I love flip flops and always have lots of pairs on the go. Previously I have always bought cheap and cheerful flip flops which have lasted me for a few months before they wore down at the back or the pattern started to rub off especially when they got wet. My daughter has always worn havaianas and has sworn by them, and has been telling me that I spend more money than she does by choosing cheaper ones which have a short life.
I did think that I just couldn't justify spending £20 on a pair of flip flops, that is until I bought some. I actually got them on line for £17 and I chose a light green colour which have a darker green stripe in the sole and darker green straps. As soon as I tried them on I could tell that they were going to be very comfortable and I wasn't wrong. I took them away on holiday a few weeks after I had bought them and they were in the sea every day and I wore them for quite long walks, and they didn't show any signs of wear at all.
They were so comfortable and the sole is very soft and spongy but is very strong and durable. They dry almost instantly and are not slippy even when wet. These are definitely my favourite pairs of flip flops and I wear them almost all the time, and I can't wait to buy another pair in a different colour.
Flip flops are a vital accessory when you go to the beach on holidays. Recently it has become a fashion to get really nice ones with cool designs and colours, that is why havaianas are so popular right now.
Mine are not like the ones on the photo, they have less flowers and things. They are purple, with gold, and have a couple of flowers, but they are not that visible. I loved the design and also the way they fit. But I think their best quality is the durability. When you go to the beach flip flops get so much use, and sometimes damage, if for instance you walk on rocks or you go into the sea with them and then you pull your leg out, making the strap to be forced by the water density.
If you are wearing average flip flops, the chances are that they will break with this extreme resistance. But with havaianas, the good part is that, even after putting them under so much use and years of wearing them on all kinds of surfaces, they still look like they are new. I genuinely am convinced that there is no material any other makes use, like the one used by this Brazilian brand.
However they are not perfect. I have trouble wearing in havaianas since their material is so strong, so at the beginning I have to wear plasters quite a lot. But maybe that is just my problem as my feet are very sensitive and get blisters easily. But other than that, after you get use to them, you will love them and they will last you ages.
Havaianas sandals are known as the world's best rubber flip flops. According to an website I read, "The first pair of Havaianas were born in 1962. It was inspired by the Zori, typical Japanese sandals made of fabric straps and rice straw soles. It is for this reason that the foot-bed of all Havaianas have a textured rice pattern, one of its many unmistakable features."
I bought my pair of Havaianas at Debenhams last year for my holiday to Barcelona. I needed a new pair of flip flops and had seen these in various stores and read about them being the cool flip flops that everyone was wearing and the only flip flop to be seen in so I knew I wanted a pair. I'm a bit of a dedicated follower of fashion and so yes, had to have them.
My pair cost in the £20 region which yes, is a bit expensive when you consider they are just a pair of flip flops and you can get similar looking pairs for £5 or less in the supermarkets but I wanted a nice looking pair of flip flops that I could wear out and about in the summer that were also comfortable too. Plus, I like the idea of flip flops as a sandal to walk around in because when you get to the beach you can just kick these off rather than having to undo straps on nicer sandals and when I am playing with the kids I can just kick these flip flops off too and not have to worry about my nicer sandals getting damaged.
There are so many different colours, colour combinations, patterns and designs you can get in a pair of Havaianas. They do just simple black and white ones but I like a lot of the different striking colours you can get. THe pair I purchased have gold straps and a brown foot-bed that has a really cute pattern on it. It has pink and purple flowers on it with gold accents as well and looks really cool. They are the perfect pair for summer as they look quite tropical in their print and the gold goes with a lot of the outfits I wear during summer.
The flip flops have a toe post which goes in between your big toe and your next toe. I find this does not rub at all and even if you haven't worn them for a few months and then get them out again they will still not rub which is great. The rubber sole makes these flip flops quite bouncy when you walk on them and they are really comfortable flip flops, the best I have ever worn. They give you a bit of support and the rice design on the foot-bed makes them quite comfortable and do not make the soles of your feet rub like you can get with a flat flip flop. The straps have the word Havaianas written on them and also have a bit of a design on them too to make them look a bit more funkier than just a plain strap. These straps are comfortable and have a slight bend in them on the foot so they mould to the shape of my foot really well and I think this is what stops them from rubbing as well.
All in all a great fashionable flip flop and I am looking forward to purchasing another pair for this summer.
I purchased my pair of haviana flip flops in June 2009 (remember it like it was yesterday!) As I was 7 months pregnant, I had been out shopping and my feet were swollen and sore and I literally wanted to buy the cheapest footwear possible to ease the pain! At the time they were £19.99 and I genuinely haven't looked back since!
You can get them in a variety of colours, and these flip flops are the most durable and comfortable flip flops ever! A well known brand, they can never break as they are 100% rubber (not that they feel like it!) bar between the big toe and second toe is attached to a hole underneath the sole, so if it comes out, you can easily slot it back in (not that this has happened to my pair, but it has to my friend who has had hers for 4 years and they are still going strong). Originating with a brazilian flag design, the brand has branched out, and has many colours, patterns and designs suitable for everyone.
The good thing about havianas is that they are so worldwide (and unisex which is a major bonus!) they can be bought almost anywhere in good footwear retailers e.g. schuh, office (where I bought mine and helps if you can get extra 10% off student discount yay!) and online off amazon etc. They are so comfortable, you can walk along a stony beach with these on, and not feel the uncomfortable lumps and sharp edges underneath so they are extremely thick soled. Being rubber they are easy to clean, should you get them dirty and at the price you pay they are a bargain for flip flops with longevity and a must have for the summer and in everyones suitcase!
What can I say - try these and you'll never buy any other flip flops again!
Havaianas are the flip flops to end all flip flops. I currently own two pairs of Havaianas. My first pair is in a metallic bronze colour, and I've had them for around 4 years now. My second pair is in a metallic blue colour, and I've had for these for around 18 months. The only reason I bought a second pair is so that I could have a choice of colours, there is still loads of life left yet in my first pair. My first pair is actually still in perfect condition, they still look virtually as good as new, they haven't discoloured, they haven't worn down on the sole at all.
Havaianas may seem quite expensive for a pair of flip flops at around £20.00 - £25.00, but they are fantastic quality and are built to last, you will wear these flip flops for years and years to come, whereas a cheaper pair of flip flops may cost less but will probably fall apart long before your Havaianas.
Havaianas come in a wide range of colours, you can get matt colours, metallic colours, two tones and many different patterned prints. I prefer the metallic plain colours as I think that these go with everything, you can dress them up as they have a metallic sheen to them, and obviously any flip flops look good dressed down.
Havaianas are really very comfortable, the sole is quite thick so that they are suitable for walking on any terrain, you won't feel all the lumps and bumps under your feet, in fact it is like walking on air. They have a textured pattern on the footbed of the sole, so that your feet don't slip and slide around when you are wearing them, no matter how hot and sticky your feet may get. Another good thing about Havaianas is that they don't smell ever, no matter how sweaty your feet have been your Havaianas won't smell. Neither of my two pairs smells at all, and one pair is over 4 years old.
The rubber strap and toe post between your toes is built to last and it is really really comfy, it does not rub at all. The rubber straps don't lose their shape, the straps don't get loose at all.
You don't even know that you are wearing these flip flops They are as light as a feather and they last and last. They are brilliant quality, and really good value for money.
Buy a pair, you won't regret it.
Whilst in the local shoe shop at the start of the summer, I came to the conclusion - I am missing a pair of slightly over expensive flip flops from my life. So I selected a lovely pair of size 7 (yes I am Big Foot) grey and black peacock Havaiana's for £25.
I tend to find that most size 7 shoes, boots, flip flops... (you get the point) generally look huge and whilst the display model looks great and petite in the normal size 5. Once the shop assistant hands you your 7's - they never seem quite as nice. Not so with this - even a 7 still looks quite petite and feminine.
I've owned this particular pair now for a couple of months and can honestly say I love them. I've worn them to work in central London (there is no dress code in my office) on a 30 degree day and they've still been comfortable 12 hours later. They did cut my feet slightly on the first couple of wears but I find most flip flops do that and it wasn't bad enough to prevent me from wearing them again. I wouldn't say I've had a lot of use out of them - thanks to our rubbish summer - but even going up to London soon takes it's toll on a lot of shoes and these still look as good as new. Overall, I'd thoroughly recommend buying a pair even if they are a little pricey for Flip Flops.
I had read reviews about Havaianas and seen them advertised in magazines for a number of years. I had always wanted a pair but was always put off by the price. However finally two years ago while on holiday in Gran Canaria I decided to splash out on a pair.
Havaianas originate from Brazil the name is Portuguese for Hawaii.
Havaianas range in price from around £14 to £30 depending on the style you choose. They make flip-flops for both men and women as well as a childrens range. You can get a variety of colours and styles. Ranging from different colour bases to different colour straps. You can also get bases with patterns on them ranging from graffiti like patterns to floral and tribal patterns. The bases also come in slim, regular and a slightly thicker wedged flip-flop. Some of the womens Havaianas also have a differing strap from the usual toe thong type.
The bottom of the flip flop has a distinct rice pattern which is unique to all Havainas.
You can buy Havaianas online at www.havaianas-store.co.uk, from Schuh, Sole Trader and in large department stores such as Debenhams. They also have an online store on Amazon.
I bought a pair of slim gold and pink Havianas which cost me £24. They come in a multicoloured box with the words 'Havaianas' written across the front with a label describing the style and colour as well as the sizing for Europe the US and the UK.
The first thing I noticed when I took them out of the box was that they were made from different material to most flip flops. They are made soley of rubber unlike the usual foamy type flip flops you usually find. The information in the box told me that the flip flops were made from a secret Brazillian rubber. When I first put them on I immediately noticed how comfortable they felt. They were very spongy and squishy under my feet. I used them everyday for the rest of my holiday which included several long walks. I was impressed with how flexible they were. As I walked they seemed to shape my feet.
I normally get blisters off flip flops particularly around the top of my feet where the strap rubs. The straps on these however were also really flexible and didn't irritate my feet.
I have worn these for many a long walk on the beach as well as on various holidays and just around the house. They still look as good as new, and if they do get dirty I simply wipe them over with a wet wipe.
I would give these flip flops 5 out of 5 they really are the Rolls Royce of flip flops and worth paying the extra for. They are so stylish and come in so many designs you can find one that suits you!
***HAVIANAS IN GENERAL***
I first heard of these flip flops a few years ago, when I saw them advertise in a lot of magazines. I often read reviews about how comfortable these flip flops were. I actually purchased a pair of flip flops in New Look a few years ago and they looked a bit like havaiana's. These were really comfortable and they actually prompted me to treat myself to a pair of these flip flops which the magazines kept raving about. Havaianas come in a large range of different colours and slightly different styles. There are specific styles for men and other styles for woman. They also do kid's and babies sandals/flip flops as well. The ladies one's come in a large range of colour including bright pinks and purples and other colours such as black, blue and patterned designs as well. Some of the flip flops have thinner straps then others. The men's havaiana's come in more toned down colours such as black, brown's and blues. Some of them also have pattern's which are referred to as tattoo's on the flip flops as well. Havaiana's are said to be the most comfortable flip flops available to buy due to the rubber material they are made from. This is also very long lasting and also very bendy/flexible for even more comfort when wearing these flip flops.
For the full range of flip flops you can visit the UK website which is http://www.havaianas-store.co.uk/e_commerce/ . Most of their flip flops are about £20 but some may be slightly more expensive. I purchased mine from my local sole trader for £19.99, and they come in their own box. I have also seen these available to buy in House Of Fraser and on websites such as Amazon.
***WEARING THE FLIP FLOPS FOR THE FIRST TIME***
Before I put the flip flops on, I noticed that they were very light and are very flexible and could be bent in half without damaging them. When I walked in them for the first time I noticed how springy and soft they felt on my feet. After wearing the flip flops all day, I was surprised that my feet didn't hurt and in between my toe wasn't sore from the flip flop bar. These really did feel so comfortable to walk in, even all day on grass, stones and other surfaces. I wasn't going to swap these flip flops for any others and I was sure I was going to replace these with any other brand in the future either. I've had my flip flops about 1 year now and although we don't have much of the sunny weather for me to wear them they have been worn a lot going to work, walking on the beach and general walking. These still have so much wear left in them and they are still as comfortable as they were when I first purchased them.
I would highly recommend these flip flops; they come in a great range of colours and styles and are very reasonably priced for the amount of time they last. I have never worn any other flips flops which are as comfortable as these. Although my previous one's are still in good condition I might even treat myself to a new pair from their website as in my local sole trader where I purchased these from there wasn't a great selection of colours to choose from. Give these flip flips a try; your feet will love you!!
(review will also appear on ciao)
If your shoe collection does not contain a pair of flip flops, seriously, what are you thinking? They are the handiest things ever, from keeping your feet off the germ-laden floor at the fitness studio or local pool, to throwing in your bag if you're on the way to a picnic, to wearing comfortably on the beach. You don't have to be a fan of flip flops as daily footwear to need some in your closet.
And, if you're going to buy some flip flops, the only real choice is Havaianas. They are the most comfortable, most durable, and definitely the most stylish variant out there. FitFlops are just a fad, but Havaianas are here to stay.
Made from a solid and supportive rubber base and a comfortable but secure rubber strap, they are simply extremely comfortable. I've been known to walk all day in these shoes, and they really are very comfortable. Of course they're not for hiking in or anything like that, but for walking in the city, park, or at the beach they are perfect.
I also use mine at the gym, I wear them in the shower, sauna room, and changing room. They don't soak up water or take ages to dry, and they are comfortable to wear even when wet. Also an important point, they don't smell, even after they've been wet! Just put them somewhere when you get home where they can properly dry out (this doesn't take long) and they'll be absolutely fine.
But the best thing about Havaianas, as compared to other brands, is that they come in such a great range of colours. Whether you want something playful and bright, or classy and muted, they have something to match your taste. And at such an affordable price (ranging from 10 pounds upwards) you can certainly afford to have a couple of different pairs.
Summer is on the way - so get prepared now!
First things first I have very sensitive feet, in the past wearing flip flops with toe posts have always rubbed at my feet or given blisters, i've even ended up in A&E three times with swollen feet, yes i'm so not kidding, I told you they were sensitive.....
I had almost given up on wearing these design of shoes that is until I read the rave reviews on the comfort of these flipflops which were called Havaianas and how they didn't rub or discomfort the feet.
A little history:
The first pair of Havaianas was made in 1962. They were based on the design of the Japanese Zori, a type of sandal made with fabric straps and rice straw soles. Because of this, Havaianas all have a textured rice pattern on the soles. In the 1990s, the sandals began gathering popularity. Brazilian television stars appeared in commercials and the brand's colorful magazine ads. The Havaianas brand continued to grow throughout the 1990s, with more colors and an expanded line.
Havaianas has had many milestones throughout its existence. As early as 1970, Havaianas sandals were being copied. The slogan "The Real Ones" was born because of knock-offs on the market, as well as emphasis on the fact that the sandals "don't smell, don't lose their shape, and the straps don't get loose." In 1998, a special Havaianas model was created for the World Cup, with a small Brazilian flag on the strap. The model became very popular as a symbol of Brazilian pride. Beginning in 2003, Havaianas sandals became a part of the Oscars, with exclusive models being given to all the nominees. In 2004, a special sandal was created in partnership with jeweler H. Stern. They had an 18k finish and were encrusted with diamonds.
I was pleased to see that the Havaianas were available in many different styles and colours. I have four pairs, two of the original toe post ones, Black and a White pair and two Grey and Brown toe post slim fitting Havaianas. My favourites would have to be the slim fitting ones which for the simple reason is i think they look far more flattering on the feet.
On the strap of the flip flops the word Havaianas is embossed, the logo is also embedded on the foot bed, along with the size of the shoe. Havaianas are made from a durable rubber, very comfortable whilst walking and the rubber is almost sponge like so it feels as if you have a small spring to your step. The shoe as never rubbed me or caused any discomfort to my feet.
On my holiday last year i practically lived in these, from sightseeing during the day or walking to the beach this meant these were my preferred choice of footwear time and time again. I even walked into the sea with them which didn't effect the shoe whatsoever, you can even wash them and they never alter.
Havaianas are available for men, women and children and can be found in many stores and online shops worldwide. I paid £15 for mine from shoe store Office.
I love my Havaianas and definitely do 100% recommend them, pure comfort, a huge thumbs up from me.
Like a lot of women I love shoes I have a rather varied collection but one style of shoe I buy year after year is the flip flop! I live in flip flops during the warm weather and even around the house. I have various styles, colours and brands which make up my large collection. I find flip flops incredibly easy to wear at currently due to having slightly swollen ankles due to pregnancy they are pretty much the only thing that I'm finding comfortable!
My one pair that has been with me for quite a few years are my very faithful Havaianas. I originally saw these when I used to work in retail years ago and I remember that they sold incredibly well to the point that we generally sold out as soon as we had new stock in. My are about 5 years old and still going strong!
Havaianas were created by São Paulo Alpargatas (company) all the way back in 1962 in Brazil and they were inspired from the Zori which is a Japanese sandal made of fabric straps and rice straw soles - hence why the footbed of Havaianas have a rice pattern. They were originally targeted for the poor people of Brazil but throughout the years to follow the trend of Havaianas caught on; celebrities were wearing them, new colours, patterns and global domination set in! These flip flops are now available in over 60 countries making them a very popular choice.
My Havaianas are the original toe thong flip flop which are white with a leopard print footbed (which of course has the rice patter). On the actual strap the word "Havaianas" is embossed. The logo is also printed on the footbed which also gives the size of the flip flops. Havaianas are made from a top secret mix of rubber which makes them unmistakably comfortably.
The actual flip flop itself is quite spongy so every time you walk you get a slight spring in your step which is quite nice as there seems to be a bit of protection from your foot and the ground (as much protection as you can get in a flip flop!). Also the Havaianas are actually quite thick compared to other flip flops. The toe thong (or straps) are made from a more durable rubber/ plastic type material. As I said I have had mine for around 5 years and despite the leopard print pattern slightly faded due to wear the actual flip flops themselves are still in great condition. With some flip flops I notice that you get wear on the heel but with these the back of the heel is still just as even! Albeit the actual sole has been worn there is no damage whatsoever, the straps are still in perfect condition. I find that putting them in the washing machine helps keep them looking good!
Havaianas now come in quite a few styles such as the original, slim, Brazil, logo and fit to name just a few out of the 20 designs that are apparently being manufactured. The one thing I like about Havaianas is that they are always reasonably priced this is due to the fact that the company want these wonderful flip flops to be accessible to everyone.
Havaianas as I said can be purchased in many countries and in the UK they can be bought in places such as Schuh, Office, Bank amongst others. They create ranges for women, men and children meaning that there is something for everyone. They also come in a whole rainbow of colours and patterns which gives a large choice to choose from! Prices start from around £14.99 which I think is incredibly good value.
For me, these are without doubt the comfiest flip flops I own. They have never rubbed my feet, they are comfortable to wear as they are quite spongy and best of all that they have lasted me for quite a few years. Considering I think I paid £20.00 for them and I am still getting plenty of wear out of them today for something so simple they are worth every penny. I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a decent pair of flip flops.
I have been eyeing up Havaianas for a while and heard a lot of recommendations and about a month ago I managed to get a pair and now I am completely obsessed.
If you are a flip flop fanatic you will love these shoes.
They are a brazilian company but there are lots of websites you can get them from, and lots of retail outlets are now stocking them as they seem to be rapidly growing in popularity.
They come in all sorts of colours, patterns, and styles and there are loads to chose from, they look pretty basic and they are made of rubber (I think) not that terrible cheap foam stuff.
I am a bit of a flip flop lover, and am constantly looking around for comfortable and fashionable pairs, and havaianas fit the criteria perfectly.
I can easily say the pair I have are the most comfortable flip flops, maybe even footwear I have ever put my feet into, they are like wearing slippers, even with the toe bar that goes between the big toe and the one next to it, they have never rubbed or anything.
I also have ones with a pattern on the actual flip flop, and I thought that it would rub off in the heat (well that one hot day that was our summer!) but it hasn't and I really do wear them a lot.
You can get a pair of these from anywhere from £16-£150 they are usually about £20.00 but there are some pairs that have crystals and mesh on that are the more expensive ones. I am hoping to expand my collection so that I have a lot of different colour to go with my whole wardrobe, I will definitely be stocking up before my next holiday too.
The only tricky thing with these flip flops is the sizing, on different websites they are labelled differently. Sometimes they are in uk sizes, sometimes European and sometimes Brazilian, but most websites do a conversion. On one website that I purchased them from the ones I got were labelled as a size 3-4 (uk), as I am a size 4 I went for these and they are perfect. So it's just worth researching the size a bit before you purchase them.
If you have considered these, they are really worth the money, they are so comfortable and durable, they are excellent value for money, but for flip flop lovers, beware as you may become obsessed with them!
I bought these the other day as a present for my boyfriend for a big trip he is going on. They are supposed to be 'the world's comfiest flip flop' so for a month of trekking around; I thought they might come in useful. I spent a long time trying to find the cheapest place to buy them from and found that they sell them on eBay, Amazon, schuh, asos, office, the official havaianas website, and loads more. I went for asos as I know I could trust the as being genuine, they had free delivery (6 days) and I had a discount coupon for £5 off. If I hadn't had this, I probably would have gone to schuh where they are £20 but I would have gotten a £2 student discount.
There is a wide range of colours and styles to choose from and they do me, women, unisex and children so really there is something for everyone. The flip flops are made in Brazil and for my boyfriend I chose the yellow ones with the Brazil logo. These also have a green and blue stripe along the side of the flip flops which I think looks cool and it just looks nice really.
This brand is supposed to be the most comfy flip flop brand ever so I have put my boyfriend to the test. He has got a flip-flop-gap between his toes but he has been known previously to come moaning to me for plasters so I was half expecting that this time but he has worn them all day in the garden and around for the last few days and he says they are really comfortable and they haven't rubbed his poor little man tootsies which aren't used to hurting shoes at all. The base of the shoes are really squidgy and soft but at the same time they do support your foot but "walking in them is very comfortable".
Like I said he has been wearing them in the garden today and found them comfy even on gravel and rough ground where sometimes they can be a bit uncomfortable and other flip flops have made you feel this (perhaps it's because these ones are really squidgy?) so that's pretty good. He also said they gave him good grip on the grass etc when he was mowing it earlier.
I bought a size 11-12 I think and h normally wears an 11. The havainas website has a good size guide with different sizes depending on how you like to wear your flip flops, i.e. relaxed or not. Relaxed tells you to wear your actual shoe size and you will have a bit of a gap all round the outside of your foot, and the other one told you to get a size smaller so there is no gap i.e. your heel will sit at the back the flip flop. Personally I went for relaxed as I think it gives you more flexibility if they do come up a bit small as they did only have like 9-10, 11-12 etc.
I think in general, this make is well renound and respected because it has earned its place. The shoes are trendy, comfortable and hard wearing which is brilliant! I have definitely put a smile on my boyfriends face. Now I just need to write enough reviews and get enough rates so I can perhaps get myself some with dooyoo Amazon vouchers!
I orginally heard about Havaianas from a friend at work. She described them as like 'slippers'. I never imagined that this could be true about a pair of flip flops and was doubtful when mine arrived though the post. However i relised how wrong i was! I find them very comfortable, even between the toe post which i find does rub and cause blisters in other flip flops. As they are so comfortable i can wear these all day with no problems. The soles provide you with a bit of a bounce when you walk around, but still provide support to your heels which also adds to the comfort factor.
There are various designs of havians you can buy, some are patterned, some are a plain colour and some are metalic. New designs and styles are often brought out regulary. They also have styles with a thicker sole which looks like a wedge. The price of these flip flops is quite pricey compared to other cheaper brands. The RRP is normally around £20. Quite pricy for a pair of flip flops but definatley worth the money for such comfort.
The flip flops are very light weight, which is great when you are travelling abroad where luggage weights are rescrited.
The only problem i have found with Havaianas is chossing the style and colour. There are so many different options around, that it is hard to select 1 pair. A tip i would give, is if you are not that bothered about the colour and style you get, you can often find them reduced in the sale. Unpopular colours and styles can be found at a 25 or 50% discount if you shop around.
There are several different types of havaianas, and I guess that's what makes them cool, having so many options of style, colour etc. I think due to the popular demands and the price. I reckon the havaianas designers have focused a lot on the trendy side of things and you have great colours and styles, but to be honest the confort is not always there. in the new range they have some kind of sandals / flip - flops, and they are cool yeah, but so unconfortable, that they loose the point. still maybe because of marketing or my vanity, If i have to buy some flip- flos, ill buy havainas and the cool thing is because they have it so many different styles. it will be quite hard to find the same person with the ones your using. so its still a good buy speacially for the summer with shorts.
