Shoes with cuffs to make them look a bit like boots. Weird? Well, yes a bit!

I bought these a couple of weeks ago, basically because they were just the colour I was after for a last minute night out. I do own other camel shoes but the heels are all too high, at seven months pregnant I'm struggling now but still wanted something smart to go out in.

The colour of these was perfect for the look I had in mind, I don't particularly like the fashion for cuffed shoes but was planning on wearing these under trousers anyway so the strange cuff wouldn't been seen.

The design of them is nice, I'd have actually preferred them without the cuff detail as the toe line is sleek and attractive and as a pair of plain shoes these would have been great. The heel is roughly 2 1/2 ins, this is perfect for me at the moment (being pregnant) but I'd find it a little too low usually. I like the tapered finish to the heel, it is quite pointy but fattens out as the heel reaches the sole of the shoe itself. This gives an attractive finish to the heel, and also makes them very comfortable to walk in.

The sole is thicker than most Florence & Fred shoes, it's not as well cushioned as it could be in my opinion and after an hour of standing I had to grab a seat as my feet were killing me. These are the sort of shoes which are infinitely more comfortable to walk in than actually stand still in, which is fine by me as I'm not the type of person to stand around like a wall flower for hours on end.

The shoe is a nice fit, I bought a size 5 which were predictably a bit too big. I'm a 4 but this size wasn't available, the 5 isn't huge however so this makes me think the sizing might be a little off. The fact that the cuff wraps around the top of my foot and up towards my ankle helps the shoe sit nicely on my foot, although I'd actually like to be able to tighten the cuff a bit more for a more snug fit.

The buckle is extremely stiff to open and close, I had to ask Mark to do mine up the other night as I couldn't bend down far enough (remember the bump!) to get a good grip on the buckle. That surprised me actually as the buckles are quite big and it's usually the smaller buckles which are tight and stiff.

      £15.00 from Tesco stores.
