Intelex Hot Slippers
Advantages: Comfy and warm
Disadvantages: You can't walk in them
These are the daftest slippers I've ever had!!! I'm a big fan of microwave wheat packs which I use for a whole host of things, not just as an alternative to a hot water bottle but I use them for aches and pains.
These were given to me and I'm so glad I didn't buy them- they retail at £10 from Amazon and are available off the Intelex web site.
The slippers are:
Microwave in two minutes
Filled with flax grains and lavender
They look really comfy and are, the material is fluffy and soft, once on they're not too heavy. They don't have a good bottom to walk on- you certainly can't go outside in them. I've never washed them and looking at them I'm not sure you could. I can't really comment on their longevity as they're not used that much, but they are well made, none of the seams have come apart and spilled the contents everywhere.
The first thing that puts me off is the fact that they go in the microwave, my son pointed out that 'Wouldn't they smell of sweaty feet in there?' they don't all they smell of is the lavender and wheat contents- just the same as the wheat packs, when you use them they're not as 'moist' as wheat packs though. You are instructed to heat for a couple of mins then put on your feet to which they are supposed to stay warm for upto two hours- I don't think they do though, a while but not two hours.
The second problem is trying to walk in them- no you can't walk in them!! my son tried to go upstairs which proved impossible. Being one size and quite long (29 cms) and wide we've all had a go and one size fits all.
These are great if I've been on my feet all day and are aching and are nice on a cold evening, but I don't really bother with them. Yes they keep your feet warm and yes they are comfy, but they're just a novelty. Foot warmers would be a better description than slippers.
Three stars from me, because I like the idea of them but they're not practical.
Summary: These are a nice 'bed' slipper but that's about all.
