Advantages: Excellent quality, great style, tall design, reflective patches, long-lasting, high-performing

Disadvantages: Possibly price, but I think they are worth every penny!

I have purchased three pairs of these wellies so far, and have loved them. There are no negatives that I have found at all, except that they generally do not come cheap. I bought the green classic hunters for my daughter over three years ago, and I sized up by a whole size. She wore thick socks initially (you can buy the fleece welly liners which are suggested to make you need a size bigger anyway) and normal socks as her feet grew. My son is now wearing them, and I expect my third child to get a couple of years' wear out of them when she is the right size too. They remain in excellent condition, despite three years of the child treatment (welly flinging comp anyone?!). The finish is slightly less "polished" than it was, but there is basically very minimal wear and tear and the quality is excellent. They fell as if they are built to last, and are suitable for more than just the odd puddle-walk.

The wellies are a great height on the leg, as the originals are the "tall" ones (as opposed to the kids "first wellies" which are shorter and don't have the buckle on. Compared to many other kids wellies, this means that they keep more of the leg drier, and provide protection higher up the calf. The height of the welly depends on the size purchased, and there is a great chart on the Hunter website which lists the boot shaft height of each size so you can see exactly how big they will be.

They feature a coveted "Hunter" logo on the front, and come with a logoed boot bag in the box which can be useful for carrying them around. The logo has not faded or worn off in 3 years of wear as it has on other branded kids footwear we have had.

The fit of these wellies is one of their strengths - they feel as if they have been actually made "foot-shaped" because they are made on an orthopaedic last. I can tell the difference when I feel my kids' feet through them, and also from the fact that they are happy to wear them for long periods without whingeing! (/a rare treat!)

They have reflective patches on the back, which are great for walking in dark conditions as they help to improve visibility and add a useful safety feature, as well as looking quite stylish!

The sole of the wellies features an excellent grip, which hasn't worn off at all with years of regular use. They have a "heel" but this is only small and really helps with grip and allows them to be used for active activities e.g. horseriding, climbing frames etc. It is a positive, practical feature and is so slight that it doesn't look out of place.

The lining is soft and welcoming, but also dries quickly if you get any moisture in them.

Overall, they are excellent design and quality, and really feel like they are made to be used lots, not just as a short-term puddle fashion.

Summary: Highly recommended, they are as great as you think they might be!
