For over a year I have been promising myself a pair of Hunter Wellies to wear when walking my dog however at £80 a pair, there just always seemed to be something more important to be spending my money on, so I made do with various cheap Wellies bought from supermarkets and shoe stores and convinced myself that Hunter was more of a fashion statement and that the cheap boots were every bit as good.
How wrong was I!?! Courtesy of Santa Claus, I finally got my Hunter boots and I am absolutely thrilled with them. In black gloss, they are smart and shiny and go with everything. They sit high up on the leg and come to just below my knee and they fit like a glove. I cannot believe how comfortable these Wellies are. There is no need to break them in as they are so soft to wear and are comfortable from the word go.
Depending on what socks you are wearing, I would say the boots may come up a little big on size. When I first tried them on I only had thin socks and was worried they were too big for me however when I put my fleece liners into the boots, they were perfect.
With cushioned soles these make me feel like I have a spring in my step and I can run and even drive in these boots which would have been out of the question with other Wellies. I have now worn these boots in the ice, snow and through a lot of mud and they have gripped well and still look fabulous. I did buy the Hunter Cleaning kit which is great for keeping the boots in tip top condition. I am sure that these boots are going to last me for years to come.
Ok, so I bought the short version and have been satisfied with it so far but each time I put them on I just felt that there was something missing. I then decided to treat myself to the taller version in black, as an early (very early) Christmas gift to myself and I haven't looked back since. Set me back 80 quid too but I don't really mind the price because they look so much nicer and of course, it's also because it's of such good quality and will definitely last.
To help maintain the look of my wellies, I bought the Hunter boot buffer and I know it was worth the buy because of how instantly it revitalised the look of my short gloss hunter boots after I'd worn them a lot and was lazy to clean or maintain them after each use.
Because these boots are much taller, they really enhance any outfit you put together to wear and I love them for that. These boots have attracted a bit of (positive) attention whilst I've worn them out on the streets; I catch people looking at them as I'm walking past them (Both women and men). You can sort of tell that they wish they had one or were brave enough to wear them. Puts a bit of smile on my face when people take notice of them.
These wellies provide adequate insulation and are fully waterproof. They're also made with vulcanised rubber so they're really strong. They provide a very good grip and have adjustable straps for a better fit. They have cushioned insoles which adds extra comfort for the wearer.
I've also bought the Hunter fleece socks in the tall range for use in the cold weather. I have to say, these boots have helped me a lot this December, especially because we've had quite a bit of rain; it's helped keep the rain out even more than when I wore my short hunter wellies and it's been a huge bonus for me.
So glad I got them!
