Advantages: comfy, give your legs a workout
Disadvantages: look a bit weird
I decided to give fitflops a try as I was looking for something to build the muscles in my legs and thought they'd be easy to incorporate into my daily routine as I walk the dog for about an hour every day.
Price and availability
There are a few online shops that stock them but I found both the range and prices varied enormously so it's best to really look around. I eventually bought mine from achillesheel.co.uk because they had the colour I wanted and they were about £20 cheaper than some other stockists. Including delivery they cost me £62.50. After having them for 3 weeks I think they will be worth the investment because the materials used are good quality and so should last for some time.
Style
The style I chose was Billow (so called because they feel like walking on clouds apparently!) in a chocolate colour. They aren't really flip flops but look more like cloggs with a big wedge sole. I have worn them with both jeans and skirts and they look fine with both. Some people may think they look a bit weird but I don't really mind, you could argue thay are very unique! I thought I would get more use out of a warmer style and they certainly are cosy! They are also very easy to get on and off and as a result they have replaced my slippers as I walk around in them all day when I'm at home with the added bonus that you can wear them outside as well (handy when hanging out washing)
Comfort
I am always a size 5 and these fitflops are a great fit so I'd say they conform very well to standard sizing. The thickness of the bottom sole means they are low impact when walking and so they are extremely comfortable to wear for long periods.
Effectiveness
Although I can't see any change in the muscles on my legs yet I can definitely feel the fitflops working. After walking my calves feel like they have had more of a workout than usual and the backs of my thighs and bum muscles also feel activated. I am relatively unfit though so for anyone of good fitness I can't see them having much of an effect. I would describe the effect they have as making you feel as though you've walked for twice as long as you actually have.
Overall
If we were to believe all of the claims on the website Fitflops would be a revolutionary fitness product. They're not quite as good as they would like you to believe but I d think they are pretty effective. The results will also vary for each individual and how often they wear them.
Summary: a worthwhile purchase
