My daughter has always been an avid peppa pig fan so when I saw these peppa pig boots in Asda earlier on in the year I just had to buy them for her. I found them in the sale section for £6 which for any branded item of clothing is a remarkable price. As it was coming towards summer I decided to be practical and buy a size bigger than my daughter actually was because these clobbery looking shoes definitely wouldn't be practical for the summer months.
As it so happens however it turns out this summer wasn't very bright and my daughter's feet grew faster than I imagined they would. I had intended for my daughter to be wearing these shoes around the autumn time but she has actually been wearing them for several months now and is fast on her way to out growing them.
On the outset the shoes look lovely, with a denim look to the exterior with peppa pig decorated on each boot in very girly purples and pinks. The laces are designed out of what looks like ribbon giving the shoes even more of a pretty look. The boots are similar in shape and size to converse shoes, which means that they are designed to come over the ankle. Because of this design aspect I always find that these shoes look and work better with either leggings or skinny jeans although they can and do work with other trousers as well.
The shoes come in sizes 5-12 which averagely means that they should fit toddlers/children between the ages of 2 and 5. Quality wise my daughter has had quite a lot of use out of these shoes and they have lasted quite well considering that they have been used for daily wear and on occasion they have been worn to nursery.
I can't fault the design or quality of the shoes and my daughter has never had any problem with comfort, the only problem that I have found with these shoes is actually getting them on the foot! It's a combination of things that really give me a problem to actually get the shoes on my daughters feet, Firstly I think that the neck of the shoe is too narrow making it virtually impossible to slip on and secondly because the shoe laces are made out of oversized ribbon it makes it difficult to loosen to be able to widen the neck area of the shoe. With a lot of effort I can eventually get the shoes on but it takes a good ten minutes or so. My daughter could never do it alone really quashing independent dressing which she really likes to do at the minute.
Because of the nature in which my daughter wears these boots - outdoor play and nursery - I have had to wash them several times, this has took its toll on the shoes but they do look relatively new when they come out of the washing machine and do proceed to dry in the original shape of the shoe.
Overall I think that these shoes are ok. The design is nice and the quality is reasonable for a George item but I really think that the fit lets them down. If I was more able to actually get the shoe on my daughter's foot I would probably be giving them a higher recommendation. I would think they are worth buying for a big peppa pig fan just for the novelty, but in reality there are a lot better shoes available on the market that have a better fit.
My daughter was a big fan of Peppa Pig prior to discovering the Playhouse Disney Channel and though I really cannot stand anything Peppa she did have one or two things from the range which we seemed to find the quality wasn't all that great. My Grandma recently called down and said she had a surprise for my daughter, and in the bag was a pair of Peppa Pig boots! I thought it was a lovely thing to do however my daughter really didn't need any new shoes!
The boots are in the style of Converse boots so they are a modern style, and we already have a pair of those and they look great with most outfits! Though the boots are navy blue and are a denim effect, they are still made to look quite girly as they have a pink trim around the boot and a soft pink colour laces. On the side of the boot we have an embroidered picture of Peppa Pig and her name which is in soft pastel colours to co-ordinate with the boot. Peppa is not shown in her normal outfit which I think is because it would have looked too bright against the boot so the pastel colours make the boot look really trendy. The soles of the boots are a thick white rubber with a pale pink stripe through the centre and it is quite bendy, I say this as some of the boots I have looked at can be quite stiff and it makes me wonder how they expect a child to walk in them!
The sizing of the boots I would say is not that fantastic, my little girl is a size 7 yet they were extremely hard to get on her feet and she said they were hurting at the back of her foot once we had finally got them on so I had to take them back and get her a larger size. Even with the larger size they don't seem as though they are that comfortable on my little girls feet, she doesn't moan too much about them but she is very happy when they are taken off! That said, the lining of the boots is nice and soft so I would say they would be suitable to wear without socks if required but this isn't something that we have tried.
Though my daughter hasn't worn these boots an awful lot we have had to wash them once already as she got very muddy, and they did come out of the wash ok, however you can see around the rubber sole that it is slightly starting to come away so I wouldn't recommend washing them on a regular basis.
The price of the Peppa Pig boots is £6.00 which is a decent price to pay but the quality of them isn't fantastic so I personally wouldn't have been happy if they had cost any more than that. I think where my daughter doesn't find them very comfortable is due to the fact that she is used to her Converse boots which are obviously a better quality, so had we not had those she may have been happier with these.
All in all I would say these are an ok boot, but it is definately not something I would have chosen for my daughter and I wouldn't buy them again as I don't think the quality is brilliant - but then again for £6 they are as you would expect.
Thank you for reading my review :)
Peppa Pig Boots - George at Asda
My little one absolutely loves Peppa Pig (A lovable little pig and her family who can be seen on Nick Jr and Milkshake channels) and so, when it was time to buy some new shoes, we found these adorable little boots in Asda for only £6.
The boots are in a Converse style in a dark denim blue colour with a pink trim and ribbons for the laces. Although the colour makes the boots look as though they are denim, they have a much softer feel to them than that of denim. On the side is a lovely image of Peppa Pig herself in raised embroidery. This image is in soft colours and set alongside the rest of the boot, it looks really cute, and also trendy at the same time! The sole of the boots is soft yet durable with a soft inside to the boot.
We found that the sizing on these boots are rather like a lot of George children's shoes we have bought, and comes up a little small so do try them on your child as we found we needed to get a bigger size than our little ones feet measured.
We bought these boots a couple of months before Christmas if memory serves me, and a few months later they are still looking as good as new. The usual scuff marks are starting to appear on the sole though this is a general thing that happens with shoes and not a fault in the shoe. The Peppa Pig picture is still looking brand new and the sole is in tact completely.
Overall, for a little price of £6, I think that these boots are an absolute bargain, especially considering Peppa Pig items usually go for a lot of money! So if you have a little Peppa Pig fan, head over to Asda now - you and they will not be disappointed!
Although she's grown out of her pair now, when she was younger, my little girl loved this pair of Peppa Pig trainers from George at Asda. I paid £7 for these boots in a sale well over a year ago, as she's a big Peppa Pig fan and like the trainers a lot, plus I thought they were cute and a decent price. Kids grow out of shoes so quickly after all that I usually don't buy them expensive shoes as it can be a waste of money.
These trainers are shaped like high-top skate shoes, similar to many Converse pairs of trainers, and as such are a very cute and trendy pair of trainers even before you take into account the Peppa Pig design. These are made of a dark blue denim-look material, trimmed with pink edges and shoelaces, a white rubbery sole plus a design of Peppa on the side, holding a flower. The Peppa design is nice but is not too over the top which I like, and these actually look quite dainty whilst on! The shoes are soft to the touch and feel like they would be very comfortable on the feet.
Although these no longer fit my daughter, when we first bought them, I found that the range of small sizes they offered was good and a size 9 kids size fit her well with enough room in the toes for them to not be too tight and have a tiny bit of growing room.
The bottom of these trainers is white, but is easy to clean if they get dirty. These shoes survived serveral washing machine cycles without getting damaged, so they are pretty hardwearing I think. My daughter probably had these for around 8 months before they became too tight for her after a growth spurt, but by the end of that time they still looked almost as good as new. My daughter used to wear these with tights for a bit more comfort, although these are fairly comfy, I think the seams on the inside might rub a bit if worn with bare feet, so she'd wear socks or tights with them as an extra comfort and to keep her legs warmer.
When they fit her, she wore them for all kinds of occasions, as although they are trainer-style boots, they are quite smart looking and adaptable to different outfits. These were a good buy for my daughter when she had smaller feet and lasted her a decent amount of time considering she's a growing girl!
My three year old has never been the most die-hard Peppa Pig fan, but when I saw these Peppa Pig boots in the Asda sale for just £6 I had to buy them for her. The style of them is gorgeous so Peppa Pig lover or not, your toddler is guaranteed to look extremely cute in them!
They are a Converse style boot and have been designed to look trendy but feminine at the same time. Although these are a dark blue in colour, the pink trim and ribbon laces make them a definite girls' shoe to suit a wide range of ages. Hollie is currently midway between sizes 8 and 9 so she ended up with the bigger size as the 8 seemed a bit tight across her toes. This would make me say that the sizing is quite iffy with these boots, I'd usually buy her an 8 in this style and be sure they would fit with a little growing room.
The boots have a denim appearance and are bang on trend in this respect, they are not made of denim though and have a more comfortable softer texture. The raised embroidery and colourful motifs add another layer of femininity to them, but although the Peppa feature is quite big it is done in lovely pastel colours so as not to overwhelm the entire style of the shoe. Well, in my opinion most Peppa Pig shoes and clothing are made to advertise the Peppa Pig brand too garishly but these boots are definitely not over the top in their design.
The white rubber sole and toe still look nice and clean, they are attached securely to the fabric of the boot and up to now (two months of wear) none of the rubber trim has started peeling away from any part of them. Hollie isn't particularly heavy on her shoes, but these are standing the test of time well so far and still look brand new. I took a chance on machine washing them last week after a messy trip to the farm, a very low temperature and hardly any spin at all. They came out fine this time but I'm not sure I'd risk putting them in the Hotpoint too often.
The boots have a soft and comfortable inner, the bottom of the foot is cushioned well thanks to a thick spongy sole which means Hollie never complains about them pinching or rubbing. When they were brand new (and I mean the very first time Hollie tried them on) the back of the left boot rubbed her leg a bit but since then the fit has been fine. She wears socks or tights with them as the inner seams are quite rigid in places and I do worry that this aspect of the boots is what probably would cause rubbing if worn directly against the skin in the warmer weather.
The style of these Peppa Pig boots means they go just as nicely with a casual outfit as with something a bit more dressy. Actually, Hollie wore them to a party over Christmas with a flouncy Disney Princess dress and they looked fantastic. They also look good with tracksuit bottoms, although the grips aren't very good on the bottom of the boots so I wouldn't recommend them for particularly sporty occasions!
