“ Brand: F&F / Type: Ankle Boots „
Florence and Fred style a wide range of fashionable clothes for Tesco, which are then sold at reasonable prices.
== The Style ==
I first bought a pair of F&F T-Bar Studded Pumps from their footwear range.
As these are so comfortable, when I saw a similar F&F style in a boot, I bought that as well.
These F&F Studded Ankle Boots have the same comfort and stylish benefit of the shoe, with the added advantage that they are warmer.
Although they look similar to the shoes, these boots have fabric uppers and linings, with stiffening just at the toe and heel, between the layers, to help them keep their shape. (The shoes have flexible faux leather uppers, which although soft, are not quite as soft as the fabric boot upper.)
The decorative studs are on the toe and back of the top of the boot.
The manmade soles are ¼ thick, with the heels rising to ½ an inch, so thicker than the shoe.
I think of them as slippers that can also be worn outdoors.
They come is black and grey. I bought a black pair thinking it the more practical winter colour. It wouldn't take much to convince me that I needed the lighter silver grey pair for spring though!
== Suitable Uses ==
I have what my mum would have called "sensible" boots for harsh weather conditions, but I consider these fashion boots a good buy for comfort and style for town wear in chilly but dry weather conditions.
Sprayed with a water repellent, I have found that they can cope with light showers, but I will not deliberately subject them to worse conditions, when I consider purpose made footwear would be more appropriate.
== Price ==
They are currently available at larger Tesco stores and at clothingattesco.com for £15, but watch out for special promotions that Tesco have, such as 20% off all clothing. Discounted periods is my recommended time for bargain buys, as by the time the end of season sale takes place, your size and preferred colour may no longer be available.
== Alternatives (or as well as?) ==
I have just found 53 boots in the ladies section of the clothingattesco website, ranging in price from £45 for leather and suede boots at the top of their range, down to £10 for leopard print wellies (with chunky, deep tread, soles), and £7 for faux suede ankle boots, so I think they cater for most occasions.
There is also a high-heeled version of the flat studded ankle boot that I have, but I didn't consider that safe for me! The high-heeled version originally cost £18, but it is on special offer at the moment at £14.40.
A similar flat boot to mine, without studs, costs a mere £10. They are new stock in, and weren't available when I bought my black studded pair. These come in black and grey. However, I know that the grey in this similar style is a drab grey, as I have seen it in store, whereas the studded ankle boot grey is a prettier silver grey, so I won't be tempted to the grey in the unstudded version.
