I love shoes, and I own way more than my other half would like to me to lol. I just keep on buying more though, and I am sure that most women on this site will agree with me that a woman can just never have enough shoes!! I have quite a good range of shoes in my collection, and one pair I love is my Muerte Punk Princess Platform Shoes. These are made by Iron Fist, who are a company that specialise in "alternative" styles of shoes. I first found them when I was searching for new shoes on Amazon, and they came up in the search results. It was love at first site, and although they were a little bit on the expensive side, I just had to order them. The shoes are stilletto heeled, which is a style I do not usually wear, especially since having knee surgery, but these were just that pretty I had to make an exception. The shoes are also peep toe, but not as much of a peep toe as I have seen on other shoes, more of a tease of toe lol. The design on the shoes is pink roses, and white/gray skulls. It doesn't sound nice when you say it, but to look at them is truly different. The way the pattern has been designed is very pretty, elegant and smooth. The pattern just flows nicely all the way across and around the shoe. Across the front of the shoe is a black band, which has a row of small, pink squares running along it. This reminds me of the studded belts that were fashionable with alternative styles last year, and I believe this is what the designer was going for when he or she added this to these shoes. I was originally worried as to how much these shoes would hurt, not only my feet, but my knee as well. Luckily my knee has healed up quite well, and I am able to walk in these now, but not for more than a couple of hours at a time. I do spend a lot of my night sitting down when I go out in these, just for the sake of my knee. I have been able to dance in them once in a while, and I am amazed to find that these are actually quite easy to walk in. The shoes fit nice and snugly on my feet, so there is no slipping and sliding when I walk. Luckily they are not too snug either, so there is no cutting or sore spots from wearing these. Nothing is worse than a pretty pair of shoes you can not wear because they cause too many problems and too much pain. There is a slight padding in the insole of these shoes, so there is a good squishiness to them when you walk, which keeps your feet comfortable and relaxed, but it is still sturdy enough not to effect the way you walk when you wear them. I was worried about the heel being too thin, but it still appears to be pretty sturdy, has shown no signs of snapping or swaying. Even though I have worn these a few times, there is still no sign that they have been worn. They look brand new still, and due to the way the shoes are made it is easy to wipe them clean if you get them dirty. Iron fist shoes are usually quite close to the expensive side, and these are no exception. I paid £43.99 for these on Amazon, which is the cheapest place I have been able to find them. They are also available in Schuh stores and on the Schuh website, but they will cost you £49.99 if you buy them this way. I can not find a fault with these shoes, they are amazing quality and look wonderful with pretty much any outfit. I give this shoes a 5 out of 5, and I totally recommend them to anyone (except for those who are actually unable to wear high heels!)
When I first saw these shoes in the shop window I couldnt work out if I liked them or not. The style appealled to me, they have a very retro pin-up girl feel with the platform and peep tow front, but the design concerned me, I was left wondering if I would be too old to get away with having skulls on my shoes! However after making the plunge to buy them, and they're not cheap (I paid £40 for them), my view completely changed and they have become one of my favourite shoes to wear! Firstly the shoe itself, is suprisingly comfortable. The heel is very high but the platform at the front really evens it out and makes it feel as though your wearing a lot smaller heels than you are. The sole is also comfortable, it has a slight cushioning making the shoes easier to wear for long periods without the inevitable aching on the balls of the feet. The design which I was initially concerned about looks a lot nicer on and at a distance (as people dont tend to get up close and personal with your feet!), people often comment on the shoes and cant actually tell that there are skulls on there and I quite enjoy seeing peoples faces when I show them the design! The splashes of pink on the black and white background really stand out and makes the whole design look girlier. I think these shoes are a safe and chic way to get in touch with your inner rock chick without going for the whole style. The price is the only downside for me, they are quite expensive (for me anyway) for something that is what I consider to be a bit of a 'novelty' shoe. Despite this I would definately recommend to a friend as they are comfortable, look great and you are pretty much guaranteed that you wont see anyone else in them!
I won a competition a few months ago, it was for vouchers from an American clothes site who I buy from occasionally. The problem was that when they realised I was Birmingham UK and not Birmingham Al. they said they'd honour the prize but I'd have to pay postage. There wasn't much in the way of actual clothing for the $100 voucher once postage came out of it, so I ended up buying this pair of Iron Fist Punk Princess shoes and a clutch bag. I wasn't sure about the shoes when I ordered them but there was something about them when I first saw them on the site so I took a chance. After all, there's always Ebay. When they arrived I loved them straight away. They've got a strong rock chick design but the hidden wedge, pink studs and lining make them a lot more feminine than the skull and goth appearance really should. The shoes have a 4 1/2 inch heel, that would be high but the platform raises the front to balance the height out. The platform also has a softer feel than you think it's going to, this gives a fab cushioning effect on the balls of my feet that makes walking in them more comfortable than in some shoes with a lower heel. I like the bulkier style of the shoe, they're not heavy to walk in and although the sides are quite high they definitely don't feel as though they restrict my feet. The peeptoe is perfect, showing a hint of toe which looks excellent with either a gothic black nail polish or letter box red. Next time I wear them I'm planning to try a pink polish to match the studs and small roses dotted across the skull design of the shoe. These shoes might look a bit daunting, but they really are more practical to wear than you might think. They are perfect with skinny jeans but go well with a little black dress and dark tights too. It should prove how comfortable and well made the shoes are that with such a high heel I actually wore them three weeks ago, at nearly 7 months pregnant. I had a trendy maternity dress on which was cut to be quite short, for the first time in ages that night I didn't feel 'pregnant' (even though I had a huge bump) so bravely wore these Iron Fist shoes. I felt great all night and my ankles didn't swell to the size of pillows, people commented on how good they looked and I definitely got a few jealous looks! Mine are a size 4 and the style is true to other shoes I have in that size. I like a snug fit with platform front shoes because I think they make them all the more comfortable. These are great and the fit is perfect, there hasn't been any rubbing on the backs of my feet and the shoes have a very comfortable shape to fit my instep. I have worn these several times now, when I fancy something different. I've worn them for nights out and even for a shopping trip to York a few weeks ago. Didn't last long in them in York, too much walking for these WAG type shoes! Comfortable only goes so far! The shoes have stayed in new condition, I haven't got them dirty yet (must have been behaving...) but when they do start to show the marks a quick wipe over will do them thanks to the sheen of the shoe. I can see them lasting for a long time, y'know the gut feeling when you just know you've got a pair of shoes that's a keeper. £55.99 from Simply Be.
