Advantages: Cheap, lovely design and colours

Disadvantages: They just don't go on the feet!

My daughter has always been an avid peppa pig fan so when I saw these peppa pig boots in Asda earlier on in the year I just had to buy them for her. I found them in the sale section for £6 which for any branded item of clothing is a remarkable price. As it was coming towards summer I decided to be practical and buy a size bigger than my daughter actually was because these clobbery looking shoes definitely wouldn't be practical for the summer months.

As it so happens however it turns out this summer wasn't very bright and my daughter's feet grew faster than I imagined they would. I had intended for my daughter to be wearing these shoes around the autumn time but she has actually been wearing them for several months now and is fast on her way to out growing them.

On the outset the shoes look lovely, with a denim look to the exterior with peppa pig decorated on each boot in very girly purples and pinks. The laces are designed out of what looks like ribbon giving the shoes even more of a pretty look. The boots are similar in shape and size to converse shoes, which means that they are designed to come over the ankle. Because of this design aspect I always find that these shoes look and work better with either leggings or skinny jeans although they can and do work with other trousers as well.

The shoes come in sizes 5-12 which averagely means that they should fit toddlers/children between the ages of 2 and 5. Quality wise my daughter has had quite a lot of use out of these shoes and they have lasted quite well considering that they have been used for daily wear and on occasion they have been worn to nursery.

I can't fault the design or quality of the shoes and my daughter has never had any problem with comfort, the only problem that I have found with these shoes is actually getting them on the foot! It's a combination of things that really give me a problem to actually get the shoes on my daughters feet, Firstly I think that the neck of the shoe is too narrow making it virtually impossible to slip on and secondly because the shoe laces are made out of oversized ribbon it makes it difficult to loosen to be able to widen the neck area of the shoe. With a lot of effort I can eventually get the shoes on but it takes a good ten minutes or so. My daughter could never do it alone really quashing independent dressing which she really likes to do at the minute.

Because of the nature in which my daughter wears these boots - outdoor play and nursery - I have had to wash them several times, this has took its toll on the shoes but they do look relatively new when they come out of the washing machine and do proceed to dry in the original shape of the shoe.

Overall I think that these shoes are ok. The design is nice and the quality is reasonable for a George item but I really think that the fit lets them down. If I was more able to actually get the shoe on my daughter's foot I would probably be giving them a higher recommendation. I would think they are worth buying for a big peppa pig fan just for the novelty, but in reality there are a lot better shoes available on the market that have a better fit.

Summary: Best to shop around before you settle for these
