Greatest flip flops? Don't believe the hype (Havaianas Flip Flops)

Advantages: Come in a variety of colours

Disadvantages: Feel and look very flimsy, like you're wearing spa shoes to do your errands

I live in flip flops during the summer months and as such, it was difficult for me to escape people lavishing praise on their Havaianas - I heard superlatives ranging from 'most comfortable' to 'most stylish', and I thought I might try them for myself, so I bought a pair of hot pink Havaianas. Typically, I wear Rainbow flip flops, and I don't know if I've been converted. They were in no way more comfortable than my Rainbows - if anything, as they were thinner with more give on the straps (rather than sporting shorter straps, which meant the 'flop' was always staying close to my foot), they were less comfortable than my Rainbows. I also was never able to shake the feeling that I was only wearing shower shoes - albeit, pricey shower shoes - around town. I am unconvinced they are worth the hype - I keep them around for walking around the house in, and bring them to hotels with me when I don't want to be walking bare foot around the bathroom or carpeted areas, but for the beach, boardwalk, or mall, I'm going to stick to Rainbows.

Summary: Unless you are a flip flop conisseour and must own a pair, I wouldn't waste my time...
