      Great sandals

Some of you will know that I was lucky enough to go on holiday a few weeks ago, and I needed some new shoes to take with me. After stocking up on flip flops, I still needed a pair of shoes for walking long distances - some sandals I could rely on.

My first choice for comfy sandals is always Fly Flots, because they consistently make the most comfortable shoes I've ever come across. Wearing Crocs is like walking barefoot across glass in comparison. Whilst many of their ranges are catered towards the 40+, they do a pretty extensive range of styles and I can usually find something I like.

The Fly Flots Alpha sandals come in black, taupe and purple, and can currently be bought from Amazon for £21.99. I have the purple version as seen in the picture above. You can also buy them elsewhere on the internet - e.g. from shop.com - and they also sell them on the shopping channels sometimes.

These sandals have soft purple straps and can be adjusted via the buckles (also purple). They leave plenty of space for your feet to breathe via the holes on top, and I was pleased to notice that I didn't acquire an oddly-shaped tan on my feet after wearing them for a week!

The soles are the best thing about Fly Flots though; they are advertised as being like 'walking on air', and that's pretty much true. The soles mould to the shape of your feet, and for people like me who normally find most shoes a nightmare (high instep, wider-than-average sensitive feet), they're a lifesaver. When you put them on for the first time, your feet just sink into them. Even after wearing them all day the soles of my feet aren't irritated at all.

Whilst the sandals look like they have a heel, it's not very high off the ground and they are really easy to walk in even if you never wear heels. They also stayed comfortably on my feet - sitting, standing and walking - without any signs of slipping off or my feet sliding to one side.

As these sandals have adjustable straps, they are ideal for those with narrower or wider feet than average as you can adjust the width accordingly. This is also great if you're prone to foot swell in hot weather. If they are anything like my other pairs, than they can be machine washed without much hassle and should last at least 3 or so years with moderate use.

I know that these sandals won't be to everyone's tastes, but for me they're the ideal solution for walking around in hot weather. They can cope with different surfaces well, although I haven't yet had the opportunity to test them in other conditions!

The only disadvantage is that after a few consecutive days of wear, my little toe and big toe will start to get a bit red on the side, but considering all the problems I normally suffer with this is next to nothing and probably won't affect most people.

If you haven't tried any Fly Flots before, I'd completely recommend them because there are few things better than a pair of really comfortable shoes you can rely on.
