Jelly shoes always take me back to being a child and I love them still!
I bought these in the sale in Tesco for £2 and as they only had the red ones left in my size, it was the red ones I bought. The other colours available were black and white.
They are quite trendy with a toe post and come up the foot, they then have a strap which fastens around the ankle. The strap has little grooves for you to adjust the strap to the size you want it.
The biggest downfall with jelly shoes is that they can make your feet sweat and sweaty feet + jelly shoes = slippery, sliding, fall down disasters!
I haven't yet slipped through my shoe but my friend who has the same shoes in black wore them to the pub a few weeks back and to get to the smoking area, you have to go down a quite steep ramp and she did indeed slip down and really hurt inbetween her toes :(! For the rest of the night she had to walk down the ramp sideways!
The bonus with jelly shoes is that they are ideal for holidays by the beach as you don't have to remove your shoes to go into the sea, you can also wear them in the paddling pool etc as getting them wet will not affect them.
I found them really comfortable to wear and they are versatile enough to wear with pretty much anything, they look good with leggings, shorts, jeans, skirts etc...
The normal price of £4 is fantastic so to get them for half that was even better. I will be on the look out for these again next summer!
As a child and teen I loved flip flops for being so easy to throw on in a hurry, lightweight and easy to pack in a bag. As an adult with fibromyalgia that makes me a little unsteady on my feet, I avoid anything backless like the plague. The problem then comes when I want something simple and lightweight to wear when sitting in the garden enjoying the sunshine, or playing with my baby niece in the paddling pool.
I bought these for this purpose not expecting them to be completely brilliant bearing in mind that they were just £4, but also hoping that they'd be comfortable enough and lasting enough for the summer.
The largest size they do in these is a size 7 which is my size, and they're a reasonably comfortable fit. They only appear to come in the one colour (white) which is a shame as I'd have preferred them to be something other than white - white always gets to looking dirty so fast I find. The important factors at the time of my purchase were: a) these were cheap. b) they were waterproof. c) they were available in my size and fitted me.
These are made from a soft plastic material - a bit like the 'jelly' shoes of the 80's and early 90's. they're like a flip flop at the front - with a bit that goes between your big toe and the rest of your toes, and they have a narrow strap that buckles up, which runs round behind your heel to stop them slipping off.
Comfort wise, I've certainly worn more comfortable and they're not the sort of thing I'd want to walk a long distance in. Having said that, they're flat and lightweight and they don't rub anywhere so they're quite good for what I want them for i.e. the garden and playing paddling in the pool with my niece. I actually quite like them in many ways although if I wear them for too long I do find that my foot starts to feel a little sweaty.
Overall I'd say these are a good buy. They don't seem to be showing many signs of wear after a month of having them, so I will expect them to last this summer at least and hopefully be useful next too, so for £4 that's pretty good in my book.
Doing a lot of walking of late on the beach I have been on the search for soft but still waterproof and hardwearing sandles that are versatile.
These plain white plastic jelly sandles (they are only available in white by the way either from Tesco stores or from Tescodirect.com) fitted my idea of what I needed very well both in style and at the mini price of £4.00 a pair.
In sizes 3-7 they are made from lightweight and soft plastic and so are really smooth. The slim flat sole is also white plastic with a few grooves on there for a little grip, the thin plastic adjustable strap is also plastic with 6 holes to pick from to fasten them up with a plastic buckle over that and then the toe post goes down the front of the foot and of course is slim, integrated and goes neatly between the toes and is soft enough.
Although these are not cushioned they are rather comfortable due to the fact they are lightweight and with no heel on them at all so that they are really easy to walk in.
These are of course waterproof, perfect for walking on beaches and the likes on and I haven't found them to scuff or go shabby over time (no matter how often I wear them either!).
These are smooth looking and great quality and although I am sure that they will fall apart eventually I am pleased with the fit and the look of them!
A decent buy, worth the money for sure its just a shame that they are not available to purchase in other colours or I'd nab a few pairs of them as well!
