F&F Floral V-Strap Flip Flops
Advantages: Looks, price, comfort
Disadvantages: Not for pool use
I can't believe I am writing a review on my favourite flip flops when it is pouring it down outside and I am sitting on the sofa off work with the flu, but why not, sitting here looking at them in the porch, they remind me of my summer holidays!
**Price and Availability**
The F&F (Florence and Fred, the 'George' of Tesco), Floral V Strap Flip Flops are available in larger Tesco stores and online at Tesco Direct (a postage and packing fee applies though you can order them to collect from any store including Metro stores). The price is an excellent £4, why pay more for flip flops if you're only going to use them for a week abroad or the few sunny days we have in the UK!!
Rather than individual sizes the flip flops are sold in 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8. I have big feet so went for the 7-8, they are all the same price which is good, no surcharge for larger sizes.
The The F&F Floral V Strap Flip Flops are the type of flip flops that have a sort of straw base (the same sort you see in beach mats). They are edged with, and the toe post is made of, a lovely floral ditsy print cotton. The underside of the flip flop is a black foam rubber. For the money and the type of flip flop they are, they're well made.
Given the feminine edge given to these flip flops they're great for wearing with jeans, a little dress or shorts on holiday. You can wear them with leggings or even with swimwear, they're very versatile. Overall I'd say they look very modern, on trend and ideal for your summer wardrobe.
These flip flops are the ideal in lazy footwear as you just slip them on and go. As the toe post is a soft and forgiving cotton, they're so comfortable, more comfortable than flip flops with harder plastic toe posts. If you suffer from toe post discomfort or rubbing / blisters from all-plastic flip flops I would highly recommend a flip flop like F&F Floral V Strap Flip Flops as they're very gentle on the foot. The soft base flexes with the foot making for a very comfortable walking experience, with no stiff arches. I wouldn't go for a long long walk in them; I'd probably opt for a ballerina pump or fit flop for some shock absorbency but they're great for general holiday wear and tourist type activity, especially when it's too hot for a full shoe.
One word of note though, as they're straw you cannot get them wet. I had two pairs of these, one in the floral print and one edged and toe post in silver. I wore that around the swimming pool, and the toe post ended up ripping out as the base got so soft it couldn't hold the toe post down. So whilst they're great holiday shoes they're not suitable as a pool shoe, try an all plastic shoe such as a croc, an all plastic / rubber flip flop or a jelly shoe for pool and sea use.
They look great, they have a multitude of uses, they're very comfortable and the fit is good, too. And all this for only £4! I don't like spending an absolute fortune on casual holiday shoes as I know I won't get that much wear from them and I tend to buy a new pair of flip flops each year. The good thing about the The F&F Floral V Strap Flip Flops is that they've stayed in as new condition despite a fair bit of use and I'm now going to put them in my holiday wear suitcase for my next foreign holiday early next year. Alternatively you could wear them out as flip flops to wear around the house. I highly recommend the The F&F Floral V Strap Flip Flops, they're one of the nicest looking and best basic flip flops I have ever bought.
