“ Brand: Fat Face / Type: Flip Flops „
For many years now, probably more than a decade, I have only purchased clothes and shoes from two shops. Except for the occasional item I may buy when looking around other outlets, White Stuff and Fat Face sell the kind of clothes I love to wear- casual but pretty, and extremely hard wearing and long lasting. When it comes to shoes I also rate these retailers highly, and the Fat Face Amalie Embroidered Flop I am about to review is certainly a very good purchase. One piece of advice before buying from Fat Face- wait for an offer if you can. They have 20% off days, and if you shop on line there are always voucher codes available and cash-back from the main sites such as Topcashback and Quidco. This should bring the prices down a bit, and then you are really getting something high quality for a good value price. Their 20% days happen at least once during each season so are well worth looking out for. The Amalie Flip Flop is a style which I absolutely love, and have purchased different variants from Fat face over the years. These shoes are a sturdy affair - flip flop in design, but much more robust, and certainly a shoe you could potter about in all summer without any problems at all. I love these shoes, and I purchased a pair a few weeks ago. I have to say that I already had a similar pair which were several years old and were still going strong, but I really liked the colours these shoes were available in this year. With this in mind I decided to treat myself to a new pair as I have a holiday coming up soon. Available in two shades- tan with khaki and cream flowers, and brown with brick and pale blue flowers, I chose the former as these are so pretty and look really nice with khaki crops. They are quite a subtle combination of colours which is ideal if you are going on holiday, as they go with so many outfits. As shoes make up a lot of weight in luggage, travelling light is so appealing to me, so these were a good purchase in that respect. Dooyoo have provided a photo of the shoes in the colour I picked. The shoes themselves have a leather upper and sole which is padded. This makes them so comfortable to wear all day long. The embroidery is just so lovely with khaki and cream flowers, and the shoes are true to size. I went for the 39, my usual size, and they fitted perfectly. The area around the toe is soft and doesn't rub at all making these my favourite summer shoes in my wardrobe. At £25 these are not cheap as they are simply a dressed up flip flop, but they should last for years and are just so comfortable to wear. If you can get a deal on them they represent excellent value for money. I have found no problem wearing these from dawn till dusk, and I can honestly say they fit like a glove and are a dream to wear even on long shopping trips. One thing I really love about most Fat Face stores is that you can browse the stock for ages, trying on garments and footwear, free from interference by well meaning staff. Shoes in particular are important to get right, and I did try these on in the store before making a purchase online. That way I got the benefit of the price, coupled with the convenience of trying on first. Of course you can send off online anyway in the first instance, but there is the hassle of returning items at the Post Office if they prove to be unsuitable. Family members and friends are always amazed when they ask me where I got my shoes and I say Fat Face, and then continue to tell them it was more than five years ago, as I have their shoes in my wardrobe which have lasted this long in fantastic condition. I am sure the Amalie flop will join my others as already I have had a month's wear from these and they look just like new. In conclusion I would say these are well worth looking at for summer shoes which should last for many years and will provide comfort and value for money.
