I have a huge shoe collection, which includes some beautiful shoes.
I love Irregular Choice shoes as they are so unique and deliberately beautiful forcing you to part with your money whether you can afford it or not!
~About Irregular Choice ~
Irregular Choice is a brand that was created in 1999 by London born, Dan Sullivan to offer something new and different to the footwear market, like no other brand has managed.
The website, www.irregularchoice.com is one of the most viewed websites worldwide, most likely because of the demand for something original.
~ Name ~
Each pair of Irregular Choice shoes is given a name to help to identify or search for a specific design. These shoes are called 'Cortesan Floral Bar'. They were first released by Irregular Choice a few years ago before they started giving their shoes names that were a bit more exciting such as 'May Contain Nuts' and 'Can't Touch This'.
I have these Irregular Choice Cortesan Floral Bar shoes in 3 different colours. I have a pair in black floral print, a pair in metallic green and a pair in metallic purple.
I will review my green ones as I love them and I have them to hand.
~ Price and availability ~
These shoes are widely available in silver and the occasional burgundy pair come up, but the green, purple, pink, red or black floral print are quite hard to find now as they were released a few years ago.
The silver pair are available from www.schuh.co.uk for £80.00 or www.irregularchoice.co.uk for £78.00.
The burgundy pair are available from www.schuh.co.uk for £54.00 reduced from £80.00.
You can sometimes pick them up in other colours from www.amazon.co.uk or www.ebay.co.uk.
~ Appearance ~
These shoes simply beautiful.
They are dark green with a very detailed metallic green floral and paisley pattern all over them. The detail is beautiful.
There is a strap and buckle across the front of the shoes and then on the toes there are some dark green fabric flowers.
The shoes have a rounded, pointed toe if that makes sense. The toe does point, but it isn't like your typical pointy shoes. The point is rounded and it is wide so these shoes aren't ugly like some pointed toe shoes can be.
The shoes feel textured and the dark green material feels almost furry, but the metallic green is smoother.
There are 19 holes going right across the Mary Jane strap.
The heel is 10cm or 4 inches high. The inside of the heel only measures 5cm or 2 inches and a lot of the height is in the curve of the heel at the back.
The shoe does not have a platform, but the heel has a platform, which makes the heels look smaller than they actually are, which in my opinion is not a good thing.
Either way I think these shoes are stunning and I absolutely love them.
~ Wearing the shoes ~
I have found these shoes to be true to size. I wear my usual size in these shoes.
The shoes feel comfortable. There is obviously no problem with the adjustable strap as, with 19 holes across it, you can fasten it as tight or slack as you like.
With the fabric flowers on the front and the detailed metallic effect, these shoes do look quite dressy.
I have only ever worn them on nights out, but I think they'd be nice for special occasions.
They look great with a little black dress. I personally don't think I would wear them with jeans because I think they are too dressy to wear with jeans, but my black floral print pair with dark pink flowers would look good with jeans so it depends which colour you go for really.
The shoes feel comfortable on and they are comfortable and easy to walk in. They don't nip or rub my feet. I haven't done a lot of walking in them, but I imagine the balls of your feet would start to ache if you were walking, dancing or standing up in them for a long time.
A few of my friends have declared their love for these shoes. They always attract positive comments when I wear them.
The fabric flowers are secured onto these shoes well so I don't have to worry that they will come loose or fall off.
The shoes themselves feel very sturdy, but I have to admit the Mary Jane strap across the front feels pretty flimsy. It feels soft and flexible and I feel as though I could pull it off if I tried.
~ Conclusion ~
These shoes are really beautiful and I am really pleased to own them in 3 colours. I would consider buying them in another colour. I know there is a pink colour available, which I think are nice.
I love these shoes. They are comfortable to walk in and they look great on.
I think they are definitely worth the price tag, but it is a shame that some colours are quite difficult to find. I wouldn't mind the burgundy pair, but I don't really fancy the silver pair.
These shoes were the first thing I bought for my upcoming wedding - I even bought them before the dress. I just feel head over heels in love with them! They are a creamy coloured suede covered in metallic gold patterns with beautiful scallop edging detail. Of course, the thing that catches the eye most are the beautiful fabric flowers of the front. Some of the flowers are wired, so you can move them around a little, and I've seen other people fluff their flowers up quite a bit. I have yet to decide whether to wear mine flat or puffed up, as they look amazing both ways. There is also a small strap across the foot, which was important to me as I often feel as though I am slipping out of traditional heels as I walk, and I've not had that problem with these heels. Also, the placement of the strap quite low down on the foot is especially flattering - I try to avoid heels with too high straps as they make my legs look shorter, but again, this is not an issue with these lovelies.
As for wearing them, well, they are surprisingly comfortable! The heel is about 10cm and if you don't wear heels a lot, you may find your feet getting tired in them. But personally, I find them a dream to wear. The inside of the shoe is so soft, and even a little bit padded, that I've even done without my usual Party Feet insoles. The heel feels sturdy to walk on, and not at all flimsy as though it might break. I feel confident walking in them. The toe area is generously wide, meaning no pinched little toes or blisters. It seems that different people have different patterned soles - mine came with pale blue soles with birds, elephants and roses on them. Almost too lovely to walk in! The inner is pink with a bird pattern. They also came is a wonderful box, wrapped in patterned tissue paper, and included each heel bases.
I have heard other people claim that these shoes run small, and that it's best to go one size up. I usually take a 6 1/2 so originally opted for a size 7, which was much too big. I returned them for a 6, which is perfect, so it may take a bit of trial and error to find the perfect size. I paid £79 for mine, and they were well worth the money. I can't wait to wear them at my wedding and after the big day, I'll definitely be keeping them to glam up party frocks for the foreseeable future.
You know those little pads you can get, made out of plasticky material, designed to "cushion" ones feet when wearing heels? Well you won't need them anymore, not with these bad boys; and not least because they have a gloriously comfy lining inside the shoe to snuggle into your tootsies.
The fabulousness begins from the minute they arrive, because the box is a feast for eyes in itself with a lovely pattern that sets off against the sole of the shoes themselves. The shoe on the outside is predominantly metallic print on top of a material that gives off a velvet appearance, with a layered effect consisting of a wavy edge. Then of course there are the flowers constructed from various materials with a bead in the centre to set them off.
The heel is 3 and a 1/2 inches and is positioned in such a way that it gives off what I would deem an "Elizabethan-esque" look. The strap on the shoe is fully adjustable; a feature for me that is absolutely necessary to keep the shoe on my foot as I walk! The strap is also lined, therefore not comprimising on the shoe's over all quality and attention to detail.
I make a point of sourcing the most unusual items of clothing and shoes that I can, in this day and age when everything is so samey I believe that although Irregular Choice shoes are readily available on the high street they give you that little bit of Stand-Out-From-The-Crowd quality that I want when it comes to what I'm wearing. These shoes do the job amazingly; I get compliments EVERY single time I wear them. Given the fact that they are heels and thus raising your feet off the ground, placing majority of the pressure on the balls of your feet, they probably will make your feet hurt eventually, but that is the nature of heels. Thus far I have manage to have worn these shoes for approximately four hours without experiencing any true discomfort. A cracking pair of shoes indeed.
I wouldn't however recomend wearing in bad weather such as rain, sleet or snow though. They are not built for weather. They are built for indoor use, and for making your feet look and feel smashing.
I am a huge fan of irregular choice shoes. They are so unique and so funky, they are guarenteed to turn heads and get loads of compliments. These were one of the first pair of irregular choice shoes that I bought. I bought them fom schuh who have a wide selection of irregular choice shoes but I have also found the irregular choice web site has some good deals and a wide choice to choses from (picking just one is hard). It was around christmas time when I bought these shoes and I wanted something that stood out and would get noticed. As you can see I got my wish.
The shoe feels like a luxury item. The material feels like a velvet material and the attention to detail is amazing. The shoe has a very pretty 3D flower design at the front. The material also has a sparkle to it which ensures the colour does not look flat, and as mentioned the shoe material has texture. The heel is not too high and does not put strain on the balls of you feet. The design of the shoe ensures that your whole foot is supported. The shoe is a slip on but there is a bar across your lower foot which gives added support. The shoe lining is another luxury, it is lined with a velvet material and is vey soft. Due to the shoe already being very comfortable I am unsure whether this helps with the comfort but it does make the shoes look fabulous.
The only downside is that the material is not water proof so I would not recommend stand out in the rain for too long in them. Also the heel is covered in the velvet mateial so it is difficult to clean should it get dirty. But seen as I love these shoes so much I dont mind avoiding dirty, wet areas. I bought the shoes for £69 so i know for some this will be quiet steep but my excuse is I love shoes and they always make you feel good.
I would recommend to all the ladies out there who love their shoes, and to all the men out there who want to get in their ladies good books these shoes are the way to go.
Irregular Choice is a brand of shoes that you will either love or hate they are a very particular brand and will not appeal to all shoe lovers.
I myself love the brand I think they are different and they make you stand out from the crowd, they come in literally all shapes and colours.
I was brought Cortesan Floral Bar Courts for Christmas; I believe they were brought from Schuh. I have wanted them for around 6 months after seeing them in London but found they were rather expensive for what I hate to say it a court shoe. The price was around £79.99 (this maybe slightly out as they were a present) now compared to other shoes I have brought this is at the other end of the price scale.
I don't mind paying more for quality and these shoes are made very well, they have beautiful detail on the shoe and this makes them stand out from other shoes on the market.
The flowers on the front are made from a velvet type material and found they can get extremely dirty and are hard to keep clean, this may also be due to the colour...
The shoes are comfortable and wore them at work before a party as thought they would hurt, but after 8 hours and numerous flights of stairs they didn't pinch, give me blisters or make my feet ache.
I would 100% recommend these and many of the girls admired them, which makes the price less of an issue.
I love to wear something on my feet that makes me feel special every now and then and living in a city am often mosying around the shops. After all, a girl loves her shoes!!
Schuh is a popular shop with me as there are always versatile styles and a good range of branded shoes, trainers and boots available. The other great thing, is thatif your size of any shoe is not available in store, they will send them to you for free!! - Fabulous! - Anyway i am not here to talk about Schuuh, but the beautiful and fabulously authentic Irregular choice range - the floral car court shoe to be exact.
Irregular choice are a brand of shoe you will either love or hate. Very flamboyant in nature and not the cheapest choice around, these flats, court shoes and boots retail from anything around £39.99 up to £99.99 and above.
NOw the website itself is a magical trip to the funfair and can take a little navigating, but persevere, as you will not be dissapointed! Irregular choice was originally set up in Brighton in 1999 by a young gent and has expanded remarkably in the last 12 years. These shoes can be found on the internet and good footwear outlets, such as schuh and vary in price as already mentioned.
These come in sizes 3-8, but i feel that they are a little on the small size so go bigger and i have fairly broad feet and these are fine, more snug than loose but i can live with it!!
Now i saw these shoes and had to have them. I have to admit mine are in Fuschia pink and silver, the suede flower being in pink and the patterning in silver and i have never regretted them. IN fact, i have since bought a second pair!
I bought them for £69.99 and was already excited when i saw the box they came in!!
This box is fantastic. COvered in pink and blue squares and a picture of a girl in an american indian outfit with a feather in her hair. The beauty of this box is that it is not top opening but like a drawer. You put your pinkie (finger) in the little plastic lined hole and pull out your fabulous shoes!!
The shoes themselves are made of leather ( what you would expect for £70), and the heel is 10cm tall. What is also great is that the pair comes with spare heel bases for when you wear the originals down, saving you a premature trip to the heel bar. The underneath of the shoe has the same amercian indian picture that is on the box, which made me reluctant to wear them, didnt want to lose this funky picture!!
The insole would you believe is velvet/velour!! Makes you feel so special and as though this product is really quite luxurious! The front of the shoe where your toes sit, seems a little squat on the design but do try them on as they are remarkably comfortable and with the heel the height it is, you dont feel like you have to totter about in fear of toppling over!!
These shoes look great with jeans, a party frock or leggings. Hardly casual though, these shoes have brought a lot of attention and are always commented on. I love them. Comfortable, durable, good quality and beautiful. A keeper in my wardrobe for life!!
Few things in life compare with that instant spark of connection know as Love at First sight. It's a common phenomenon experienced among the Shoe Loving fraternity, and it will hit you like a bus the moment you try these shoes on for the very first time.
If you are looking for a pair of shoes that are different, funky and make you stand out then Ladies, I present to you the Floral T-Bar Courtesan Court shoe from the clever cookies at Irregular Choice. Quirky, cookie and guaranteed to be the receiver of many compliments anywhere. The shape is cute, the design is fantastic and to wear they are simply divine being very comfortable indeed.
They are by no means cheap at £75 a pair, but if you are looking for a special pair of shoes that you can whip out for occaisions when you want to stand out from the crowd, they are well worth saving up for. The best part is, they come in a few different colours so no heart break when it comes to finding a wicked pair of shoes that go with your outfit.
The heel is 3 and a 1/2 inches high. There is a plush lining on the inside of the shoe gracing both the insole area and the upper part of the inner shoe, which simply adds to the comfort. The design of the main shoe is continued down onto the heel, and there is a funky design to be found on the sole of the shoe for extra fun in showing off. Each shoe has a set of fabric flowers which are not exactly matching but given the nature of the design of these shoes it simply adds to the charm. There is a strap, also lined with the same plush fabric as the inside of the shoe, and also making it very comfortable. This strap is adjustable, as you would expect. The front of the shoe is raised slightly at the front, but this does not effect balance when worn. To top it all off, even the presentation of these wonderful shoes is exsquisite, as the box is a vibrant and funky work of art, just like the shoes themselves.
Irregular Choice Cortesan Floral Bar Court
I love Irregular Choice shoes, as a brand they design and produce beautiful yet quirky shoes that are a tad expensive, but they do make an impact. Whether you love them or loathe them they do tend to stand out from the majority of shoes available, especially, in the small collection of shoes that I own. These are a pair of shoes that I wanted from the moment I first saw them, but it took me a while to waggle the budget around in order to afford them.
I am not going to start by saying that these shoes are among the comfiest of the shoes that I own, because they really aren't. However, that being said for a night out or a lunch with friends then these are fine as long as too much walking isn't involved. The heel is quite small and the plastic base isn't the best quality, I choose to get mine replaced with a metal stud to give the shoes a bit better longevity. The heel is 10cm high, so they are of the higher variety.
These shoes are available in different colours, I own the dark black pair. They have a black patterned suede design with a large floral chunky display on the front tip of the shoe. They look and feel gorgeous, these are a pair of shoes that whenever I wear them out people always compliment or remark on them. One of the things I really like about these shoes is that the pattern follows on down to the bottom of the heel. The insides of the shoes are also a lovely pink.
Sometimes I have problems getting high heels to fit perfectly and they can often slip off, but this shoe has an adjustable strap which is great for me. I often find that a strap can make the shoes a bit more comfortable to wear and in my case I don't have to worry about losing a shoe mid stride.
Even the soles of these shoes have been given thought and attention. They have a design that isn't really in keeping with the rest of the shoe, a native Indian girl with a bow and arrow in a bright array of colours. However, you only really catch glimpses of colour as you walk, which can be quite nice.
I paid £75 for my pair from a local schuh branch, but I have since realised that if you know you size and are confident that you are always that size, then there are plenty of bargains to be had online.
These shoes are quite good quality but they are fashion shoes so they won't live up to being treated harshly or being worn too often. They are lovely thou and they do make a regular outfit that bit more special.
These shoes get a five out of five from me. Although they are expensive I love them and these are beautiful and a slightly quirky take on a nice pair of evening high heels. Some of the other shoes in the Irregular Choice brand are a bit more quirky and stand out even more than these, but even thou these shoes still look fantastic and I love any excuse to wear them.
Just as a little after thought but there is also a matching bag available that looks just as good as the shoes at a much more reasonable price (£35).
Its more than ok to fall in love with this Cortesan / The Irregular Choice modern classic comes dressed in a white manmade upper with a silver paisley print and corsage detail on the toe / A floral lining, buckled strap and 10cm heel finish this court.
