      a good basic slipper

Asda may be known for being a major food provider but many stores have a clothing department known as George. George offer clothing, footwear and accessories for men, women, kids and babies at affordable prices and in a range of sizes. ===Slippers=== Whilst the shoe departments in George offer various heels and trainers, there is also an array of slipper products for wearing around the home. Depending on your style, you can opt for fluffy boots, checked slippers or plain mules. This review discusses the George Mule Slippers in the Mens range. These mules are black with a grey inner lining. They are available in sizes 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. The mules are made of textile materials throughout with the exception of the outer sole which is referred to as being other materials. ===Design=== The mules are basically slippers which cover the sole of the foot and around the front. The heel remains open and offers no support like certain other slippers. The sole is very flexible and offers lots of triangular shaped grips. The main part of the mule is a fluffy black part which reaches around the side of the foot and the front. Inside, a thin grey lining runs all the way through the mule. ===Availability and Price=== These mules can be purchased in George departments or online through www.asda.co.uk. They are priced at only £4.00 a pair regardless of size. ===My Opinion=== I actually bought these slippers for my fiance towards the end of last year as part of his Xmas. Well, his Mum bought him a better pair and these were tossed to the side so I decided I was having them. There isn't much difference between mens slippers and ladies so I had no reserves about wearing these. I had bought them in a 7-8 and although I am an 8 and a half in shoe size, these are certainly bigger made than many slippers and accommodate my feet with ease. We have laminate flooring throughout most of our home with the exception of the livingroom and Ryans room so the floors do get really cold especially at night and in the morning so I like to have cosy feet. The design of these slippers is very basic and they do feel flimsy but considering I have worn them everyday for 6months nearly, is a testement that they are durable. Black is a neutral colour and they go with all of my PJs! They aren't overly thick and the lining is quite sparse. ===Slippy Dippy=== Putting these slippers on is very easy. They are quite wide to accommodate even chunky feet like mine. They cover quite a bit of my foot leaving only a small amount showing at the top and of course my heel. Despite being smaller than my average shoe size, there is still a small gap at the back so I would recommend these slippers in a size smaller anyway. The slippers feel nice and snug around my feet and I can comfortably wear some socks with them on cold nights. They keep my feet nice and cosy. Walking around the house is fairly easy with these slippers on. On carpet, they are fine and I can walk easily without slipping out of the slipper. On laminate flooring, the grips don't offer much in the way of support and I find I need to be very careful as I slip around whilst wearing these. Personally the grips appear there for design only! They do provide apple support from wet flooring when I step out the bath. The slippers are comfortable enough to wear for several hours. I have went out and put the washing out or rubbish our wearing these and find the soles aren't thick enough to not be able to feel stones underneath. These mules gather dust very easily. As I wear them with wet feet from the shower, they also start to get damp and generally foot smells transfer onto them. I have washed these once a week for a few months and they have kept their shape and the lining has stayed put. They have lost their colour a little around the black part but the sole hasn't disintergrated in any way. They come up fresh and clean and in between wears, I spray a little Febreze onto them to keep them smelling clean. ===Conclusion and Recommendation=== Although these are aimed at men, there is no reason why women cannot wear them. Coming in the bigger sizes allows them to be more appealing to women who have bigger feet and if you don't mind not have pink polka dots or fluffy toggles on them then these are for you. For 4quid they are a bargain and come highly recommended from me. Thanks for reading :D
