my dress, but the sweet little bow on the toes seemed a nice retro touch, perfectly matching the 50's feel I was going for with the outfit. The heel, at 7.5 cm wasn't too impossible to walk in , and the slingback strap to fasten the shoe was made from quite supple and stretchy material, allowing me to fasten the shoes up snugly without worrying that they were going to cripple my feet entirely when I did wear them.
The shoes come in an EEE width fitting, which is quite wide, probably too wide for many people. However, as I have quite wide feet, especially around the toes, this was ideal for me. Despite having wide feet at one end, they are surprisingly narrow at the heel, but the slingback buckle enabled me to fit these comfortably, and rather pleasingly had four holes for buckling, offering plenty of flexibility in sizing.
I also liked that the sole was slightly padded - when I wore these out (I've worn them on two nights out now, as well as to the meal with my parents) the only moment of discomfort was when I managed to step into a puddle.
I think these shoes are stunning - I love the bright vibrant red colour (though these are also available in black) and I think the cute little bow and the sexy little peep toe not only made my feet look sexy (pretty hard to do when you're a size 8) but added to the playful 50's vibe of my whole outfit.
In addition to that, they were incredibly comfortable to wear and at £32 (available in Evans stores, or online ), not incredibly expensive either. The only downside to these shoes is perhaps the fact that they probably would be a little too open to wear in winter - but the style is so classic that Iimagine they'll be just as stunning to wear next summer as they are now.
