My boyfriend certainly knows how to keep a girl happy because I barely even had to drop a hint for him to surprise me with these shoes and make many of my friends so green with envy that they very nearly could have coordinated with them!
The shoes are made by Iron Fist who specialise in alternative clothing and footwear. I own quite a few items from this label already but this was my first pair of high heels from the company.
***Price and availability***
I had seen these shoes when they first came out and were available directly from the Iron Fist UK website for around £60 but couldn't afford them at the time. They are no longer available directly from Iron Fist (I don't think they have been for some time) but can be found in many other places for around £40. I believe my boyfriend bought these on Ebay (because he's almost as addicted as I am) but there are plenty of other stores online who have these currently in stock (shoes.co.uk is one of many that comes up in a quick google search).
It probably won't shock you much to hear that these shoes come in a shoe box! It's a rather nice black one with Iron Fist written over the top and sides in bright pink and features a cord carry handle on one side for easy transportation. As far as boxes go I guess this one is pretty good.
Inside the box the shoes come well packaged with a plastic piece in each shoe to help it retain shape and tissue paper printed with Iron Fist to ensure that the shoes will not rub against each other or the box and incur damage.
These are really eye catching shoes! They are mainly green in colour with pink surrounded zombie eyes on the sides (one on the side of each shoe, though the inside one is smaller than the outer), a fancy black bow to the back and white teeth surrounded peep toes. The green and black patterning to the shoe continues into the lining making the shoes look fabulous inside and out and there is even an eye printed onto the bottom of the shoe in black to complete the look!
I appreciate that many people may not manage to co-ordinate these with anything in their wardrobe but they do ft in perfectly with my mix of mainly punk rock and rockabilly pieces interspersed with more plain, classic pieces. I find the shoes look particularly stunning worn with a plain black dress.
As I said previously I own other items from Iron Fist, this includes a few pairs of sandals and flat shoes and so I was very surprised to find that it took me a good few minutes to wedge my feet into these shoes as I know that other shoes from the same place fit well! I do admit that this gets better and they ease up a little with wear but the fit is still quite snug!
***These shoes are made for walking...or are they?***
Surprisingly, despite the fact that these shoes are a bit snug and I don't often wear heels (especially ones this high and thin) I can walk quite well in these shoes! They are obviously not ideal for anything where you expect to be doing a lot of walking, but you won't wobble everywhere you go!
As with any well made high heel, the shoes are made in such a way that they distribute your weight well, making it easier to balance in them and meaning that your feet are less likely to hurt after an evening of wear. I'm pleased to report that although these are never going to be the most comfortable choice of footwear these killer heels don't kill my feet!
***Other colours and matching items***
These shoes also come in a pink colour, I vastly prefer the green as I've never really been one for pink. The pink ones seem less easy to come by.
Also available is a matching bag , the Zombie Chomper Bag; which comes in green or pink to match with the shoe colour. These are reasonably small handbags with a zombie like face similar to the shoe design with black bows on the handles. My fella kindly offered to get me the matching bag but for some reason it doesn't appeal to me. However, it's nice to have the option of a bag to match your shoes!
I have also seen high tops, hoodies, t-shirts, backpacks, boots, flip flops and vest tops with the same kind of zombie print available from Iron Fist to ensure that all your zombie clothing needs are catered for. These all seem less popular and more difficult to find than the shoes and bag though.
***Thoughts of others***
The fact that my boyfriend purchased these is pretty high praise to begin with, if he hadn't liked them he would have let me spend my own money rather than surprise me with a pair. He likes the fact that they make me tall, it makes a nice change for him seeing as I'm only 5'2" and he's around 6'6"!
I've never once worn these shoes without them attracting positive comments, even people who wouldn't necessarily wear them themselves still tend to marvel at the design. They also attracted a lot of attention when I posted a picture of them on a social networking site, with many friends and relatives asking where the shoes were from.
The biggest fan of these shoes so far is my 12 year old daughter who confessed she would have been hobbling around the house in them by now if only her feet weren't too tiny for her to pinch my footwear!
I very nearly gave these 5 stars as they are fantastic, well made shoes which never fail to draw attention and have a range of coordinating items available to go with them, however the fit of them let them down just enough that I felt I should knock a star off. I would still highly recommend these shoes!
I was bought these shoes as a graduation gift, so I am unsure of the exact cost but I think they were about £60 or thereabouts, though this was a few months ago and they may have dropped in price a bit as Iron Fist often do when newer styles are released.
Firstly, I absolutely adore these shoes, I love the design, all of Iron Fist designs are really different but these are just so quirky and odd I love them! They are very eye catching and I always get people commenting on them whenever I wear them, they feel very special and look good with a plain black dress or really cool with jeans.
They are pretty high, the heel is around 6 inch & there is a concealed platform at the front. They are well padded on the ball of the foot though so in that sense they are pretty comfortable. What I do have to say about these shoes, which I have noticed with Iron Fist shoes in general, is that the sizes are very small. I usually am a shoe size 8, sometimes a 7, but a size 8 in these is a pretty tight fit. Normally a size 8 shoe in pretty much any other brand is plenty roomy enough but these are a bit of a sqeeze and do pinch my toes a bit. I don't think they do a size 9 so I have no choice but to stick with this size, but I would recommend anyone else to try a size bigger.
The bottom line however is that these are really fab shoes; unusual, colourful and stylish!
~ Iron Fist Zombie Stomper ~
Why? That was my first question when these strange pair of shoes were delivered one morning. Okay I admit to having a shoe obsession and yes I do have different colours and styles but I couldn't get my head around the idea of Zombie shoes! Zombies are not generally my thing to be fair but my hubby had bought them as a present to me after I bought him a new Xbox game.
Zombies! I ask!
Well they are made by a company called Iron Fist who are a quite unique company and specialise in alternative style clothing. I will be honest and say I had never heard of them before I got these shoes and neither had my hubby, his reasoning was that they looked quite cool for a pair of shoes! I think he paid in the region of around £30 for them a few months back.
Whilst I admit to be not very taken with them, I did wear them on a night out with a simple black dress and they got quite a lot of attention! And I do have to say that when I had them on, with my dress and tan I did fall in love with them a little!
They have a 6inch heel and a 2cm platform at the front, they have cute little peep toe fronts and a lovely bow and satin area on the back, and that is where the prettiness ends!
Across the top strap are the Zombies teeth, either side of the shoe hosts some gruesome looking eyes and then the rest is covered with more Zombie-esque styleness to them. They are coloured in green, black and pink, even the sole of the shoes hosts a rather ugly Zombie eye!
The heels are covered in a flecked material as it the front of the platform, the rest of the shoe is plasticky man made material.
Being the design they are, they will and do attract comments and people generally love the funkiness of them, I wore them all night with no pain at all and have also since wore them with skinnies and they just do set off an outfit! I found them quite comfortable for heels and they certainly are not as uncomfortable to walk in as some shoes I own!
If you want your feet to be a talking point I would recommend these!
Thanks for reading :o) x
Iron fist make alternate style clothing but they mainly focus on shoes. The zombie stompers are now available in green, pink, purple and you can buy them in wedges and flats as well. I got the original green zombie stomper heels two years ago as a Christmas present. You can buy these from a lot of websites that stock Iron fist shoes but if you're not sure who just type it into Google and a lot of results will come up. You can find these in alternate store and there are a lot of these on Ebay as well going for quite cheap a lot of the time. When I got these they were £60 but these days they can be purchased new for around £40.
These are 6 inches high but are plat formed as well so it makes it a little easier to walk in these,I don't wear heels often so I do find walking in these a little hard sometimes especially halfway through the night. The stompers are peep toe which I love,it makes them look even cuter but a pain because you have to go through the effort of painting your toes! (well I do anyway) These also have a pretty bow on the back of the heels which to me makes them really girly even with a fleshy zombie pattern on the shoe.
The design to me is brilliant. There are eyes on either side of the shoe which has pinky flesh around them and a set of teeth or the front of the shoe. The rest is green and black. The material is made out of a plasticy material although I'm not too sure what it is although you can clean these by wiping over it with a damp cloth. Despite me loving the design and wanting to wear these all the time I can't because they're too high for me and they are a hight that I can never get used too even if I wear these all the time. Also because they are bright green. It is very hard to dress with iron fist shoes especially when they are bright green. You have to team these up with something black and not everyone owns plain black clothing.
These really stand out and are very noticeable on your feet however after wearing these about 4 times the heels are very worn down which is quite annoying, these are really expensive shoes so having to get them re heeled all the time isn't something you expect to be doing. I hardly wear these and have been tempted to sell them from lack of wear but I just can't bare to part with them.
