Advantages: None

Disadvantages: Agony to wear

If you are thinking of buying fitflops, don't make the mistake I made by buying them online without first trying them out in a shop after a proper fitting. While they seem to be immensely comfortable to some, they are agony to others - including me.
I bought the shoes because of the claims for reduced muscle strain, as I normally walk about 5 miles a day, and wanted something more suitable for summer than standard trainers.
The first (only) time I wore my new fitflops was for a 30 minute stroll. I found it difficult to walk at by normal pace, and my stride was shorter than usual. My friend asked me why I was walking so oddly. By the time I got home, one toe was bleeding where it had rubbed against the toe-post, and I was also bleeding on the top of one foot. A month later, the scabs are still there. Of course, I have not worn the shoes again.

Summary: You'll either love them or hate them
