George Basic Flip Flops
Advantages: Price, looks, comfort
I was running around George at Asda a few months ago, picking up last minute pieces for a holiday to Lanzarote with my family. I picked up a lovely green dress, but I didn't have any shoes to go with it, and I didn't want to spend a fortune. Next to the dresses however was a display of flip flops starting at £2, and so I picked up a pair of green ones - thinking 'oh they'll do for the week I'm away'.
So off we went to Lanzarote and I had the chance to try out the shoes. The great thing about them is that as they're made of a foam base and a plastic toe post, they're ideal pool shoes as they're totally waterproof. I got my straw flip-flops wet and they fell apart and they cost more than £2!
They're comfortable, they are soft, and they move with your foot when you walk, meaning they're perfectly comfortable to wear not only for strolls on the beach but also in hot weather when your feet are a bit more swollen. At £2 you can buy a few pairs to go with your outfits! Some people experience the toe post discomfort you can get with flip flops and I have a few times in the past but it wasn't a problem for me with these shoes so I can only recommend them from that front.
Since we've returned home to the UK I've used the shoes a few times in warm weather since; they're still as good as new apart from a stone in the foam which I've trodden on, but hey, that happens.
I think these shoes are great for pool shoes, to use after a pedicure, to use when going swimming, on holiday, for travel, and just in nice weather. They come in a range of pretty, bright colours and they're ridiculously cheap, but surprisingly well made. I mean, a pair of shoes for two quid, you really can't complain, it's cheaper than Primark and you don't have to deal with the crowds of bargain hunters, you can pick them up with your food shopping!
Now we're moving into the winter, maybe flip-flops aren't top of your to buy list, but for holidays they are ideal. Why pay out £20+ for a pair when these are nice looking and well made?
A very well deserved five out of five stars from me - some cheap shoes aren't worth the money - these are!
Summary: A holiday must have!
